Here in Europe you can get it with either a 1.6 diesel 130 HP or 1.2 gas turbo with 130 HP. Diesel gets around 45 mpg and the gas turbo 38-40 mpg. The 0-60 time is around 11 seconds for both. Decent but nothing to get excited about.
Nissan Qashqai is popular in Europe and as "Nissan European design director Stephane Schwarz" has said: "It's an Urban Nomad. It's tough and compact for the city but sleek and agile for journeys away from the town".
Thanks for the great review. Very accurate. I own this same vehicle, same color too but 2018.5 model. Nice vehicle but sorely underpowered. Nimble through a major city and easy to fit in parking spaces of all sorts. I put dealership installed Continental Extreme Contact DWS Ultra High Performance tires on and it improved the handling much better than the stock Bridgestone Ecopias, especially in the rain. Should have 175 HP and 2017, 2018 SL Premium package should have automatic dimming rear view mirror, electric passenger seat, Bose stereo, driver seat memory. These features are now added to the 2020 model. This is no cheap vehicle, fully loaded with some dealer added items like mud guards, rear bumper protector and door & hood film guards the vehicle is around $35K. I did have a Hyundai Tucson rental for 2 weeks and I liked the Rogue-sport much better overall. I now think I should have gotten a fully loaded CRV or larger Rogue for the money.
Say Tom while you are in the back could you look see and tell us if the model you are reviewing actually carries a spare tire? So many models don’t now adays and a lot of people aren’t aware that they’ve been eliminated from cars and more importantly crossovers in many cases.
Normally I do, not sure why I didn't this time. I've found that most crossovers that have a hint off road ability run with physical spares but I can't remember if Sport has one. Can any one answer his question?
Yeah i saw the review with one on the engineers. But on the Kicks with 125 ponies? My tree frog JUKE S Awd has a 1.6L v6 with turbo and I could outrun both the rogue slipper and air kicks. Granted I wish my frog had more space in the back and Apple car play but I like quirky styling. Since I’ve gotten my Juke I’ve never confused it for any other similar car like I did with a versa sedan.
Oh I forgot. I’m averaging between 31.7 to 31.9 mpg. Be nice if i had the sport and eco mode like in the rogue but the rogue maybe in my future when the Juke is paid off
I didn't even want to do a test drive after sitting in it. The front sun visors are very close to the face, and the rear seat cushion is so hard and uncomfortable. Rear cargo floor height is a bit high. The only thing going for the Rogue Sport is the styling, then again we've seen this design before.
Sub-compact crossovers always seem like a good idea at first, but they're all so doggone slow. They're pricing sucks too. For an additional $500-1000 you can likely get the next size up, which always has more space, more power, and is more comfortable. A hatchback is a better choice and for less than the cost of AWD you can just slap some snow tires on it.
tinhinnh fair point. I guess it depends on where your priorities lie. I'd rather have the space, ride comfort, and power of the larger vehicle as opposed to the extra features like leather, nav, etc.
Lower efficiency in a smaller, lighter, less powerful vehicle in comparison to the standard Rogue? Seems to defy logic. I wish this small SUV segment had more powerful powertrains, even as options though. Rogue Sport looks good!
Other vehicles you would compare to the Nissan Rogue Sport would be Jeep Compass and the new Ford EcoSport. The new Kicks - I’d put Jeep Renegade on that list.
I really would like too trade in my car for this because i do need a CUV, but because of the transmission issue of the CVT and Nissan seems to not do nothing about it, it really disappoints me I’m soo scared i can buy this brand new and have to return it cause of the CVT 🤦🏾♂️
Quashqai is just a less powerful Rogue that's also more expensive when you take incentives into the equation. Working in a Nissan dealership in Canada, the sales have been far below expectations, especially for a launch car with so much money spent on advertising.
Actually wishing the dealerships would embrace the Star Wars thing more. Customers often ask why there isn't much of a Star Wars theme in the dealership... Corporate probably could've done a better job coordinating with their network.
I purchased a 2017 rogue sport don't make the same mistake i made this car is terrible you feel every bump in the road the cvt sucks gas mileage is only about 19 mpg the vehicle always feels like it can't get out of its own way also no power lift gate you will miss it when it rains do your self a favor look at the hyundia tucson more for your money or ford edge if you want to step up good luck getting rid of mine soon.
Qashqai is not hard to pronounce. Known around the world by this name. If anything, it's confusing to call it the Rogue sport.Means Nissan has no other name to think off. Two Nissans with the same name? The bigger Rogue should have retained the Xtrail badge and this smaller car ,the Qashqai. I read that Qashqai refers to an ancient Arabic tribe. Perhaps this name is unpalatable in the US.
This from the Nissan press site- Every 2018 Kicks comes with a standard 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with Continuous Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS). The engine is rated at 125 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. Aided by a smooth and efficient Xtronic transmission, the Kicks has fuel economy1 anticipated at 33 mpg combined. Kicks is offered in front-wheel drive only.
I don't get it..why Nissan are giving us a old facelift similar like the Rogue 2015-16 instead of the European Market and Asia they have the new facelift Qashqai similar like the new rogue facelift 2018..Why Nissan..WHY??
No, crossovers are good but there is too much of them. I do not care about practicality and other stuff and for me car may not have boot and rear doors...
I remember when a great Land Cruiser was the pinnacle in automotive, now there are Too many options, and not So good looking, throw me a good VOLVO wagon instead and I'd make my day!
Its a good little SUV, just too slow and boring, Nissan should add a turbo to the inline 4, and get rid if that CVT and throw in a dual clutch gearbox with paddle shifters
Oh man, why, why, why??? If affordablity is your concern, shop Kia, this is just such a disappointment in the real world (and judging by your words and demeanor you "perhaps" agree) This vehicle remains in the "passe" lane. Sport?? really
This is a garbage car. Who looks at a normal rogue and says, "I sure wish this was smaller". Just save your money and get the thing you actually want. But then again that's not nissan's demographic.
There is literally no point to this car and I don't know why Nissan even brought it over here. I'm tired of Nissan giving us these weak engines one thing I can't stand is a slow car.
It’s looks really good but I wouldn’t touch it with no paddle shifters and that extremely underpowered slow engine!
I don’t see the point of this. I mean, it costs pretty much the same as the normal Rogue but is smaller and has a less powerful engine
So you get the same or worst mpg with less space.
Shut up and take my money!
This channel is very good! it is only car reviews, how simple and useful is this ? much :)
In my opinion, this car is a home-run, except the engine. I drive Nissan CVTs and don't mind them, but this is underpowered.
Happy Holidays Tom and Martin! Thanks for the reportage!
You always have flawless reviews so thank you Tom and also thank you Martin, oh and thank you Evil twin lol
Happy Holidays Tom, your family and the other guy(s)!
Very good review! Black is my choice too
Thanks, Tom.
Thanks. Martin.
Tom - good one with the "cow catcher" 👍🏻
Great reviews this year Tom! Thank you as a fan and Happy New Year to you and your family!!!
Nissan Qashqai is popular in Europe and as "Nissan European design director Stephane Schwarz" has said:

Just remember Tom, that every superhero needs a reliable sidekick. Martin is the Morocco Mole to your Secret Squirrel.
Yeah, but I can't get him to wear the costume.
Answered question...Thx!!
Hey Tom. Great Review. Nissan should have just put the Juke's engine in this vehicle so the sport would not be too far off. I'm just saying.
Thanks for the great review. Very accurate. I own this same vehicle, same color too but 2018.5 model. Nice vehicle but sorely underpowered. I have a Qashqai and I love it
Great jacket Tom. Reviewing in style.
Yes, this shot from behind the fallen tree looks very cool. No, a reviewer of your caliber should not re-use it.
Mmmm, that plastic panel flex at 1:16, just the pinnacle of quality.
Great video!
Qashqai is popular in Euro and I always find it attractive. But why put a weak engine in it?! I want to see a Juke performance in this (and Kicks).
Pity that you don't get the 1.6 diesel version. It fits perfectly with the CVT-box
Say Tom while you are in the back could you look see and tell us if the model you are reviewing actually carries a spare tire? So many models don’t now adays and a lot of people aren’t aware that they’ve been eliminated from cars and more importantly crossovers in many cases.

Brands will slap a sport on anything

Daniel Collin ya but you get a base model

Great review. Im glad my girlfriend bought the Jeep Compass over this Rogue Sport.
Una descripción del Rogue Sport SV AWD 2018.5, Interior y exterior por favor si es posible, gracias.

Destr0yer58 Star Wars fans haven’t been piling into the dealership??
Actually wishing the dealerships would embrace the Star Wars thing more. Customers often ask why there isn't much of a Star Wars theme in the dealership... Corporate probably could've done a better job coordinating with their network.
Destr0yer58 Interesting that Nissan Canada kept the Qashqai name - I wonder how they made that decision
Nissan cvt.....I’m shocked the transmission made it through the video review
Neat SLOW vehicle.
Nissan Kumquat
Torque converter transmission please!!
Thi vehicle looks great now, when I first saw it I thought it looked horrible. Not all cars need keyless ignition 😒
This thing is too sharp to be this weak, shame on u Nissan.
Nissan SUVs have been under powered for years
Mike Harris On par for the class
The Japanese don't care anymore.
You'd be insane to get a loaded SL AWD over a CR-V EX-L. The resale on a Rogue Sport probably won't be kind.
Ivan Vojt diff class
Yes & the same price.
the back looks like the old Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
Nissan has to change those CVT Transmission's their killing the brand

Will the kicks get the jukes turbo engine?

Driven Car Reviews that's too bad, but here's hoping they'll eventually offer the turbo as an option.
I don't get it..why Nissan are giving us a old facelift similar like the Rogue 2015-16 instead of the European Market and Asia they have the new facelift Qashqai similar like the new rogue facelift 2018..Why Nissan..WHY??
Might not drive sporty, but it sure does look sporty........
Bextar636 thats the trend these days
Should have bought a Rogue instead of an Accord
Like for the work you do Tom .. not for the vehicle..
Not for me!
Nissan Rogue... Relax?
I’m so bored with this crossovers
Kacper B I'd prefer a wagon/estate/avant.
No, crossovers are good but there is too much of them. I do not care about practicality and other stuff and for me car may not have boot and rear doors...
Agreed- just too many CUV's. They have their appeal for sure.
Mario Dalla Riva I was about to say that, a good Volvo wagon instead!
Sport means smaller, now. Nothing to do with the engine.
These cvts🙄. Where are the tinted windows 😐
Nissan CVT 🤔
I remember when a great Land Cruiser was the pinnacle in automotive, now there are Too many options, and not So good looking, throw me a good VOLVO wagon instead and I'd make my day!

That's called a Porsche Macan
Oh man, why, why, why??? If affordablity is your concern, shop Kia, this is just such a disappointment in the real world (and judging by your words and demeanor you "perhaps" agree) This vehicle remains in the "passe" lane. Sport?? really
willie s johnson Kia sucks doe
chocolatewheelchair just no
Blake Swan bruh I test drive them. I think they’re crappy cars.
chocolatewheelchair a Nissan or Kia?
chocolatewheelchair I owned a Kia Sportage. Fantastic suv. Mom had a rogue. Cvt went 2 times in 5k miles. I don't test drive bruh. I own
Do you own a Voelkswagen? 😂
Tom drives a Cadillac ELR, he mentioned that in a past video. He got a screaming deal on it.
This is a garbage car. Who looks at a normal rogue and says, "I sure wish this was smaller". Just save your money and get the thing you actually want. But then again that's not nissan's demographic.
headcas620 this competes with another class
The whole class is stupid. Who looks at a CRV or CX-5 and says "I wish this was smaller"? No one. They're just catering to stupid people.
You’re so off kilter
Go buy what you want idiot.
There is literally no point to this car and I don't know why Nissan even brought it over here. I'm tired of Nissan giving us these weak engines one thing I can't stand is a slow car.
S a l a d
The Juke. So ugly. Right up there with the Ponti Aztek. Good riddance.
no thank you!
So its a gigantic piece of shit that should never be legally be sold to anyone as it is a crime???
Too weak for the looks. Nissan, SHAME. ON. YOU.
