David Knopfler left two years before Terry Williams joined - I believe he and Mark still aren't talking. That's Hal Lindes on rhythm guitar.

You are probably right Margaret, but Mark Knopfler did a one off concert on the Jools Holland show, I think it ended up being called "A night in London" and on that show there was a guy who played slide guitar called Sonny Landreth, I think he's an American but that was a show I watched from start to finish, so I had the advantage of watching Mark Knopfler introduce him. 😄😄

'Lillytic' is a talented air guitarist, air drummer and air pianist - and she changes between the three effortlessly! Also, she is very perceptive with her comments on what the audience likes! 😝With the musical education she is getting it wouldn't surprise me to see her in 10-20 years making her own music and topping the charts.

David Knopfler left Dire Straits in 1980, this was Hal Lindes. And Guy Fletcher joined Dire Straits after this tour after Mark worked with him on a movie score, it was Tommy Mandel as second keyboardist here with Alan Clark as primary keyboard player

    • @Lilly8Listens
      @Lilly8Listens  5 месяцев назад +1

Yes somebody has already mentioned that it wasn't David Knopfler, and I have to admit that I don't really know what David Knopfler looks like, but I do know that he wasn't around long. I should have remembered Alan Clark, and I didn't even know about Tommy Mandel. Thanks for all that Steven. I'm not one of those people who objects to being put right, I'd much rather gain the knowledge, than be totally wrong about something.

I love it that you love it Lilly!
I was at this gig, plenty of lunatics there!
The whole place was rocking, we were on the balcony and I swear it was jumping up and down!
You don't appreciate it so much at the time, but this is one of the best gigs ever recorded. I was 18 and the only other band I had seen was the Rolling Stones (Still Life Tour at Wembley, ask Grandad) I thought at the time this was normal, its not, so savoir the moment.
Your grandad is right, Terry Williams was outstanding, he played like that for over two hours!
BTW, Alan Clark was on the keyboards, another great player, with Tommy Mandel on backing keys.

Thanks Richard, yes people have pointed out that Guy Fletcher came along later, and that David Knopfler wasn't there either. The thing that gets me with this concert as far as RUclips are concerned, is that you are allowed to use this song on RUclips, but if you try doing Telegraph Road from the same concert, it's a totally different story, they won't have it. I showed it to Lilly, it got taken down very quickly, I appealed, (that often works) but again they said no.

Yoyoka is a Japanese girl drummer: _Good Times Bad Times - LED ZEPPELIN / Cover by Yoyoka , 8 year old_ ruclips.net/video/91pz1E8pAOY/видео.html Yoyoka is self-taught. During lockdown Yoyoka made a remote video with Li-sa-X who was 15yo: _Joe Satriani - Satch Boogie / Coverd by Li-sa X & Yoyoka_ ruclips.net/video/ryJr2-xENvA/видео.html More recently Yoyoka played with Ellen an American bassist: _Led Zeppelin - The Ocean (Cover) by Ellen, Eva, Mateo and YOYOKA_ ruclips.net/video/Oezh5Y1qutc/видео.html Ellen was 9yo, Mateo on guitar 15-16, Eva 16-17 and Yoyoka was 12yo. Yoyoka had never even met them before they recorded in the studio. Ellen had only played once before with Eva, and twice with Mateo. A Yoyoka fan who was there (driving Yoyoka and her dad around) said the audio is the first take. Yoyoka's audio is always one take, no edits. But the video is multiple takes because there was only one camera operator, Ellen's dad Hovak Alaverdyan. Hovak also mixed the audio and made the video.
Best Wishes to you Both for a Healthy, Happy, Peaceful New Year. ☮
PS - I have no relationship whatsoever with Yoyoka, Li-sa-X, Ellen, Eva, Mateo, or anyone supporting them. I'm just a fan who enjoys watching young people play 'the classics'.

I looked for it just the other day, because I think we should try and do things for the people who support our channel. I did see that there were a few different versions on RUclips, and I was trying to remember who wanted us to take a look at it, and what version had been suggested, and Secret world live did ring a bell.
I think I got about 90 seconds into it, before coming away from the video because if we do do it, I want it to be new to me too, and much of it certainly will be.
What scares me, is the length of the video, even doing Sultans of Swing, a video I know so well, I'm always thinking, who in their right mind is going to want to watch us for 10 minutes? but on the plus side, this would be only the second song that we've ever looked at, that I didn't already know, it would be a real reaction video.
I know that you have requested this song a few times, and the advantage you have over some of the other songs I've seen requested, is that I don't already know that I hate it. 😄 So if you think it might be interesting to see Lilly and myself react to this song, watch this space, because I want to do it, but bear in mind that the reason that we don't post regularly is that my time with Lilly is limited.
