I have Oliver & Company on VHS as "Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection" and it's still as excellent of a movie as ever and I still don't understand why people overlook Oliver & Company. it's truely a one-of-a-kind Masterpiece!
It came out the same weekend at The Land Before Time, which was a very grand and beautiful movie. Oliver and Company is a good movie but it competed with a better animated classic. If this came out at a different time it could have been a hit.
@@RPGFlare64 You know what...This is totally accurate. The story had some weird jumps to it, but the animation and songs were pretty neat! Still a great movie overall

My most favourite part in this song is when all the dogs join in on Dodgers song and follow him up the street singing and walking along to the beat as they follow him 😁❤️
I work in an office. I'm listening to my favorites playlist on headphones. This comes on. I'm now mouthing along and swinging my head around to this music, silently rocking out. hahaha
I loved this movie from my childhood Dodger was one of my favorites ever watching this when I hear this song it makes me wanna dance, and not care or worry about what people say about me how I look, or what I wear it brings me confidence in myself. It's 2016 and I still love to watch and listen to this song and movie every time it comes on when the dogs and dodger say "Whoo Whoo Whoo Whoo" I join in part of that song in that lyric I gotta say this was my favorite Disney song ever.
I know Im late but this movie is overlooked because it lost to 'The Land Before Time' at the box office. If I remember correctly, they were released the same week
My theory, after its initial release in 1988, Disney skipped over releasing it on home video, which didn't happen until 1996. I think it may have gotten a lot more attention, and been better known, had it been released on VHS a year after was originally in theaters.
Every time this song comes on when I'm walking across campus, I start strutting. This song makes me feel so badass and I mouth every single word to a T.
I just realized, Disney helped some great music from both the piano men come to life. Here, it's Billy Joel, and to a greater extent, "The Lion King" did with Elton John.
Yup. I’ve seen them twice in concert together too they’re something else. Disney always had a habit of getting notable artists of the day to provide music for their films. Even way back in the day the Beatles were supposed to play the vultures in the Jungle Book.
Wow! I remember singing this song when I was a little girl! Love this song and this whole Disney movie! According to the news, Billy Joel came out with the ‘Piano Man’ 50 years ago today!❤❤❤🎹🎹🎹🔥🔥🔥
I have enjoyed this movie ever since I first watched it, I really would love to watch it again but I don't have it on DVD and I'm not sure where to find it. But I'm definitely gonna keep an eye out in case I find it and decide to watch it again.
Oliver & Company really was the first modern Disney animated movie. That's not mean that the old ones was bad (far from it), but the formula was changed. The Black Cauldron was the last old style and The Great Mouse Detective was sort of a bridge between the two generations.
When comes the day you are forced to read Oliver Twist in school and instead read spark notes before watching Oliver and Company, because the source material is SO depressing.
Remember the days when Disney use to entertain us? This movie is better than the agenda driven garbage nowadays as it’s entertainment this delivered. Great song
I was at a party back in college. My buddy shut the music off, seriously was pissed off, and yelled, "EVERYONE!! Shut the F**k up! Can we seriously, honestly, agree, that after the song, "Why Should I Worry?" No one, I repeat, NO ONE, cares about 'Oliver & Company'?" Remember I had no context to their prior conversation, but when someone beside me asked to themselves, "The hell does that have to do with...?" I interrupted with.. "No. No. That song is amazing. He's got a point..."
The best part is that this song is almost at the very beginning of the film after Dodger's only had a few lines and seems to serve no real purpose beyond confirming that yes that actually IS Billy Joel voicing him. It's so great though.
