Gary I am completely overwhelmed by this review! What a treat for us all. You never ever, fail to surprise us. What a variation - I now struggle to pinpoint my favourite! This restaurant was on the next level (I hate heights too) the views were stunning - in fact breath taking, I agree with the marking, but to be honest, I would have paid more -in fact I thought it was a bargain. The shots that your Son shot were just out of this world. He is very talented. And has a soh like his Dad! You are both amazing and thankyou so very much. Love to you both. x

You’ve lifted my spirits this evening Gary. I’ve been up there a few times with my son and with my recently departed late wife so this was an emotional journey for me! That supersonic lift is something to behold if you have a head for heights as is the spiral staircase with the view of the Gherkin as a backdrop! As you said, it is on the pricey side but the quality fine dining is only part of the overall experience! I’m back in London in 3 weeks so I might persuade my son to take me up there again just for old times sake! I live abroad so I have to make the most of my visits to London at my time of life! Looks a decent place and agreed on the view your channel takes the strain out of finding places 👍🏻, tried Hawksmoor breakfast last week best breakfast I’ve ever had and agree on the black pudding and Victorian sausage. I find it strange how I can actually enjoy watching someone eat. Been watching Gary for a while now and his reviews are brilliant. I have started to watch a review just before I eat my evening meal. Tonight's offering is a sweet chilli chicken thigh, chips, marrowfat peas and half a fresh tomato. Not quite in the Duck and Waffle league but my juices are already running thanks to this video.

Enjoyed as always. Couple of comments..... 1. As a strange coincidence, this restaurant was mentioned by another RUclipsr Kent Survival - a really lovely bloke, who showcases camping/bushcraft. He makes amazing meals over a campfire, and he made duck and waffles after being inspired by this restaurant. How strange that I heard of this restaurant twice in one day. 2. Your post reminds me of a visit my late husband and I made to the restaurant in the CN Tower in Toronto, probably about 20 years ago. I don't remember the food, which probably means it was good, but nothing to rave home about. However, as you said Gary, I'll never forget the experience. Brought up some lovely memories. Thank you.

Must be the thin air up that high, so many one liners from Gary, maybe his way of calming his nerves. I'm fast asleep at 2am and was so surprised so many people were at that restaurant.
No way in that glass-sided lift Gary. A friend had a pig's ear transplant. I asked, 'Can you hear anything? ' He replied, ' Only crackling'. Apart from the height, food looked good. I agree, 8.5.
Really love what you said in your closing comments, the fact that it was ‘memorable’ and that you ‘would remember it for the rest of your life’. That is the ultimate recommendation. I would rather spend my money and go out once a year for one memorable meal as a real treat than have 10 cheaper unmemrable meals in a year.
Love this channel, watch it only after meals, never before. The highest restaurant in the UK is the Ptarmigan Restaurant at 3599 feet or 1097 mtrs on top of Cairngorm Mountain accessed by a funicular railway or a long climb. It shuts for winter due to snow and 100mph winds. On a clear day you can see for ever. 🙂
Gary the Duck and Waffle is 100% an experience restaurant. If I lived in London it would be a go to restaurant for first time visitors or a special occasion. The view is amazing and the food is different and fun. The pig ears and a nice cold beer wonderful and the Duck and Waffle looked really good. This was a lovely video to watch. Quick story... my wife and I had tickets to see A Christmas Carol at Ally Pally the week before Christmas last year. The plan was to see the show and then come to the Duck & Waffle for a late supper as we've never been there. Sadly, due to illness, we were unable to make the trip and so we didn't get to try the restaurant. It is even higher up the "to do" list since seeing this video. Well done, Gary (and cameraman).

Hi Gary, another great review & a brilliant choice for something a bit different. The restaurant reminds me of the dining at the top of Sydney tower. I've never liked waffles much myself & duck I can take it or leave it, so I was really curious to see what you thought of your main. It's a fantastic view from up there & definitely a lovely experience for both locals & tourists to do at least once. Although it"s quite pricey, I'm so glad it isn't just a tourist trap, where you're only paying for the view & then the service + food is a huge letdown... I'm pleased that all-round, it was a fantastic & memorable experience. Til' next time. 🥰💙

Hi Gary, that's just around the corner from where I live, 4 mins walk. Love the place, it's especially nice to go there once in a while if I have been working afternoon/ early night shift and when on my way home, I stop at the Duck and Waffle and have a few beers and definitely some pig ears, it's a traditional Galicia dish as well and I love it. Love the combination between the sirup, the confit, the waffle and the duck egg. Strangely it's as you said, it's clever cooking and you have to be a bit open minded but it's delicious. Never had a dessert there, as I usually have an extra beer as dessert!😅 Another great review, mate and the way you described the dessert, sounds like I have to try it the next time I am on an evening shift. The view is just absolutely stunning and I love the place, sometimes when I am on my way home, my wife meet me there and we can sit there for a couple of hours, just eat and drink a few beers and enjoy the view and each others company. You just cannot beat a duck egg. I keep ducks at home myself, and not ony are they wonderfully entertaining pets, I get a clutch of eggs every morning. Another excellent review, Gary.

I went to the revolving restaurant in Sydney right up the top of a building with a mate and 2 birds in 1986, we traveled on the overnight train from Melbourne to go and see "CATS" and picked up the 2 birds in the club carriage on the way !!.......... jeez there you go, 36 years ago !! ........ so yes, those types of experiences you never forget, stay with you like they were yesterday. I had a cold squid dish which was not the good but memorable.

Hi Gary. That really was a great review. One of your best without doubt. Your enthusiasm is infectious. The food looked very nice but the main attraction is obviously the view. Not somewhere you'd go on a regular basis perhaps but perfect for a special occasion. Next time I'm down in London I'll definitely give it a go.
I knew right away the duck combo would work; I use a sauce with maple syrup and dijon on diverse meats and sweet works with ducks. And there is nothing more delicious than a good lemon curd.

It looks like an amazing place to go for a once in a lifetime dining experience! The main course portion was not worth £26 for sure (I was shocked at how small it was) but the pig ears and dessert looked yummy! I can't imagine eating a large meal that late at night/early in the morning, so I appreciate you "taking one for the team", Gary!😊❤
It's one of my go-to places when I'm visiting London! I'm so glad you also liked this restaurant! Agreed, it's not the cheapest of places, and perhaps more for a friends and family visit thing, rather than a romantic dinner. I've never seen it not busy, so it's never a quiet spot. I also like the bar area downstairs, it has a lovely outside terrace. The view is the cherry on the cake! They used to have a second location near Picadilly (on the ground floor!!) but that lacked the atmosphere. I agree with your score, and now I have to start planning a visit to London again! 😆

Really love what you said in your closing comments, the fact that it was ‘memorable’ and that you ‘would remember it for the rest of your life’. That is the ultimate recommendation. I would rather spend my money and go out once a year for one memorable meal as a real treat than have 10 cheaper unmemrable meals in a year.

Love this channel, watch it only after meals, never before. The highest restaurant in the UK is the Ptarmigan Restaurant at 3599 feet or 1097 mtrs on top of Cairngorm Mountain accessed by a funicular railway or a long climb. It shuts for winter due to snow and 100mph winds. On a clear day you can see for ever. 🙂

Gary the Duck and Waffle is 100% an experience restaurant. If I lived in London it would be a go to restaurant for first time visitors or a special occasion. The view is amazing and the food is different and fun. The pig ears and a nice cold beer wonderful and the Duck and Waffle looked really good. I am thrilled you stayed up past your bedtime and ignored your fear of heights to review this restaurant. Outstanding video Gary I really enjoyed it! Have a beautiful weekend.........Cheers.

This was a lovely video to watch. Quick story... my wife and I had tickets to see A Christmas Carol at Ally Pally the week before Christmas last year. The plan was to see the show and then come to the Duck & Waffle for a late supper as we've never been there. Sadly, due to illness, we were unable to make the trip and so we didn't get to try the restaurant. It is even higher up the "to do" list since seeing this video. Well done, Gary (and cameraman).

Hi Gary, another great review & a brilliant choice for something a bit different. The restaurant reminds me of the dining at the top of Sydney tower. I've never liked waffles much myself & duck I can take it or leave it, so I was really curious to see what you thought of your main. It's a fantastic view from up there & definitely a lovely experience for both locals & tourists to do at least once. Although it"s quite pricey, I'm so glad it isn't just a tourist trap, where you're only paying for the view & then the service + food is a huge letdown... I'm pleased that all-round, it was a fantastic & memorable experience. Til' next time. 🥰💙

Hi Gary, that's just around the corner from where I live, 4 mins walk. Love the place, it's especially nice to go there once in a while if I have been working afternoon/ early night shift and when on my way home, I stop at the Duck and Waffle and have a few beers and definitely some pig ears, it's a traditional Galicia dish as well and I love it. Love the combination between the sirup, the confit, the waffle and the duck egg. Strangely it's as you said, it's clever cooking and you have to be a bit open minded but it's delicious. Never had a dessert there, as I usually have an extra beer as dessert!😅 Another great review, mate and the way you described the dessert, sounds like I have to try it the next time I am on an evening shift. The view is just absolutely stunning and I love the place, sometimes when I am on my way home, my wife meet me there and we can sit there for a couple of hours, just eat and drink a few beers and enjoy the view and each others company. I went to the revolving restaurant in Sydney right up the top of a building with a mate and 2 birds in 1986, we traveled on the overnight train from Melbourne to go and see "CATS" and picked up the 2 birds in the club carriage on the way !!.......... jeez there you go, 36 years ago !! ........ so yes, those types of experiences you never forget, stay with you like they were yesterday. I had a cold squid dish which was not the good but memorable.

Not somewhere you'd go on a regular basis perhaps but perfect for a special occasion. Next time I'm down in London I'll definitely give it a go.

I knew right away the duck combo would work; I use a sauce with maple syrup and dijon on diverse meats and sweet works with ducks. And there is nothing more delicious than a good lemon curd.

It looks like an amazing place to go for a once in a lifetime dining experience! The main course portion was not worth £26 for sure (I was shocked at how small it was) but the pig ears and dessert looked yummy! I can't imagine eating a large meal that late at night/early in the morning, so I appreciate you "taking one for the team", Gary!😊❤

It's one of my go-to places when I'm visiting London! I'm so glad you also liked this restaurant! Agreed, it's not the cheapest of places, and perhaps more for a friends and family visit thing, rather than a romantic dinner. I've never seen it not busy, so it's never a quiet spot. I also like the bar area downstairs, it has a lovely outside terrace. The view is the cherry on the cake! They used to have a second location near Picadilly (on the ground floor!!) but that lacked the atmosphere. I agree with your score, and now I have to start planning a visit to London again! 😆
