  • PART 2
This E39 530d Sport (Manual) belongs to staff member Luke.
Being a staff vehicle we wanted to test the quality and fit of using the aftermarket Sill Panels available on eBay.
The corrosion growth around the Front Jacking Points and Sills has been getting larger and technician Luke decided it was time to investigate.
We knew the Genuine BMW Panels were either £495 or £1997 EACH SIDE depending on how long a section you need.
So we Luke was kind enough to be our guinea-pig and try a set of the aftermarket Sill Panels commonly available on eBay for around £100 per pair.
We will have more info on our website regarding E39 Sills & Jacking Points soon.

I never thought a sill could be a thing of beauty. But it is.

I'm a long time Subscriber and absolutely hooked!! I love your attention to detail. Your Work is absolutely Phenomenal. I currently drive a Bmw E39 530i Touring and will be bringing my car to you when I take delivery of my New Car. I will be in touch once I get my new Wheels.

Such a great video, makes me wonder if there’s still hope for my e36 with very bad sill corrosion.

Thanks for the info about the replacemenr sils! Mines not even a quater as bad as this, but most likely i will be needing these. Makes it easier than standing there and fabricating patch panels like i did with my old volvo

Update: Didnt need to weld a thing. just surface rust. Treated with epoxy and raptor liner.

I am going through the same thing on my E39, but the rust gets to the inner and rear panels😢

You don’t get corrosion on the floors? My car has the sills in good shape, just minor surface corrosion, but it has hole on the rear passenger floor, from I guess a failed vapor barrier. Do they make repair panels for it or just make them yourself?

Hi, could I get a ballpark figure to fix one corner like this with tank removal etc. Cheers

How much salt they throw in the roads in the UK? I’m in the northeastern US and our cars don’t go that bad unless we are in the Canada border or next to the ocean….

So does BMW do anything to prevent their vehicles from rusting out entirely??? JFC, I've seen 50 year old vehicles fair better than this.
