For me cautious optimism, I feel Shadowlands has more good than bad, though the bad is more broadly outspoken due to obvious reasons with covenant powers(abilities soulbinds, etc) I don't think covenant powers will ruin the expansion, though I'm with the vocal majority against locking these powers behind what should've been just cosmetic and thematic choices, it would've created a much more healthy and fun environment if players were discussing their allegiances to these covenants based on what appealed to them in terms of theme and what they represent in the Shadowlands...not this glorified talent ability...that said, ultimately it will just make some gameplay aspects frustrating and annoying for a lot of players, while sadly removing that fun thematic choice due to the power attached. At the end of the day I think we'll have a Legion like expansion with the legendary issue being replaced by the covenant powers but overall fun enough xpac.(no TF though!) It's just sad that we could have an amazing expansion as opposed to a potentially good enough one with some repeated mistakes and design faults.
I haven't played wow since the northrend expansion so I'm a bit lost here but did you say level 50 to 60? Did they drop the level caps since I last played years ago or something. If they did that's fine but I'm just surprised lol.
I have a question: are mobs still adapt to item level i wear? What's the point of having better gear when it takes exact same time to kill a random mob at world map?
Do you have to have a crafting profession to make a legendary item. or can you buy in the AH from other players? I have not kept up with my professions in a long while.
Thanks for putting all the work into making this video! I'm only half way through but I can't help but feel dramatically less interested in playing another WoW expansion. All of these mini grind systems cobbled together just sound completely mind numbing. I just want a game thats fun to play without having to watch a 40 min video just to understand whats going on lol.
I appreciate that! And hey maybe this will help...maybe not but much of what is discussed here isn't 'mandatory' content. A lot of it is optional if you chasing after cosmetics or to have fun upgrading things like Anima and the Sanctum. There is a lot of new features for sure but outside of renown and soul ash grind (for legendarys) which is a total 2 hours or so of play time to do in a full week, there are no other 'grinds', for player power at least. SL is more of a time-gated grind in comparison to the more typical grind of the past 2 xpacs, if that makes sense. Everything else is more...play/do what you want.

Wait can someone game me up! I'v been out of the loop for awhile. So what happens to all characters that are over lvl 60 that i already have. What will happen to zones...are they now where you can lvl in any zone? Does it scale? thanks
So during the prepatch every character got level squished to 50 as the max cap is going to be 60 in shadowlands. For the zones, yes all zones including BFA even is playable as soon as u create a character from my understanding and it every zone scales. Hope that answers all of your questions, if not feel free to ask more. :)

@@99glen I may have been unclear about the level squish. My friend made a Demon Hunter before the squish and when it came it dropped from level 98 to level 39. So u only get squished down to 50 if u were 120. Im not rly sure what levels get squished anymore, but as far as the amount of dungeons there will be 8 different 50-60 dungeons on launch i assume. They probably will add more.
I like the squish feels very wrath like numbers Hopefully power creep wont get out of control and we stay around 30k dps by end of expac. Personally loving all the wrath vibes and the numbers play a big part into that. By the time we start hitting 6 figure dps it start to feel like a Jrpg with just nonsense numbers with a bunch of extra 0's that require meters to make any sense of. Lower numbers just make it easier to digest.
@@wyrmtung8700 I agree, I played a lot of end game wrath. I remember hitting 38k on Deathbringer Saurfang H ICC 25 & it was stupid high. But I dont recall how much DPS people were doing going into Naxx - do you?
Well this game didnt change at all still world of worldquest, beacuse there is nothing better after leveling for 20 hours to hitting lvl cap and still do quests
what i dont like about wow system is that every expansion seems nullified or make prev expansion obsolute , i've been grinding azerith power armor, but i guess it will be wortless in shadow lands
So, Torghast is based on Palace of the Dead and Heaven on High from FFXIV. I hope the WoW devs give credit where credit is due, to the FFXIV devs....lol
I find that Shadowlands is a lot closer to ESO then FFXIV. I never liked FFXIV but I love ESO. And I love Shadowlands :) Even the new alts system is a lot closer to ESO.

I think it's cool they borrowed this system, and maybe WoW can make a deep dungeon better than FFXIV, as PoD and HoH our deep dungeons are pretty much dead in Shadowbringers. I'm going to try out WoW, Shadowlands, and I'm looking forward to Torghast. I think it's more than fine for MMOs to have similar in game systems to each other, but with tweaks. So no shade from me, just acknowledgement that FFXIV innovated this system. Also, imitation is the highest form of flattery, so there is that.

So I really have no idea what I'm talking about :) WoW "copied" Everquest and for 10 years every other MMORPG copied WoW. I enjoyed every expansion but I preferred Burning Crusade, Lich King. Warlords of Draenor (yes I really liked it) and Legion. BFA was not as bad as Pandaria but I quickly got bored. I never did the final raid or the visions. All I did was level alts... or play ESO. But what I tried so far in Beta is really interesting. I still have not decided which class will be my main.

@@ForTheForsaken Not exactly, The Maw itself is a daily since you can only grind a set amount of things there in a day before you get kicked out by the Eye of the Jailer mechanic. And you will need Stygia for sockets. so to maximize that you need to do it daily. Unless you don't care about sockets or the extra conduit upgrades(still fuzzy rn)
@@ForTheForsaken The 'Endless Dungeon' feature, is Torghast, it's separate to the Maw zone itself, not sure if you confusing the 2, that one you can run it whenever and as much as you want but it's not endless. Ends at 18 floors or 6. With various difficulties.

i stopped playing wow, when the dude in dalaran gave me a quest to go to dalaran. I then found out, that there are ten different dalaran and timezones which made me immediately deinstall that shit. You are overwhelmed with content in wow these days, they need to really clean that shit up. its confusing af. Same goes for the whole base/covenant/Garnison/Quest system/anima/necklace crap.Its like the devs are desperate to introduce new, exciting systems, but instead make the game even more confusing, at least to returners/new players. its meh, really. just let me go grab 10 dinosaur eggs and reward me with gear. make it simple...
@@421spaceman Shouldn't the goal of a dynamic game like WoW be to improve it's appeal to players of all kinds to keep revenue high and sustain the updates we enjoy? Besides alot of people want to get their friends involved but the 120 lvl grind is extremely boring and hard to get through especially if what they are looking for is playing the post 120 lvl content such as raiding, gear grinding, and so on. The lvling experience should be a tutorial and hook for new players not an barrier to their ability to enjoy the game.
I think level 80 would have been good. Its weird going back to level 60 which wow classic is at. It's like wow going backwards. Most mmo's lvl are at 80
