    Kenny! I can't thank you enough for this video. It finally saved me from a bunch of headache and frustration. Long story short I hit a pot hole and busted my right front tire(michelin ps4s🙃) replaced the tire. Did an alignment at local german shop and they said that they adjust everything but front camber which was 1.3 left and 2.7 right and visually you can tell that the right front camber is more negative compared to left one. I checked everything in suspension for damage and found nothing bended or damaged. They said it can be anything in suspension. After watching your video when you said strut and knuckle has camber play I was 90% sure that my 2.7 camber moved when I hit pot hole. As soon I loosened these 2 bolts it went to the right "hanging position" and now wheel looks and drives straight!!! I'm going to recheck the alignment as a piece of mind. Again, thank you so much for this video ❤️ it really helped in my case

      @@ExoticCarDIY Update: Went to do "realignment" and told them I fixed the issue with excessive camber on right wheel. They said we are so sorry that we didn't catch that and performed alignment for free of charge. Just a minor adjustments.. Now everything in spec and front camber 1.4 left and 1.5 right 😀❤ If you would be on East coast Florida (Brevard county) I owe you a dinner and beer 😄

    Never knew about the struct bolt adjustment. Hopefully, this works on the w213 as well. Thank you for the video!

    I did alignments for about v25 years. the linoleum sheets are absolutely ingenious. Kudos. The first alignments I ever did were with a camber gauge, scribe and toe bar. This looks pretty easy. If I remember, the alignment bolt has one slot, slot goes toward engine to get max positive camber, out for negative, right? Also, on the strut bolts, take the top bolt out and with a die grinder, elongate top holes of strut to get more adjustment for camber. I generally like 1/4 degree less camber and caster on driver side as most roads are crowned for water drain off, will sometimes drift right because of road, but Mercedes and BMWs are not as sensitive as other cars to road crown. Note, most shops will only set the toe, trust me, i've seen many do it. I stayed busy because every alignment I did was right, or I didn't charge for it. Other techs were eager to take my spot, they thought I stayed busy because of the store location, but it was because of the work I did cultivating customers. 10 years after I left and business there is back to where it was when I started there. Gotta focus on the job at hand, not the paycheck.

      You sound like an alignment shop that I would want to take my car to.
      Yeah, it pisses me off that most shops seem to just set the toe and want to charge you 100 plus dollars and call it an alignment
      It's tedious to diy, but I'm happy with the results.
      There's actually a company called k-mac that makes adjustable bushings you can replace on the control arms that allow for an easy adjustment of up to 2° or so. I had them on my e55, and I just bought them for the E63

    F1 fabrication makes adjustable front & rear control arms for more adjustment. I have them on my CL55. I was on their website yesterday & noticed they have them for w212 AWD too now.

    If the front was wider than the rear it has 1/32" of toe out. What am I missing?

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  Год назад

      If you actually look at the tape measure, the rear was a little bit more than 78, the front was a little less than 78 so yes there was toe in.
      However yes I misspoke on that last sentence and said the 'front' is a little bit wider.
      Sorry I don't use a script

    Do u know how to fix this. I corrected the camber, it also affected the toe. For example, i used the bolt to have more positive camber and that also make the toe more negative (toe out). According to the alignment machine. The camber get postive and toe get more negative (toe out). When i am adjusting the toe from negative to zero, the camber also shfited too from postive to negative. Do u know how to fix this.

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  2 года назад

      Interesting. It's completely normal for the toe to change when making adjustments to camber and caster, that's why you set the toe last.
      However, it's not normal to have the toe affect the other settings. I wonder if the raeading we're just of a little or the car settled.
      Are you using a machine or these telhunzen plates?

    • @third763

      @@third763 The only things I can think of... Do the slip plates move freely?
      Double check the knuckle to strut bolts to make sure they are tight.
      Next is possibly there is a bad bushing in the suspension that's causing too much movement.
      And lastly, is the control arm bolts somehow moved. For example, if you intentionally left them loose, the weight of the car would make the bolt position slide or rotate two more negative camber.
      I would check that those bolts are nice and tight after you make the camber adjustment

    How do you know which side toe is off?

    • @ExoticCarDIY
      @ExoticCarDIY  Год назад +1

      Always make adjustments on both sides equally.
      For example, if you do a half turn on one side, you have to do a half turn on the other side as well. I always think in terms of pulling the wheel in or pushing it out.
