    Seems both companies are dependent on each other.
    1. If google doesn't release the product first, apple will not show interest and don't develop a greater product.
    2. If apple don't make a greater product google will never know their problems and will never rectify.
    So, both companies are in sync. That's called a good competition.

I understand technology obviously you don't as you enjoy the company that is more of a fad or hipster type company. I choose quality, functionality, and intuitiveness instead of the walled garden.

      Well first and foremost, you are not everyone. So not everybody is going to like Android more than iOS.
      That is why i think that your point is biased.
      Android and iOS have different approaches and target different groups of people. Some like it simple, like a closed ecosystem or use the great apps for productivity or creativitiy, some prefer being able to do everything with their device with a huge variety of devices for less.
      If you insist on one OS being better than another, then you just dont understand how phones and tablets work.

    I suppose Google and Apple have coexisted for so long on polarly opposite strategies, because these strategies made them serve largely complementary markets and customer's interests and therefore never really posed a competition to each other. Now that they start to adopt each other's philosophies they will compete more. Short-term, this will be good for the consumer, because it will force them to outdo each other in designing better and/or cheaper products. Long-term that might result in one of them coming out on top and eventually swallowing or "killing" the other. We will see...

      without better energy density, bigger batteries mean bigger phones. This means thicker( I personally don't care about this) or a larger phone (which I do care about. My s8 is big enough for me, anything else is too much for me) and with phone being larger it will just have a larger screen that will drain even more battery. the hardware inside phones are also getting more efficient too so smaller batteries will last longer.

    Apple's approach used to be different while Steve Jobs was around, but since his passing, it's true: Apple wait for safe bets in terms of products. This however also means that they seemingly lag behind the competition, and many feel like they are the just the shadow of their former shelf.

    • @pratikjain9018
      @pratikjain9018 6 лет назад +2

      Peter Suranyi they have taken some harsh steps like removing fingerprint sensor and headphone jack, but overall they are playing safe.

    • @felixtessel136

      Not really true. Look at the MacBooks. Everyone was and some still are so mad that USB A, HDMI and all the other traditional ports were taken.
      Just like Steve did with the MacBook Air. iPhone X controversial as well.

    • @Susu986
      @Susu986 6 лет назад +2

      As long as people blindly buying their products, they will keep making money so from a business perspective they are doing great and they shouldn't change a thing. Personally I think that Tim Cook is butchering Steve Jobs's legacy and Apple went from the industry leader in innovation to a manufacturer of overly expensive products which are almost a year behind the competition, while focusing too much on design while usability takes a backseat. And they have so much money they could really-really innovate and be an industry leader again, but instead they are just lagging behind, it's kind of puzzling. If you look at an Apple keynote from Steve Jobs's time, he was really proud how Apple products are faster and better than the competition. Today you don't want to compare them to the competition because they would fail, or be on par at best. Sometimes I think Tim Cook is being paid by Google or Microsoft to bring down Apple with these products. But thanks to the herd mentality of the customers, they are doing very well. Tim Cook is definitely not a 'product person' and won't take pride in making truly great and innovative products and dreaming big, just about making money for the company. While you cannot find another 'Steve Jobs', Tim Cook was not a good choice to lead the company. And without Jobs' Iphone, they would be down the drain with this mentality already.

    • @galenblack8321
      @galenblack8321 6 лет назад +2

      Peter Suranyi, while I do agree with you, Apple does not seemingly lag behind the competition. They actually do lag behind the competition and a lot of Iphone users are seeing this and making the switch. I don't see Apple or Google going away either.

    • @galenblack8321
      @galenblack8321 6 лет назад

      Peter Suryani, I think you are right about Tim Cook. He is killing the legacy that Steve Jobs built. Apple lags behind by two, not one year.

      At the *very* least, they make premium-bodied devices.
      I've had 4 laptops (2 HP, 1 Dell, and 1 Asus) physically self-destruct on me under normal use (whether it's the top casing, or hinges breaking apart and failing) because of 95% of their price being made up of the CPU/GPU/RAM and 5% being the chassis. Seriously, cheap plastics and a 7lb 17.3" form factor is a recipe for self-destructing housing. Meanwhile, my two cousins' 2006 Macbook Pros are still in mint condition in 2018, even after one got freaking *RUN OVER BY A CAR* in 2010. I've had over $2500 worth of Windows laptops break from 2012 to 2016, while those $2700 Macbook Pros are still in excellent working condition to this very day.

    "Apple don't abandon anything" Well, I'm not sure about that. I think that new cheap move of slowing down iPhones is cosidered raping not just abandoning :/

    • @danieltanuwijaya7675
      @danieltanuwijaya7675 5 лет назад

      The point of slowing down old iPhones is to reduce power consumption. Why? It's because the old batteries in old iPhones started to lose their power capacity, thus decreasing the maximum amount of power those batteries can give. If Apple didn't slow down those old iPhones, then those iPhones will just randomly shut down without any warning while doing heavy tasks. That's because the battery can't give enough power to the CPU to get the work done. Imagine having your gaming PC suddenly shut down in the middle of a game due to a bad power supply. That will be the exact same thing that will happen to those old iPhones if they weren't slowed down.

    then their is MS, the company which start or innovate new hardware, but fails to capitalize on it. Whereas Google and Apple waits until MS product dies, so they can release theirs polished products.

    • @eve36368
      @eve36368 6 лет назад +1

      abhilash jena Microsoft basically relies on large organizations & basically using their networks to expose the public to their products. this can be debilitating because it gets seen as formal (which closes access to the personal information you'd need for advertising which you can get via casual relationships). also Microsoft relied on private in-house access to technology support (IT department). this is historically because they allowed use of different hardware components but didn't have the interactions of those planned, so everything was very specialized. compare this though to the genius bars at physical Apple stores. people do like that competence but with Microsoft's model there were too many things needed to sell competence. also in an economy where large corporate business structures are unstable, Microsoft are too. (basically because automation & it takes like less than 100 people to get a billion dollar business these days.)
      basically Microsoft is incompetent with casual networking skills. they are competent in formalized networking.
      basically Microsoft is the technology sector equivalent of Hillary Rodham Clinton in USAmerican politics.

    Apple formula of watch and learn is good, but there are a lot of China phone maker know that Apple's formula is the successful one so they follow Apple's path of making their phone. For example, when fingerprint on phone came out, a lot china manufacturer followed too, when apple made dual camera, china phone maker followed too, when iphoneX with notch came out, china phone followed too with A MUCH COMPETITIVE price. That's why Apple felt threatened, and this might be one of the driving cause of the trade war between china and US.

    Apple user here. There are a few Apple products that don't fit the description that Apple extensively tests things first to get them working properly before releasing them. Apple Maps was a buggy and broken mess for at least half a year when it launched. iPhone 4 had a universal antenna problem that prompted Apple to give out free bump cases for all users. And iOS 11 has been the buggiest iPhone OS release ever. I had to revert back to iOS 10 because iOS 11 was severely draining my battery even on stand-by. iOS 11 is also the first time I've ever experienced slowdown and random restarts on an iPhone. This isn't just me, there are widespread reports of these issues from many iOS 11 users.

    "Are Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) the future of mobile"
    not so sure on:
    > " ... Championed by Google, ... "
    The in_house, and-or out_house argument has been a standard business problem. In both computing & internet worlds, these issues have always been debated, under different names.
    Each "new" feature and innovation starts as an out_house, foreign invasion t the status-quo. If it shows worth, some in_house operators will then try to bring it away from the out_house world. Microsoft is now debating internally more openly now: should "Cortana" stop being an alien foreigner to the operating system, or deeply & tightly embedded?
    Apple's BSD (Unix-type) operating systems are secretly following Microsoft's spaghetti threading, by tightly embedding the "progressive-applications" into the tightly "efficient" code. This is opposite to the Unix principles of having well-functioning independent units, unified by an expanding architecture. "Efficiency" is given much higher value, in regards to other factors: reliability, versatility, etc.
    As Apple has shown, it forces its (irrational & religious) devotees into expensive iTaxation, because it offers quick, instant, learning-free "solutions". When these locked in "solutions" become less financially profitable for its ultra-wealthy investors, it forces it Apple devotees into paying more iTaxes. These iTaxes involve more hardware, software & firmware. No learning (seemingly) needed.

    Thanks for the overview on these IT Tech giants.
    I think Google's strategy is best in this domain because it fosters creativity and flexibility and individual entrepreneurship. Also, this corporation is much less rigidly structured than Apple. I see Google as the typical 21st century/Millennial corporation, while Apple is still very late 20th century/Generation X in its approach to business, HR and PR.
    So, Google is all the way up for me when it comes to IT. Still, as an early Millennial, I wouldn't work with/for them as I prefer my own ventures/projects, nor would I sell them whatever products/apps I come up with. I much prefer the concept of Open Source/freeware: it makes the World go round and sound, free from money-tricks :).
