I'm guessing they never programmed the spike ball to differentiate between horizontal and vertical speed, and being picked up by the tracked platforms tricks it into thinking it's going to overshoot mario so it overcorrects, veering wildly for no reason.
Imagine in 10 years when Nintendo shuts down Mario Maker 2, and people start to clear all levels and stumble into that horrible mess thanks bearware 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The spike ball momentum is a bit jank, but it's really straightforward if you understand basic physics lol. Yes, it's a video game, and has Mario physics... but that ball isn't perfectly round and has a very simplistic momentum system lol. Once you get that, it's just the patience needed to figure out where all the walls are and the path you need.
If I were to login to the Matrix as GOD, and reverse the Axis of time using the 7 Thunders codes, we could remove all the empty space between atoms and in the universe to cause a second big bang where time flows in reverse. I simply have to turn Thunder 2 into 8, so that thunder 6 is in the past. This would be a very bad idea though.
