    Chocolate, red cherries, almonds, vanilla, and praline. Full bodied, rich, and lusciously sweet with rich, dark red fruits and a long finish. We use natural almond and chocolate flavorings in this wine.
    CLASSIC FLAVOR PROFILES OF VARIETAL
    Like most chocolate wines, our Vin Chocolat Almond is made by infusing red wine with chocolate flavoring. Some chocolate wines also contain dairy products like cream, but we skip the cream to get a pure chocolate flavor that compliments the red wine.
    VARIETAL FACTS
    Chocolate is native to Mexico and was originally consumed as a beverage. The Olmecs, whose ancient civilization was in the Mexican states of Veracruz and Tabasco, were making a fermented beverage using the fruit from cacao trees as far back as 1500 BCE.
    HISTORY
    The first recorded recipe for chocolate wine is by English writer Hannah Woolley from her 1670 book "The Queen-Like Closet." Not only did she record the first chocolate wine recipe, but Woolley was a successful physician and was one of the first women to make a professional career from writing, authoring books on household management. Think of her as the Martha Stewart of her day
