- Join us as we visit Zadar, Croatia in this travel guide covering some of the best attractions and top 10 things to do in the city. Located along Dalmatian coast overlooking the Adriatic Sea, Zadar happens to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in Croatia. Considering our extensive travels in Europe this year, I would say the Old Town of Zadar is the most walkable we've experienced and also where you'll find fascinating attractions such as the sea organ as well as Venetian and Roman ruins.

10 Things to do in Zadar, Croatia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Let's visit Zadar, Croatia together as we cover 10 of the best things to do in Zadar in this travel guide.
Our first stop was Queen Jelena Madijevka Park which has the distinction of being the oldest public park in Croatia. The park looks over the Land Gate which is the main entrance to the Old Town.
During the 16th century, the Venetians helped Zadar withstand the Turkish sieges by building a large water cistern with five wellheads, giving this square its name. These five wells were used to supply the city with water until the year 1838.
Among the ruins of the forum, you might notice there’s one particular Roman column that still stands intact. This one is called the shame post which during the Middle Ages was used to chain and humiliate people who had committed crimes.
The Church of St. Donatus sits in the middle of the Roman Forum and it dates back to the beginning of the 9th century. The church was built in the Byzantine-style in a circular shape - typical of the early medieval construction in Dalmatia. This church has seen many uses from warehouse to museum, but these days it hosts concerts.
Located right next to St. Donatus, the bell tower is actually part of St Anastasija's Cathedral. Climbing this Romanesque bell tower is not for the faint of heart, especially once you reach the spiralling metal staircase on the last floor, but if you make it, you are rewarded with views of the town and the marina.
The meal came to 32 Euros for two mains, two glasses or red wine, and two desserts. The truffle gnocchi was our favourite truffle dish in Croatia.
When it comes to sunset, there are quite a few spots to choose from. We really enjoyed the pier right across from the Roman Forum, however, the Sea Organ is another popular spot. If you do go to the Sea Organ for sunset, you can also check out the Greeting to the Sun, which is another unusual art installation.
This solar-powered work of art lights up in an array of colours once the sun goes down.
Lastly, we leave you with a few scenes of Zadar at night.
We hope you enjoyed this video and we’ll see you in the next one as we continue our travels in Croatia.

If u are near Zadar, check island of Pag (famous for cheese, sheeps, viewpoints, beach "Zrče" (Croatian Ibiza), or second largest city Split (Diocletian's palace, park Marjan..) or go to most famous city of Dubrovnik..
Thanks for the suggestions!
Zadar was such a nice city. We loved it

I was in zadar just a few days ago! I wish I had see. Your video before I was there bc I missed a couple of your great recommendations. What a gorgeous country Croatia is! I didn’t want to come home to Canada at all. Zadar is one of many lovely spots in the beautiful country of Croatia!
i live in Zadar! Its not as big as Canada but its still a beautiful place! :)
@@ivanamicic1959 😄 no, the city of zadar is very teeny compared to the country of Canada. Canada is a huge country! But I love many of the smaller cities in Europe and can’t wait to visit Croatia again ☺️
Love the music
Thank you!
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos would you recommend Zadar or Mostar for a couple of days. I'd like to visit Split and another city nearby for a week on my Europe trip.
I am moving to ciovo this summer next time you guys visit swing through
Thanks! Hope we can soon.
HEY! Croatian here! I love your vids and your channel! A few suggestions: you should have visited the restaurant 2ribara in Zadar (pron. Dva Ribara / Two Fishermen) and you should have eaten white truffles in inland Istria. ;)
Thank you very much! Very much appreciate those suggestions. Locals know best :)
You're welcome. Cheers from Umag, Istria. :)
:)
J ai adoré 🥰🥰🥰
10:47,Excellent video footage guys!
Video technology has come a long way since I purchased Sony Digital-8 camcorder back in 2003. Your footage is just as good (if not better),than what you would get with prosumer type camcorder.
Also there is regular Ferry service from Zadar to Ancona,Italy.
Thank you very much! It is incredible how much camera technology has changed over the years.
Oo good🐻❣
Thanks Bobsy!
Just subscribed you're giving me a lot of ideas on places to visit on our world trip.

Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos ok you guys have a nice christmas and new year.Take care
This summer I will visit Zara, and this video has been enormously useful to me, do you have any other restaurants to recommend? or even nice pubs to attend in the evening? thank you
We follow your videos and take your advice. Today, we ate at Skoblar. They no longer have the gnocchi dish, but a close one made with ravioli. I never thought this was possible, but it had an overload of truffle (how is that even possible?) My husband had the grilled calamari, and it was amazing. Great food, great, view on terrace, really shitty service.
Binge watching your Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia videos. You guys should have way more subscribers. I love how you give real travel advice as opposed to some other channels that just want us to watch their experiences.
Question- I can’t seem to cut down our plans to 2 or 21/5 weeks ! So much to do. Could u recommend how many days/nights you’d recommend for Zadar? Or where to base ourselves in Dalmatia without moving too much? Anyways more travel advice would be great! For example- “we recommend u stay here at least x days and y nights”.. that’s my feedback :) otherwise you two are great!
Thank you very much! One thing we've been reluctant to do is suggest the # of nights someone should stay just because that is such a subjective experience depending on personality and amount and schedule. However, I can say for a place like Zadar and other smaller coastal cities in Croatia, that you can experience all of the sightseeing in a day but to enjoy the vibe more than one night would be recommended.
You should go to plitvice lakes in Croatia they look so pretty love your vids
Mali losinj is the best
Hope you visit next
Thank you!~ Hope we can next time.
♡
Thanks Anita!
Hi guys!! I love your videos! I am actually planning a 2 month euro trip and your videos have been so helpful and are getting me excited as well! I am going to Croatia as part of my trip and love all of your suggestions! I am ending in Dubrovnik and wanted to take the Ferry over to Bari as well! I am going on October so I wanted to check to see if it is running. What is the boat company you used? Thanks guys!! Keep up the awesome videos!
Thank you! That is really exciting to hear. The ferry should definitely be running then as we took the last one of the season and that would have been in late November. We used Jadrolinjija and they were great: www.jadrolinija.hr/en/ferry-croatia
Thank you so much!!
hermoso video saludos desde Argentina!!!!!.
pd/ como sugerencia estaria bueno que mostraran en un mapa el lugar donde se encuentran.
Gracias por la sugerencia!
Being from Zadar this was cool to watch, it's always great to see and hear about your place from the eyes and mouth of foreigners! :) It takes so many years on RUclips to stumble upon some channels, so you got recommended only now, but you have another subscriber :) Love traveling myself so channels like yours is addiction, and I have ton of content to watch from you now. Being photographer and addicted to movement I know every hole here, so if I knew you before I'd gladly offer to take you on the free tour in Zadar's surroundings to show you some spectacular natural sights cause you are cool people :) Yeah, this planet is so amazing and there's so much to see but if you ever come back to Zadar contact me if you wish, I'd be happy to show you around, cheers! :)
Thank you very much! If we come back again we'd love to hear about the best places to take photographs/videos.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos you welcome! If you do I'd be glad to show you!
@@AleksandarGospic Could you share a couple of places with us here? Going in a couple of weeks so i ( and i think others) would love to get some local tips!
Zadar is such a beautiful city. We loved it!
Audrey there’s no way you lived in Korea and never saw a cuttlefish!! Haha cuttlefish is the colloquial way to say the scientific word “cephalopod”? Which includes octopuses and squids. Lolll I was confused about it too for a long time but after seeing it translated as cuttlefish so much in korea I finally did a google and was surprised to find this out! 😂😂
Loved this vid guys, Croatia is on our short list for our 10 year anniversary trip!! 😍
Thank you! LOL, ah that totally makes sense now. Thanks for explaining that and we've definitely had it many times before - especially in Korea ;) Ah, that is great to hear about Croatia! We'd highly recommend it. Wishing you both a happy holidays and new year!
$3.08 to go in the church: it's beautiful

Hey you guys, I really enjoyed your video! I am thinking of visiting Zadar in the end of April, what time of the year were you there? :)
Thank you! We visited late in the fall so it should be warmer when you are there.
How Weather looks like in june? i'm coming this summer.
It must be quite a bit warmer then! Maybe even hot outside.
Ima li nas zadrana???
Fun fact; According to Alfred Hitchcock, Zadar has the most beautiful sunset in the world.
I can see why! Definitely the best sunset we had all year long.
I want to climb the tower, how much was the cost?
BY THE NIGht shots i could tell the camera must be good :D Not 4k but still nice
Thanks! It is a Panasonic GH5.
Samuel and Audrey - Travel and Food Videos i know. Read in description. That’s also kind of my dream camera at the moment because of 4K 60. I bought a g70 with 4K 30 last year to be able to shoot better 4K footage. Gh5 is very cool but very expensive (I’m 17) xD
🎅👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🎅
Thank you!
Where are you from?
My husband and our son who was about 8 years-old at the time went up the bell tower (I stayed down with the youngest who was still in the stroller) and when they came down I can see my son was crying. I asked them what happened, and apparently, as they reached the top the bells went off and scared the crap out of them but my son started crying (he was a scaredy-cat back then). Almost 10 years later, we're still laughing about it, he doesn't remember the incident.
Oh my! That would have been scary. Those bells are so loud up close and they just happen all of a sudden unexpectedly. Glad you can all laugh about it now.
Can you go i Slavonski Brod(this is in Croatia and i live in)
I hope we can someday. What should we do there?
for example, works of renowned soldiers from the war and so on.You can also visit Vukovar. And sorry for bad english(translate) XD
