Mine was a serial no. in the 10,000 and had a ML bore. I loved its lightness but it could play in any setting. I think I gave $700 bucks for it new and had it about 25 years and sold it after getting divorced. Stupidest thing I ever did, as for all the used I gave it it was still in as new condition. I was very, very particular on keeping the horn up. It was a rocket ship, and this fellow is demonstrating how easily it was to play in the upper range but it could also be mellow . Played alot in small brass groups with it. I miss it more than my first love!!

my name is lloyd Krivanek from Illinois and studied from Frank Lisanti Frank was a Benge student and also worked for benge i in 1965 bought Benge sr number 1804 a large bore abd i still have it and now at 77 years old i am trying to play again. I think Gordedn also at a time he studied with Benge, because i se him do . ing some of the same things Frank Lisanti had me do way back backin the bid 1960s I hope someone sees this My Benge is great
The Benge trumpet design was heavily based on the early French Besson horns (as were Bachs and many other brands for that matter) and that's how the French Besson horns were designed and built, with the 2nd valve slide facing towards the bell. I believe Benge was the only manufacturer who followed that aspect of the Besson design so closely. As to the "why", if it was felt that there was some kinda advantage to this design, I really don't know.
Anderson C Benge went out of business around 1982 they are now sort of under the umbrella of Conn Selmer I have a Selmer CG at Horntrader.com. Check it out

The Benge has a much better, centered high register -- as your high A's and Bb's prove.
Are Benges no longer in business? Can't seem to find their website...
