This is one of my favorite Dire Straits songs. When they first came out they were so different than anything else at the time. Mark played his own style and didn’t try to sound like the latest trend. I believe that they are bigger now than ever! The SACD format is getting really popular now among audiophiles and Dire Straits is possibly number one in sales. Thanks!
I just love love love that first Dire Straits album. From the opening of Down to the Waterline on, Waterline's still my favorite Dire Straits song probably just because it was the first I heard. "Your hands are cold but your lips are warm". Always nice to hear any of it, see someone else like it.
'Wild West End' is by far my favorite, but as this is the subject of this reaction, I was going to suggest 'Down to the Waterline' and you beat me to it! 😏
Can I guess, Domenika? This is now your favourite Dire Straits song? It is ever so joyful to see the two of you gush over these wonderful musicans. Made my day. Thanks a lot.
I'm such a big fan of early Dire Straits. But this song, this song moves my soul. It's been in my top 10 of all time for a very, very long time. Pure happiness...
I grew up in the era of Dire Straits, no countless songs, and deep cuts...what a Joy, to discover this song with you two. ❤ Love to the Merchants of Alba. What fun.
I'm so glad you got to this one; I knew you'd love it. :) Mark's describing his day as he walks through the Soho section of London, before the band was famous. It's one of my favorites. "Down to the Waterline" and "Lions" are two more from that same first album that I don't believe you've heard yet, and would probably enjoy.
Best of both worlds here! This is the studio recording overlaid on a live performance (which has lesser dynamic quality) Great reaction to a great song)
When the album came out, it was my favourite song ... so personal and fun to play ... a masterpiece from Mark and his band ... I was 19 at the time and imagined the places and events he had described in the song ... I must have heard the song hundreds of times since then and yes, it always puts you in an upbeat mood
I love the smile on your faces while listening to the song. They are one of my youth heroes, so many hours spent listening to them when I was a teenager, so many memories... You should react to "Hand in Hand", a sweet song also from their early days. Also, maybe you heard about it, a new album of Marc is about to be released in April!
Another great reaction to the music that I Iove. Thank you. Dominika, don't worry, we all love his music! (and we all love HIM (Mark))! Andrei, you have such a wonderful wife, full of emotions. It is so nice to see, that you take care of each other so nicely! Linus from Switzrerland
You guys are an absolute godsend .... you come across so happy and really nice people. Godbless you both. Keep these knopfler/dire straits vids coming. Takecare guys 😊❤
I think Mark is a great observer. I think much of what he writes are observations he makes. Stuff he runs into. And then he's a great writer, poet even maybe with ability to make it into a story. Story in words and music.
Takes one back to their London youth ...China Town after a night on the tiles for a feed... flirting with the female bus conductors.. hanging out with your mates..i love the rhythm provided by Mark's signature National Duolian Resonator, the same he uses on Telegraph Road.
Ooooh, Andrei, I was also looking at Dominika's face. At one point during the song I was thinking she'd also love to make Mark feel 19 🤣 I jest, of course. I love your appreciation, both of you, for Mark and Dire Straits, and I love your reactions to him and Dire Straits in particular. You guys are doing an amazing job and it's a disgrace that you're not already at 250k subscribers. Come on folks, hit that subscribe button so we can keep hearing these great reactions. Much love to you both, as always ♥
Wonderful reaction! I am so happy to see you share the same joy for Dire Straits. I think there is a bit of a different energy and lightness to their early songs. Don't know if you prefer to react to live performances or the studio versions, but any of the songs from Rockpalast are great. 'Lions' and 'Southbound Again' are two of my other favorite songs from their debut album.
Hey guys, another great reaction. Someone in the comments suggested Lights Of Taormina from Mark's album called Tracker from 2015. His voice in this track is incredible, you'll freak out lol. Plus the song itself is gorgeous. Anyway loving your channel. Cheers all the best 👍🎸🎸🎸
Dear Domenika & Andreis You seem to like early Dire Straits. As I do!!! I suggest you to listen to "late" Mark Knopfler as well, for example "Tracker". It is just great music in my opinion. Listen to "My heart has never changed" (Tracker Album Mark Knopfler). A song that always accompanies me on my job as an airline pilot... when I'm far from home. Best regards, Linus
Thank you for this beautiful reaction. Although this version appears to be live, it is not the audio that appears on the first studio album. If you can see the Rockpalast one it is incredible, ruclips.net/video/zSJTkNhtHVc/видео.html and so are the later ones like this one from Stuttgart from 1985 ruclips.net/video/oBZZlwVLOUE/видео.html. Thanks friends!
Mark just doesn't know how to write a bad song. This is such a lovely laid back song.
From the Dire Straits album - "Six Blade Knife" I love this simple little song. It has Mark's voice and his beautiful guitar!
Not one bad song on that album!
Tunnel of Love.......geez that guitar solo sounds amazing.
This and Water of Love got me hooked on Dire Straits.
My favorite from Dire Straits

Incredible album and incredible song! And indeed seeing them play it live makes it even more special!
I praise your good musical taste
Every Single Song on On Every Street Album. Listen to calling Elvis. Planet of New Orleans. The Bug. Fade to Black. The entire album is beautiful.
I just love love love that first Dire Straits album. From the opening of Down to the Waterline on, Waterline's still my favorite Dire Straits song probably just because it was the first I heard. "Your hands are cold but your lips are warm". Always nice to hear any of it, see someone else like it.

This and "Lions" are my favorite Dire Straits songs. Another wonderful reaction!
The combination of finger picking and the touch of the strings is unbelievable no one plays like Mr knopler.
The second guitarist is David Knopfler, Mark's brother. David played with Dire Straits in two albums, Dire Straits and Communiquè

I really love you guys when you have Dire Straits/Mark Knopfler reactions.. and I really understand your enthutiasm for this excellent musician !
This album is the one I would pick if I was marooned on an island and could only listen to one for the rest of my life.
Another great reaction to the music that I Iove.

Mark Knopfler is releasing his 10th solo album in April! There’s a single already available here on YT, “Ahead of the Game.” Classic Mark !!
He's walking in London's west end with a buddy. A rough seedy area in London.
