    Redmaw's legends is quite interesting, because he was one of the first thunderjaws,right? Hunters just didn't know what it was capable of and its weaknesses, so they couldn't kill it. Redmaw just survived long enough to become legend, but he's no different than other thunderjaws

      Ahsis killed the First Thunderjaw and Thunderjaws were killed in a daily basis so Redmaw wasn't the first Thunderjaw so it had to do with Redmaws design that made him not only an efficient Hunter Killer but also a survivor Because Its rare for a machine to Attack a city or a settlement and survive especially for a Thunderjaw.

      There seem to be too few lgendary machines. Every tribe could or should have at least 1 nemesis.

      @pst5345 5 лет назад +11

      @@summer7034 if it was by design, then every future unit after him was the same but that is not the case. His AI must have had a sudden spike of increased intelligence. Project Firebreak gives a hint in 1 of the messages. One day CYANs Turing score spiked to 0.61. Possible I confuse it with a forged record to hide its capabilities, as CYAN explains her builders hid the true potential due to deliberstely exceeding the self set limitations.
      In any way I am sure Redmaws AI was higher than other machines. It learned.

    • @pst5345
      @pst5345 4 года назад +1

      @Imaru Lewis if you see the individual stats maybe but the most dangerous thing is the AI. Shell walkers gather forces, Drill Horns can use their speed to lure you to predatory machines or rally herdes for stampedes.
      Right now the machines of Gaia were only protecting themselves. The danger rose from Hades, who aggressively attacked the humans. And humans clearly lost that battle if it wasn't not for Eloy.
      But I actually meant "tribe" as in, human tribe. Everyone should have thete Nemesis. Statisticallyit does not make sense that only the Banuk besides Meridians had a legendary beast.

  • @papajawn

    My guess was that whatever cauldron that built Redmaw (Zeta, probably) had a glitch in it's computer core while it was building a Thunderjaw, and accidentally boosted the AI in the machine's computer brain. The result was a much more aggressive Thunderjaw that actively sought out humans and small settlements to eliminate perceived "threats". No other machine does that. Thunderjaws and other combat machines were programmed to defend smaller machines, but not hunt for humans (not until HEPHAESTUS built the Fireclaws, Frostclaws and Scorchers). This machine was smarter and more combat oriented than any other fighting machine. Essentially, it was a mistake that Redmaw was built. The cauldron likely detected the mistake and corrected it, possibly accompanying HEPHAESTUS' objective of culling the population, not killing them.
    TL;DR, Redmaw was an accidental invention when a cauldron had a glitch.

    • @summer7034

      Between the Fire/Frost Claws and Scorchers, the machines The Deamon/Hephestus created were next level dangerous. That said, it's possible they were dangerous only because of the reasources used to craft them, namely, the Firebreak facility which is by far the most over-designed cauldron we encounter so it's not unreasonable to assume it'll be a little time before Hephestus can construct anything else as dangerous to humanity.

      Except for the (CENSORED) Stormbirds!
      Actually, when alone, those Rockbreakers are hard to deal with without a safe firing position.
      I recently watched Aavak, take on those two corrupted Rockbreakers, by Corruption arrowing a passing Shellwalker convoy from across the river.
      Then he just kept corrupting one of the machines, and setting the Rockbreakers on fire.

      That's a really good question Devin, and honestly I wish I had more information to give you. I'm fairly certain Redmaw has more health than your average Thunderjaw, which may equate to it having stronger armor or a slightly modified design, but thats only speculation. I'll do some digging, and if i find anything I'll let ya know!

    • @BionicKing
      @BionicKing 6 лет назад +17

      I've thought about that too. It might be that the machines (or at least thunderjaws) have a rudimentary learning algorithm. The more fights Redmaw had, the more it learned how to fight humans and thus became more advanced.

    • @2vectors708

      My theory is that machines can return to cauldrons and get necessary repairs if needed, we never see it in game because it's a game and we're meant to kill any enemy we combat in it, but machines like that would need regular maintenance from mundane wear and tear to ammo refills to battle damage, it would need to be fixed, maybe not all machines but large 1s like thunder jaws that have a lot of resources put into them, where it would be a larger waste to let it just eventually collapse and having to make a new 1, as oposed to just fixing up a few issues, it was mentioned in game that it showed up and disappeared periodically in different areas and was hard to track because of that, i think this is because it wasn't out and about during those times, it was likely in an undiscovered cauldron bay being repaired after the battles.

    While the Thunderjaws do appear in the opening cinematic, I think that they were only there to make the game look better and their inclusion wasn't given too much thought, just like how they put multiple Tallnecks walking among the other machines. Hephaestus only started creating more agressive machines then, and the Thunderjaw was one of the last.

    How to defeat:
    Stormbird=Attract it's attention. Let it come close. Then Cable the sucker to the ground. Either bash it with the spear or Aim your strongest triple shot at it's breast area. Keep a distance though. Even tied down it can harm you. As soon as it breaks free..Repeat.
    Rockbreaker=This is all about spotting the stoneshitter before it spots you. It becomes aware of you because of...walking. Yes it is sensitive to your footsteps. Try sneaking and it actually has trouble locating you. Distance or a High ground is your golden ticket with it. As it actually has only a finite Area it can move around in. Once outside of that it can only spit rocks at you. If there are multiple Rockbreakers that is the strategy to go with.
    ThunderJaw=Honestly my favourite to play Cat & Mouse with. Grab a bush and depending on difficulty aim a triple shot of the precision bow at it's disc launchers. I mean seriously they are so big not hitting it with a focus shot is almost impossible. Make sure this bush is far away though and strategize another bush to sneak to after the shot. Because the Sucker will come and check it out. Shoot either the other one off in the same manner after it grows tired of searching or grab the disc launcher once it is far enough away from it. Get as close you can and unload the launcher on it. Easy Peasy. And i did this on Story mode as well as Ultra Hard.
    Fireclaw & Other DLC Enemies=I mostly used the strategy for the Thunderclaw on them. Unless you play it on Story mode you seriously don't want those things to see you on Ultra Hard. Aloy's power lies in her Bows and tools. Not her Spear. Keep hidden,Scan them and fire their weaknesses on the right glowing parts. They are big and mostly stupid. You are small but cunning. Use it against them.
