- A description on how to tape the shoulder with kinesio tape (KT)
KT tape is waterproof and you should round off the corners at the end of each strip to prevent it from lifting/peeling. Never apply stretch to the ends of the tape and can be left on for 3-5 days
Have patient seated or standing, with back straight and shoulders back
Cleanse skin of any oil, cream or massage wax, and trim hair if needed
Cut and I strip and anchor half way down the arm
Get patient to cross arm over chest, and using 25% stretch tape around to the shoulder blade
Cut a second I strip and anchor in the same place as the previous strip
Get patient to rotate and extend arm, and using 25% stretch tape around to collar bone
Cut a third I strip and anchor at shoulder blade
Using 30% stretch bring around the side of the shoulder and anchor to the chest
Cut a final I strip and anchor at the front of the shoulder
Using 30% stretch bring across the top of the shoulder and anchor on to shoulder blade
Gently rub the tape to activate the glue
