- The NEW Ford Focus St is an extremely agile hot hatch that combines performance with practicality. A hot hatchback based on a regular Ford Focus, this Ford Focus ST fourth-generation version (Mk4), which has just been overhauled with a midlife facelift, is a fast but friendly car, though with a starting price of almost £36k it’s far from cheap and there are plenty of outstanding rivals to consider.
Updates to the looks for the Focus ST facelift include a larger front grille, which now incorporates the Ford badge, which was previously on the bonnet and Matrix LED headlights are now fitted as standard. There is a new Mean Green paint option, and some changes to the alloy wheel designs.
On the inside you get the latest Ford Sync 4 infotainment system and some comfortable Ford Performance seats.
The Focus ST is only available as a five-door hatchback or as a larger estate car. Engine wise you get a 280bhp, four cylinder, 2.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with the diesel now discontinued.
The Focus ST's handling and gorgeous short throw manual gearbox make it a joy to drive, while the suspension is soft enough for everyday use, providing you stay away from the stiffer settings. There's plenty of rear seat space and stacks of standard equipment so my verdict is get down to your Ford showroom and give one a test drive, you gonna love it....

That intro is a bit too long if you'd ask me, but good review. It is a bit too expensive considering how many things you have to pay extra for. But at least it's still a good chassis!

Plan on ordering one of these in the new year. I though the rear camera was standard, shame. But glad you told us about it otherwise I wouldn't have specced the parking assist pack. Great detailed review. :)

Great review, ours arrives in 5 weeks.
Ordered it at the start of the year but the chip shortage meant it was only built last week.
Just come across this one. Very good and fair review. I am approaching three years ownership of the mk4 ST in orange fury (pre-facelift) so can say the ST is a very very good car. Few points, I don't know if it still an option, but I also have the pan roof, along with the BLISS (blind spot) mine has cross traffic alerts front and rear, the HUD is a must. A channel here at YT took the Mk4 to 164mph on the autobahn so I don't think it is limited to 155mph.
Lastly, there are some great aftermarket tunes available from Mountune and Dreamscience. From a straightforward map through to exhausts and induction kits for the more powerful maps. I have run the M330 map from Mountune problem free and that just adds a final sparkle. Mine is mapped to 330PS and 515NM. Once again, good review.
What other mountune parts did you put with the m330 ?

I'm a Ford nut and currently drive a remapped ST-3 Mk3, but I think when I finally move on from it I will go for the Mk3 RS. Same engine as the car you've featured but has AWD.
If I were to change to a newer car I think I'd go for the Hyundai i30n though.
Any chance of you getting hold of a i30n and reviewing it?
Would the new ford focus st x automatic still pop n bang??

@@AJThePlayerRUclipsChannel Two totally different cars. Drove the fiesta st then drove out in the focus mk4 not this facelift and it was a no-brainer. Had my mapped ST three years this year.
@@andrewmaple9863 Two totally different cars. The fiesta is a rollerskate whereas the Focus St is an expensive long board. If you are interested check my channel out, had my mapped MK4 Focus ST coming up for three years.

I've had my st for 1 Year now my mpg is 28
My 1.5 ST Line X does the same at 28mpg (it's terrible for such small capacity), my mk4.5 arrives in two weeks, so will enjoy the additional performance at similar cost, seems a no brainer

Frost white, as its my 5th Focus ST/RS, and only had white in Fiestas previously.

I've got the MK4 pre MCA, my advice is avoid it - nothing but issues with it.

@Norbert Lesko Previous Ford vehicles, both CV and PV have been OK, the MK4 ST 2.3 are built in Germany as I'm sure you're doubtless aware, but this vehicle has been a nightmare, a mixture of poor dealership and FoB&I communication etc also does not help matters.

How much time you had to wait for it until delivery?
You can get a Golf R for the same amount of money. You would be an utter mug to fork out 37k on an ST.

The fiesta seems a better bet to me
Fiesta is a 1.5L and in the focus its a 2.3L, not really the same..
Utterly different car. Luxury long board versus a rollerskate.
