Apple should’ve done this over 5-7 years ago, they should’ve seen this coming, a monkey could’ve seen this coming, it seems like just stupidity. Also It’s a conflict of interests for Apple to become an internet service company when they advertise privacy, hopefully these will be subscription based services, if not than it’s a bad idea. Google owns Android. It was logical decision, not 'BIG BROTHER" act of salvation. There are no example in IT industry where locked ecosystem won - from IBM PC`s, to 3DFx`s purchase of STB and leaving AIB partners behind, they always lose. Apple will too, eventually.
Nokia is different. If they went with Android as a backup strategy for Symbian/MeeGoo, they would have ever fall. But they got Elop and Windows Phone, and we all know what happened. Even if a lot of their phones were just fantastic and much ahead of its time (Lumia 1020), no one really liked software support of Windows Mobile.. Apple is already working hard on Apple Car and Apple watch. That's the Next Big thing where people are going to waste Trillions. Already confirmed by Elon Musk. Google is also working on software for auto-driving cars.
Yeah, what can you really do different with smartphones from here on? Put the play button on the left side of the screen instead of the right? That is basically the improvements of smartphones of the last 3 years, and they slap a couple hundred dollars extra on for it. I know I really oversimplyfied it there but hopefully you know what I mean.
*Make phones unnecessary expensive *Make phone repair expensive *Remove headphone jack and sell dingles *Try to extort more money even under warranty by replacing the entire mother board because the workers are force to work fast and not even bother to ask for the password, so they replace the entire thing *build product with planned obsolescence *build product that breaks with 3 months and ask a lot to repair even though the problems have been exited since years they still use the same design and expect it break aka the butterfly keyboard and the recent screen flex cable being cheap and breaking soon.
Best case scenario: Apple evolves over time and becomes Orange. Worst case scenario: Apple eventually gets taken over by another giant. My bet is Samsung!
I have Note 5 and I have zero plans to upgrade. The battery is a little weak now but it can be used a whole day with light use. When the battery dies I will just buy another 2 hand Note 8 or 9. I would like to buy Fan Edition tho.
I’ve had an iPhone since 2016 and before that iPods, and I’m getting a bit bored. Nice simple design, but it’s always the same, and their products are quite fragile. Maybe I’d miss them if I bought a different brand, but it’s ridiculous that each year there’s a new model, and now the iPhone mini, regular, Pro and Pro Max. The Pro Max looks nice but how many people truly use all it offers? The 1T model costs $AUD2700 in Australia! You can get a laptop for that much..
Many thoughtful observations here. In 2002 (when I didn't have a wife or kids) I used to have Samsung laptops and Android phones. Dabbled a bit into a Sony phone (with an OS name I cannot remember). Switched to a MacBook Pro and LOVED IT but always stuck to Android phones mostly because I could replace the battery. Over the years, I switched back to a PC (an ASUS laptop with a touch screen) and the Microsoft Surface frankly just works. Now, with a not-so-tech-savvy wife and 3 tech-savvy children...we expect everything to work together. I have a 27-inch iMac at home that's collecting dust. It's awesome... there's just no need to use it. Amazon web services powers Netflix, and while Microsoft 10 and its updates drive me nuts, there's nothing we can't start on a phone and complete on a web browser...any web browser. Chrome ties all of my information and can literally cast a video from my ASUS to the Roku or Playstation. Apple needs to diversify ASAP so it can survive the next 15 years.
I hate iTunes so much (it’s buggy and slow) that I bought a Sony A55 MP3 Walkman a few weeks ago. I bought a 256GB Sandisk memory card so I don’t have to figure out what Playlists to transfer because of limited iPhone storage for my AAC Lossless and 256 VBR compressed AAC files. I love it and now have no reason to replace my IP7 in a year or two with another iPhone. I will look at Sony and Samsung phones in 2020 or 2021 when my IP7 inevitably dies.
Its because even cheap smartphones are good enough now if you buy the right one...let alone mid tiers and flagships from the last few years. So you can buy an iphone every 6 years, or the newest highly rated budget android every year. You decide. Hell, once you get a good enough processor (geekbench score of like 1400 single/4600 multi)...a decent screen...1080p....good enough clear camera, all day battery life and a fingerprint reader ..headphone jack and water resistance...and you can do it for WAY less than the $1400 cost of Apples flagships plus accessories....it's pretty simple really. Face ID is great but are people really willing to pay hundreds of dollars more to have it over the fingerprint reader they have on a cheap phone? I say no...and the numbers agree with me. IT just has to work, and phones have gotten good enough. And android has gotten smooth enough and isn't limited like IOS is. Not only that but Apple has burned people a thousand ways from Sunday by overcharging them for their products and accessories. No fast charger in all of the boxes? $40+ bucks for a case when I can buy the SAME thing for an android phone for like 15 bucks? I don't mind paying extra money for premium products, but apple is outrageous. It feels like they're just being an ass. NOT TO MENTION Apple products have had real problems that no one ever dealt with or acknowledged..or if they do its not until way later...as if Apple products are this magical holy grail experience that never have issues which is total crap. When they work they're a dream...but when they don't, they're hell, and they DO get that way sometimes. So...until 5G......or something really life changing comes out .....Meh. But at this point what else is there?
Apple actually knows what to do in that situation, because they experienced the same thing with iPod. They probably know where to go with their products and it's succeeding. Services like Apple TV became successful because Apple knows who is their real rivals. Apple TV is not a rival of Netflix, it's a rival of smaller services like HBO Max. Shows like Dickinson, Ted Lasso and See shows that. Other services still matters but Apple is making the Mac the new center of their ecosystems with the new Apple silicons.
Well, Apple already announced that future versions of devices will be able to share computing power. They are moving to own silicion and next gen Apple TV - based at least on A14 - will have.... serious capability under the belt. They are probably well underway in creating strongly unified (apps/services) platform, which they will attemp to shrink-wrap with some additional service. Movies, Books, Music are already kind of in place. Glasses are to follow.
Watching this Video 3 yrs later and Boy did you predict the future. It seems like Apple is becoming and internet and ad services company. With EU bullying Apple towards USB-C. It would not be a surprise to see them redevelop Apple like they did with iPhone X
Ummm what do you mean the peak for windows was not as high as iPhone? That is 100% false. Even today Windows is more way more popular than IOS. Android is close to Windows. The peak of Windows was roughly 80-90% of all computers.... Nobody will ever match that level of domination.

Also It’s a conflict of interests for Apple to become an internet service company when they advertise privacy, hopefully these will be subscription based services, if not than it’s a bad idea. Apple should invest in other hardware or infrastructure like internet, or solar panels, or something non tech related they can do whatever they want, they have the money, it’s just stupid how they haven’t.

Thank you,Xiaomi!
Agreed.
When it comes to productivity and complex tasks, nothing beats laptops and PCs....for now. Typing on a glass still sucks.
Just a heads up: I recommend investing in a new microphone.
Great video ❤️
Thanks! The microphone is actually fine, my problem is that the room I'm recording in has bed echo, but I'm slowly working on it!
Yea like for example when he did a collab with Mrwhosetheboss, his voice sounded less echo-ish
@@TechAltar if you are in the room with a wardrobe, open it! Also try to spread the clothes on the hangers so you can eliminate echo and trap the lower frequencies! Cheers
I think you need to invest in better headphones
Maybe Apple is going to make is own search engine... As iPhone default it would be probably extremely valuable for advertisers as iPhone users tend to spend more money or so :D
What's your intro song? I've heard on so many channels but I CANT find it :(
Maybe they could make the iPhone more valuable for it's price...
Great, I think Xiaomi thought about this a LOOOOONG time ago.
Man I love your deeply analytic videos.
Adam is a great editor ..
YT channels sponsoring YT channels?
I know, right? I don't care how he puts it, this is NOT normal in any sense of the term whatsoever.
This video is sponsored by Huawei.
Very insightful content as always. Well packaged unbiased content. Video was okay, no glitches noticed.
Very interesting topic, thanks for the great video =D
Hopefully this doesn't mean Apple will try to rerelease the pippin
Wow! Your upload schedule is back to normal again...
Yeah! ☺
@@TechAltar Also bro, Don't you think that the AR glasses are more like an accessory to the iPhone and not a completely different (independent) product line, much like the Apple Watch?
Possible at first, though I think the end goal of AR glasses is to eventually become your main computer
@@TechAltar woah that would be crazy but cool
@@TechAltar WOW! That doesn't seem even plausible in my wildest of imaginations...
I think they should continue the Star Trek paradigm. Roddenberry was pretty smart. We still don’t have the talking broaches on our shirts or Dr. Macoy’s medical scanner thing. Maybe one of those could be next. I’m givin up on tiny projectors. I though for sure that was gonna be it.
Acquisition of *MOTOROLA* isn't a failure. It's *primary purpose* is more of *_Legal_* acquisition of *IPs* or Intellectual Properties in wireless telephony realm for which *MOTOROLA* has a huge number under its *tech vault.* This acquisition *precludes* other tech companies from *_legally harassing_* Google for its *android market;* - which by transitivity would have put other smaller handset makers in a perilous state.
Thus, before divestiture of Motorola, *Google* has already put the *aces* up its sleeves. And acted like a protective *BIG BROTHER* for all *android handset manufacturers* and all other companies that are part of the *ecosystem.*
Stop *talking* like *this*
Thing I liked most about this video is how you framed the problem. As soon as I got the problem you had me hooked 🤙
Why not use Nokia as an example, they fell because their arrogance an lack to adapt. There are many similarities in apples present situation.
Developers didnt fancy Microsft Store too, although I personally still like Windows Mobile, it worked really well even on a low-power devices.
But, if HMD Mobile keep making phones like these, this time around Nokia will survive even the death of the iPhone.
Nokia got overtaken, no one is overtaking Apple

@@StuffOverload Uhhmm.. right off bat I can tell you're not living in Asia, the biggest and the most populous continent. Yes, US have a big market shares especially because they like to over consume anything. But the Asian Market is blooming. A lot of people are getting out of poverty and potential market share are growing exponentially. Just look at the unprecedented rate of Indian going online.( ie T-Series). So probably, US ban made an impact but probably not a fatal one.
iPhone makes more money but its sales is decreasing every new iterations. That's why they are pumping up the prices to justify the loss of sales. They cannot keep pushing the prices up.
@@StuffOverload Agreed. That's why they are incorporating AppleTV app in other smart tvs.
9:20 It's about time, but it's WAAAYY too late for them to recapture much of what they lost.
Eyy your using the soundtrack pewdiepie uses. Nice. A fellow 9 year old
I honestly feel that the video was well made: the background, the movie, the audio. All of it was good for him being the first one to edit a video he made an awesome job in my opinion. By the way, awesome topic @TechAltar please upload more videos!!
We are not funding Apple anymore by accepting any price they ask.
Your videos are just brilliant, I’m so amazed by you perspective and analysis in these complicated subjects. Lots of love from Mexico.

Airpods sales are booming
Nah, SouljaPods is superior in every way
They're quite good due to the chip inside it for easy connectivity for iOS (I hate the douchebags who brags about it though)
I don't hate the product just the douchebags
They make up a really small portion of their revenue though
I mean there’s absolutely no doubt they’re deep in development of the new “iPhone killer” product which most likely be the Apple glasses...
They’ve done that several times before!
Apple is already working hard on Apple Car and Apple watch. That's the Next Big thing where people are going to waste Trillions. Already confirmed by Elon Musk. Google is also working on software for auto-driving cars.

They must of been using Apple Maps.
Apple Watch has been around for a few years now, it has yet to be a success.
Would Louis Rossman buy a self-driving Apple car? And would he be able to fix it?

All they need to do is make iPhones what they are worth
And acknowledge competition they don’t seem to have any motivation to beat anything
$1000 is never worth for a smartphone because it is jack of all trades but masters of none
Well said Akasuna
Yeah, what can you really do different with smartphones from here on? Put the play button on the left side of the screen instead of the right? That is basically the improvements of smartphones of the last 3 years, and they slap a couple hundred dollars extra on for it. I know I really oversimplyfied it there but hopefully you know what I mean.
I want an update on this video as well, things have changed quite a bit since it.
Still wanting a revisit 🥲
Feels like watching pewdiepie...
it’s the background music isn’t it?
*Make phones unnecessary expensive
*Make phone repair expensive
*Remove headphone jack and sell dingles
*Try to extort more money even under warranty by replacing the entire mother board because the workers are force to work fast and not even bother to ask for the password, so they replace the entire thing
*build product with planned obsolescence
*build product that breaks with 3 months and ask a lot to repair even though the problems have been exited since years they still use the same design and expect it break aka the butterfly keyboard and the recent screen flex cable being cheap and breaking soon.
Best case scenario: Apple evolves over time and becomes Orange.
Worst case scenario: Apple eventually gets taken over by another giant. My bet is Samsung!
My bet is a new device.

What apple needs is a indian guy as a CEO .
nish That’s the trend seems like
Prices will go down :)
Microsoft made approximately $4.6 Billions dollars in sales from Windows alone in 2018. I wouldn’t called that moving passed a product.
