- This was a level created for the second Speedrun event of the DKC4 community, in the final version it has a Timer that measures the Run time. The entire theme and level design was developed by me, trying to mix some barrel shooting mechanics into a completely vertical level.
Level Design and Concept: @Rangelukaz.
DKC4 Engine: Kalango, Leocore, Necrotoad.
Custom Animal Tokens 3D Models: Vege, Jeffery Bones
Kongs and Animal Tokens Custom Sprites: Molly Snyder (Phyreburnz).
Music: Rodrigo Boechat - Star and Clouds.

in an alternate universe rare never got sold to microsoft and we got something like this instead of donkey konga. the dedication and work of these fans are incredible
In an alternate universe DK64 is a smaller game and actually has fun mission to do in the levels as well as fun platforming and double+triple jumps for all characters.

the combo of creative use of old assets and new level design ideas is so cool. Found this channel like a week ago and I've loved every single level I've seen, I really hope some kind of version of all these is released/playable sometime soon, these are all top notch
I love the idea of having the DK barrels cycle through the different characters so you can change up your playstyle on the fly. Great way to keep the levels feeling fresh every time instead of locking you into one duo the whole time.
I feel like this is a level we deeply deserve as DKC fans
The way you capture the essense of the original trilogy is simply out of this world, man, this is awesome, top notch, just perfect: I really love all levels shown this far, gotta say my all time favs are Konkreto, the level in the clouds, the Marathon Monkeys and this one here. All mind blowing

I can’t even imagine the amount of work that was put into this masterpiece. The level and music were literally, out of this world. I’d buy this game in a heartbeat.

This was my favorite level; it's the kind of level that drives me to tears. The music, the atmosphere, that sense of wonder I used to have in the SNES era... This level gave it breath.

My gosh this is so beautiful in every way. The fact the series turns 30 in November and all Nintendo has given us thus far is a Switch port of DKC Returns is maddening.
I've read in comments this project has been canceled.
We need something more this year and I'm sad this won't be finished.

I like that you can choose whoever from the dk barrels but I also wish there was a new kong to play to keep with tradition of adding a new kong each game ya'know.
I was half expecting a kaizo challenge fuck rom hack, when I saw “DKC4”, but man, I’m so happy I was wrong. All the original and reused assets look so good and the level design has some real care put into it.
If you had put this in front of me when I was a kid in the 90s and told me Rare made it, I’d 100% believe you. Great work!

This ethereal vibe is the reason why I've always been a fan of this series. Something DK64 just threw in the garbage for some reason
Yeah it became a Grant Kirkhope baby circus vibe instead of the otherworldly dreamscapes David wise and the team nailed in the original trilogy. That vibe really peaked with dkc2 but this is really close!

Great point! I never played DK64 but seeing it felt so strange after the amazing music & visuals of DKC. I just hadn't really thought of why until now :)
I’m intrigued on what the King K. Rool battle could be like for this game, I only just learned about this DKC4 fan project today after it appeared in my recommendations and I really enjoyed watching all of the videos about the levels that were made so far, and the music is top notch for each one of them. 😊

Modern dkc: here’s a rocket barrel, don’t hit anything on the way up, good luck!
Cranky Kong: back in my day we didn’t have any of them newfangled rocket barrels, they made us climb to space with barrel cannons, ropes, and old fashioned jumps, yes they did! You whippersnappers have no idea how good you have it these days!
All jokes aside, this was a beautifully crafted level, with both the theming and music creating something truly unique in the world of DKC levels. I’m not sure how I feel about having more than two kongs at a time, it feels like it would be a bit cluttered compared to the usual two. If this becomes a full release I’d hope things are balanced around having all the kongs and not just watered down difficulty.

It's about time someone began making DKC stuff. Mario and Sonic get way too much love. (Pokemon, understandable, because the creature & gameplay formula heavily compliment modding.)

It's a bit weird seeing someone as heavy as DK having to jump on top of Click-Clack twice. For example, in DKC1, Diddy can't kill Army by jumping on top of him, but DK can. I would've expected the same idea to be transferred here: DK and Kiddy kill Click-Clack with a single hit, while Diddy and Dixie need two hits.
Other than that, I'm super impressed by this fan game. It looks and works exactly like the original games, at first I thought it was a ROM hack! Props to the team.

Watched all the Level Videos. Awesome stuff, much much better then the demo that was released years ago. The costume stages feel far more "rare-esqe" the only thing missing are new enemies that fit the levels. DKC4 currently looks more likea celebration of all 3 games then an own game with its own identity. I dont mean that negatively but i think it has the potential to be more then just that.
Also more important is how the overworld is build up. I would love to see some DKC3 style overworld mixed with the old ones but with some unique progression.
Thanks for the feedback, and I agree with you. Most of these levels were made in a context to be played individually and therefore aimed to demonstrate mechanics and gameplay, which is why the level design most of the time seems generic. The project ended up stagnating after a while and I ended up joining the team during a time when the members no longer had time to invest in it, so I decided to record some of the work I developed in the project here on my channel, and I hope May the project get going again one day.
Funny how just a few weeks ago I was thinking about some old DKC sprite animation of a level of the Kongs swimming in clouds. Dall-E could not figure it out at all. Really well done level and concept here though. Maybe a swimming in space type level is possible? Zero grav nebula clouds?

Starblast Speedway, huh? Well since it's so similar to a Sonic CD zone, I'll just say that Wacky Workbench Good Future US and Fear Factory give the same vibes.
My idea initially was to use exactly the same name, but I saw that it already existed in Sonic CD and decided to change it a little to make reference to the barrel shots.

Curious though, are you guys sticking to a theme with the levels for creating different worlds in the game?
For example, in each saga there are always worlds that have a particular theme as you work your way up to a boss and than head to the newer themed world. Like in DKC 2 you start off on the pirate ship so the levels all revolve around that. Than in the 2nd world the pirate ship is wrecked and the level's main theme is the swamp or the broken ship. Or the 3rd world that entails the bee hive theme.

Wow, just wow: What a great level. The music and the level design are fantastic. And even if it is tough to get to the finish for sure... yet it is so well balanced, challenging but fair. Well done!
By the way: Am I the only one who expected some weightlessness in the last third of the level? When the kongs were that high up in the air?

This project is not mine, I just contributed by creating some levels. Unfortunately I still don't have more information about how it's going, as it depends on the developers having time to invest in it.

Is this a reupload? The barrel sections are great. The rest in between STILL too mixed up with unconnected randomly thrown in gimmicks.
This level was released for a speedrun event so there are some things in the level design that are a bit random. As it was a level that was already released a few years ago, you've probably already seen it on another channel, so I decided to bring it to mine as a way of registering my portfolio
