    What a great way to look at his situation! First he acknowledged that he created the 'prison - his current body - he's in. Then he said he needed to 'serve his time' - proper diet and exercise - in order to get out the 'prison' of his body. Great attitude! I have so heard so much B.S. from patients being foolish enough to try and convince Dr Now that they are 'doing everything right', 'eating right' and 'working so hard'. I hope this guy also has the perseverance it will take to work his way out of 'prison'.

    I can't see a morbidly overweight person and simply think "oh they just need to work out more" or what-have-you. His statement of always having food on his mind, it's just too common and I've seen it with my own friends and family--anecdotally I know, but still.
    When these individuals transform themselves, it's so impressive knowing that they're not simply building a routine but truly fighting through some aspect of mental or physical disorder that is ramping up their appetite in a way you or I simply don't have to. Shame on me for ever thinking it was a (not so) simple matter of eating less and working out, but truly a whole additional level of hurdle these individuals must fight through for their health.
    Best of luck to you all for the betterment of our health. I'm in awe of your willpower and strength of character.

    • @skybug1706
      @skybug1706 7 дней назад +1

      very compassionate. at the end of the day most people do not sabotage their lives out of laziness, but it's hard to explain when it manifests in certain ways. and even worse, their self enabling and their enablers don't help them get better. rather, they end up in denial. but it's true, nobody gets that big from just eating, it hurts to push your body that far. the stories of arriving there are tragic, actually. and sadly they still have to do the work to get out, and they still have to address what brought on such an addiction. it's a fine line acknowledging this without being permissive, but one worth towing.

    I used to be unable to fathom being that heavy. Twenty five years ago I had a coworker, who became a good friend, and he had gone through something similar. He was about 30 when I met him, but he told me he had undergone bariatric surgery when he was 14 or 15 (he said he weighed 400 lbs as a 9 year old). He lost hundreds of pounds, had a tummy tuck at 17 or 18, etc. But he still had all that extra skin at the time. I saw him undergo a second tummy tuck, and several surgeries to remove breast tissue, skin along both arms (to the elbow), along both inner thighs (to the knees), etc.

      I have been in his kind of situation, though not to this extreme. Over 300 pounds, depressed, low income. It becomes a problem because you don't always realize just how much more you're spending and what you're not taking care of, because it's literally an addiction. Just like any addiction, it takes over. You figure out ways, you find cheap, yet very bad for you foods. And don't forget, some of the worst foods for you are also the cheapest.

    He is so respectful when speaking to the Dr. He has class and was obviously taught respect by his parents. Much different from most people on this show lol

    Love the dedication he has to get his life back in shape! I’m an athletic guy but let myself go during Covid, I have recently lost 15kg and I have another 10kg to go! Feeling great!

    I'm amazed by how much nicer Dr. Now is when the person actually buckles down and takes things seriously. Usually this show is horrifying, but this one was pretty wholesome

    People like these on the show give me hope. Those people who keep making excuses and clearly are not interested enough to care make me quite angry. They're wasting everyone's time and efforts and this guy takes on all the advice and help he can get. Good for him. I hope he's happy these days.

    The thing that got me after sleeve gastrectomy was how thirsty you were after the operation. They would only give you 2 ice cubes and it didnt stop the thirst. The next major thing was the 3 weeks without solid food. It was a killer.
