  • Attn: New CSX Conductors! Here is a series of Videos on how to read CSX signals. Because my knowledge is limited to NS protocol I found this series from Danny at Distant Signal to help CSX new hires get a jump start on their signals for conductor training school👍🏻🚂 Part 1/7 #theextraboard #becomingaconductor #norfolksouthern #railroading #trains #raillife #railfans #railroad #railroadqanda #freighttrain #csx #canadianpacific #bnsf #unionpacific

I took the "knocking down" the signal too literally when I came across one video. I had to read the comments to learn knocking down the signal means it goes red when the train passes it (I thought the signal always went red )

in todays modern world with trucks able to deliver stuff faster, safer, cheaper and better than trains, there is no need for something as antiquated as trains to be anywhere outside amusement parks and 3rd world cuntries.

It takes 4 or so tanker trucks to unload one ethanol rail car. They say trains get 500 miles on one gallon of fuel with one ton of product. A fully loaded semi gets about 5 to 7 miles per gallon. Trucks do like 90 percent of the damage done to the highway system and majority of the accidents in both I'm sure are caused by people who don't respect Newtons First Law

@@lucasfrost629 Trucks can take detours around problems, they do not require tracks, do not make enough noise to wake the dead. etc..... I could list 100 or more reasons trucks are better than trains but there is no need because everyone knows they are.

So if you have one train with 100 ethanol tanks hauling from idk Chicago down to Atlanta. You think it would be better to hire 400 trucks to do the same job? Or if you have a 100 car intermodal train stacked 2 high from Baltimore to Jacksonville it would be better to hire 200 trucks? I guess you think we should hire 15000 tug boats to take cargo to Bermuda every day?

@@lucasfrost629 yep, trucks can detour and do not make all that noise, block traffic for 30 mins at a time etc......
