Glad to see you on my channel. In this video, I built an A-shaped house out of planks in the woods.
I started construction, as always, from the foundation, that is, the place for the house. After finishing work on the site, I moved on to the frame of this charming house.

Do the wooden orange slices provide additional insulation or are they just for cutsies?❤
they are just for cutsies. or the aesthetics. i have noticed a number of these builders focus way more on the aesthetics than they should. nothing wrong with something looking nice at the end. but it shouldn't be done at all if it means sacrificing the insulation of the shelter. i noticed in this video big gaps on the back window wall of the a frame at the bottom. no way this thing would keep you from freezing to death on a cold winter night. i also saw it in another of his builds where the ceiling inside of the dugout is nothing but the exterior lumber and the strotex covering meant to insulate from moisture. there was literally no real ceiling inside and you can clearly see outside on the front and most likely the back with a wide 2 to 3 inch gap opening all the way across the front facing wall and rear wall. so i am learning a lot of these are just for looks. they aren't capable of really being true survival structures. great little spring and summer dwellings. but definitely not over a winter. especially in the mountains. my thinking is telling me if you are going to do all this detailed work then why leave out something as vital as proper structure insulation? check out Luxon here www.youtube.com/@luxonbushcraft on youtube. He never leaves out the insulation aspect and is superb at building any kind of shelter,dugout or cabin. His log cabin build and rennovation of an old stone house are top notch.
