    A lifetime of study to understand these wonderful people (Maya)...
    And Dr. Coe succeeded brilliantly!
    In a sense, his brilliant mind helped to create a miraculous time machine that allows us to hear the thoughts and ideas of an ancient culture through their own language.
    A remarkable achievement!

    I live in Guatemala, was born here, speak mayan, and other languages, and this has been a wonderful lecture. Classic maya disappeared, gone forever, but mayan people compose up to nearly 30 different groups, each with their own language and dialects. What unites them is religion, mayan religion. And mayan languages are taught at all schools here. Present mayan are becoming literate on their own languages, and will surely understand this great collapse.

    Didn't Michael Allan Coe, (from the post-high-classic-country-rockian-northeastern-higher-upper-lowland-basin citadel of "Na'ax-Bíl", if I remember correctly) write that epic warrior-poet-song that has the refrain:
    "If that ain't Mayan... you can Quiche Maya Ya'ax!"?

    Absolutely brilliant lecture. The only thing that just didn’t ring true to me was his belief they defended from Olmec. Does any Olmec nose look anything like a Mayan nose?

    • @norcalnative5582
      @norcalnative5582 Год назад +1

      Yes they do. I am part mayan I have a fat nose with huge nostrils. My mayan friends are all very short with square heads lol I'm not lkeing they have a Goomba head like square jawline it's different it'd unique its maya its not african ...the people of olmec decent have more tropical and jungle phenotypes so they mightvw been exposed to the jungle more than other groups....just like in the Amazon groups within the Amazon tend to have wider nostrils and darker skin

    They have found the Egyptian Ankh in Temples in Mexico and Guatemala, these may well have been Phoenicians/Hebrews from Egypt and Babylon. The death and resurrection of the serpent is precisely what is taught by Egyptian tradition. In fact the Bible is an adaption of the Babylonian zodiac written backwards, theres a recurring theme of duality and inversion, which would be consistent with an understanding of maritime navigation. I just cant figure out who came first. Baalam sure sounds alot like the Lord of the Bible, Baal,the Lion of Judah. They seem to have adapted local iconography to their root horoscope, starting with Osiris, which was the sign of the Spring Equinox in India 6000 years ago, hence the Bull worship, being Taurus, and Abraham being a Brahim, from Batman, in Turkey. And why Alexander the Great is portrayed with Horns in Aries, and why Osiris is pictured with the crook and flail of a Shepard. Jesus marks the fishermen of Pisces, also represented in Maui, and Trump is the unfortunate avatar of Aquarius, opposed by the fire sign and 13th sunsign of the Babylonian Zodiac Serpentis, the Serpent Bearer, symbol of healing and Resurrection.

      The cross is the Phoenician Sun God symbol, representing Melqart, Scion of Baal, King of Tyre, it's an Equinox Calender, the constellation of Orion is the God of every religion. The Temple of Solomon, is the Temple of Melqart in Tyre, which is Troy, just offshore from Urshu, or Ur Shalom, Jerusalem. The Tower of Babel is the Pyramids, built by Hiram Abiff, King of Babylon, and the Hanging Gardens are Vinyards. The Holy Grail is the Philosopher's Stone which the Phoenix ignites upon, and the phoenix is Venus, which resurrects every 584 years at Easter.
      Sanchoniathon states: "Chronus, whom the Phoenicians name ISRAEL [JACOB] and who was, after his death, consecrated into the star SATURN, when HE WAS KING OF THE COUNTRY, and had by a nymph of that country, named Anobret, an only begotten son, whom, on that account, they called Jeud.

      Pan is used to varying degrees in a number of countries - Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania (Ponas). Historically, Pan was equivalent to "Lord" or "Master" (ruler, suzerain). Pan is most common in Poland. The feminine form is Pani and the collective is Państwo.

    It was great fun listening to this expert. We have a fine group of plates and drinking cups for chocolate in Boston at the MFA. Lots of blood and beheadings but no genital blood letting. It may be a bit too gross for Boston sensibilities. I especially enjoyed the ball game with dead heads. It does not seem to be a particularly pleasant existence for the average person. At least trump can not avail himself of beheading and blood letting

      The problem with the anthropologist and historians it's that the can't admit that the indigenous people of the Anáhuac aka america had a civilization thousand years before the european and just divide different cultures of one civilization in different civilizations when it's only one :the anawak,mayas weren't one civilization ,was a culture different from let's say zapoteca o even mexica but they were and are part of the Anáhuac.
