    I still find the saddest line “tried to call but the dog runs away from me now” because of the whole “dogs can see spirits” thing. The dog was his only company but now it’s forgotten him and is scared of his presence

    Will never get over a how a 20yo youtube rapper took 1 year to self produce a masterpiece, get Danny Brown & Sunday Service Choir on it, then perform at Coachella a year later. The musical glow up is fascinating. Great reaction too! This album gets better with every listen. I'll forever be greatful i found this artist, IDMTHY helped me in some pretty rough times. Earned a sub, keep killing it

    the memories we lost in translation has one of the more pure and beautiful moments if you watch his movie/music video for the full album, it’s filled with his own childhood videos (born yesterday does too) and it’s so sweet seeing all the happy memories he was channeling when making these songs

    some info on fantasyworld: it’s my personal favorite on the album but it’s easily the most devastating song on the album once you know the background. it’s actually the character’s suicide note, which makes the lyrics all the more impactful. hard to keep from crying when i hear that one. absolute masterpiece.

    • @CycleOfJudges
      @CycleOfJudges 5 месяцев назад +2

      I don't wanna be the "aksually" type of knitpicky guy, lol. But that line will never make sense to me. Even in the concept or through the songs.
      There isn't even slightly a "cut to static" there is a FADE to static, which happens after a CUT to black. And I can't unknow that. Everytime I see someone mention this my brain starts spazzing.

    • @EyesDontCry
      @EyesDontCry 4 месяца назад +3

      @@CycleOfJudgesI mean the end kind of does cut to static, the music cuts out and then the static starts and slowly builds.
      If it was a fade to static, the static would be continuing from the music as the music is phased out and the static takes over, but the music quite literally cuts out and then the static starts all by itself, it doesn't fade in.
      The line is congruent with the album, and it makes sense in that he cut his life short, instead of having a "normal end" to his life as a movie normally ends fading to black, he cut his life short and now instead of it being black (him passing on) he is stuck in purgatory, a fuzzy in between of life and death like everything being static (static also visually being black and white but so fuzzy that the distinction isn't clear, further showing the in-between of his purgatory state representing that fuzzy mix between life and death)
      It fits perfectly as far as I'm concerned, I don't see how the line is nonsensical in any way.

    I'm still watching the video so I don't know if you mentioned it, but I definitely recommend checking out Quadeca's full album video he made for this when you're ready to re-listen to this album, the cinematography and locations are really really well done by him and his friend, and they give more context and experience to the songs I feel. Especially for the last track.
    EDIT: Just got to the part where you thought Sunday Service Choir is a sample, Quadeca also has a fun video of the session where they record the song, recommend to also check it out.
    EDIT2: loved your reaction and thoughts. Quadeca really is amazing at being creative - he made this concept album when he was like what, 20-21? It's gonna be crazy to see what he's gonna do in the following years to come. His next album coming soon too!
    Don't know if you've heard his song Sisyphus, but that's when I became a fan and that's when he started to make the transition into becoming a really good songwriter and producer in my opinion.

    One of my favorite albums of all time, until you have that moment where you get it, and you're just living (or spectating) as him, as the ghost after he committed suicide, IN that mindset, begging... pleading to get back, when you go to that place and you don't come back til the album's over, I don't think you feel the same. Or I'm just speaking for myself LMAO. This album is the heaviest, darkest most atmospheric project I've ever had the pleasure to experience, it is a movie and THEN some. He even dropped a movie with a dif music vid leading into each other until the end on his channel and its beautiful. And it's so desolate. Feels like you're away from everything and everybody that ever existed and you're just trapped, talking about everything that happened and renting them, the sorry's, the anger, having to face crazy and depressing shit you did over and over again cause what else are you going to do. Scary shit, I don't know anybody else who could've came up with a scenario in music where you killed yourself, you get mad cause you're family's not there with you, so you go back and try to kill em with poison gas to take them with you, and Danny Brown is the fucking poison gas like do i even gotta explain-- (also someone check up on Quad). For me, you can't get much more haunting than that LMAOOO. I don't like feeling what this album makes you feel in your core, because it's just how I imagine what purgatory would be if it is real.
    PS. After I got the concept, second time I went back to listen to it, memories in translation broke me i don't think i ever bawled as much as i did throughout that song, shit is terrifying it really is haunting, but its okay he didn't mean to so its all g.
