Check Thompson drag raceway, in Thompson Ohio I bet somebody from that would know where that car came from. I noticed there was Ashtabula Ohio on the side of the body
Yes sir, I've been snooping around a little on Facebook already. I'm glad they didn't peel those stickers off, because that's a good clue of where to start looking.
@@HotRodHoarder This should get you started...Crower was the guy who got the whole slipper disc started I believe and went on from there...ruclips.net/video/GxonVnSutDg/видео.htmlsi=wGFg5Rt6DffMiBoe
I'm already deep into the research process. Finding a few clues, but hoping to nail down some details. I'll be sure to share my findings in a future video.
Looks like they were doing some sand racing with the diggers in the back. Or that maybe just the only tires they could find to roll it around on. Very cool car! Congratulations on your new acquisition Tommy! 😎🏁🏁🏁
Newbern is a good man and we'll do those other cars some justice. I'm sure you guys will get this one running sooner rather than later. Pretty awesome stuff. Thanks for posting.
Yes sir, I've enjoyed hanging out with Newbern. I hope he has fun with the two cars...I know I've already enjoyed having the Opel around as a conversation piece.
The algorithm hasn't been too nice to my channel lately. I've been posting plenty but not many people have been seeing it. Oh well...maybe it'll get straightened back out. Thank you for your support!
Hell yeah ..um number 1...🎉🎉🎉dude Ur channel rocks ...I'd like to see you in action tho on Ur cars...some start ups ...rips....burnouts.... that will cool to see....
Beautiful car! I've been thinking about hunting one of these down to drop an old school sbc into. Looking forward to seeing what ya'll end up doing with it.
I really hope to see you make some passes in this Opel when yall get a motor in there. Even if its just exhibition runs a few times. I feel like that car deserves to be documented making some runs, be it asphalt or sand. No matter what, the car is in good hands and thats important.
Newbern ripped on this thing HARD on the dirt drag strip, but I'd love to see it in action again on a regular drag strip. Our first step will be mounting some slicks to the old Super Trick wheels that came with it, so we can get the paddle tires off of there.
If you want to see this car running it's on a episode of Faster With Finnegan from 2 years ago on Motor trend s channel .as soon as I knew where it came from I knew he had put his hands on the car he can't help himself anyone who watches Finnegan knows he can't not get involved when it's about a weird car or any car . I can't wait to see what you guys do with this little nugget I know it's going to be good
@@HotRodHoarderSorry man, I remember the Opel GT being on the dirt track with those huge paddle tires going against that fully built dirt track truck.
I had a opel gt my cousin started to build a hill climb car fot chimney rock annual event long gone Jad it 80% complete took it to chimney rock just fot drivers to give their opinion. john Finger king of thr the mountain couldn't believe a couple of teens built it. They are definitely like a baby Corvette. I absolutely love the body lines, and the exaggerated rear wheel openings make it even better. I can't wait to get some giant slicks on the back.
The paint on this thing would clean up nice, but there are a few cracked areas. I'll probably investigate those areas first for potential paint colors underneath.
The Frank Mazi car was rebuilt . He ended up not using the god of Hellfire name. He put he and his wifes name. It is now in the god of hellfire name again. Nice trade
Yes, they're made for UTV's. David Newbern, Mike Finnegan and Mike Cotten did some unconventional drag racing with this thing on the show "Faster with Finnegan".
I have a question for you if you don't mind... if you do mind, just don't answer it. I get that many of these are one-of-a-kind or really rare. I'm just curious as to why you don't block them up out of the dirt?
The row of dragsters outside are so rusted that we don't make a huge effort to preserve them. We do typically try to get them up on four tires and wheels, so the metal isn't literally laying on the ground.
I'm digging around to see about the chassis. It definitely looks like a pro built piece, especially with all the chrome suspension stuff. The front coilover mounting arrangement definitely looks like a Logghe design.
Did you ever see it race? I'm seeing a decal from Ohio...wasn't sure if you had seen the car before Finnegan and Newbern turned it into a dirt drag car.
What’s up with that H1 hummer? Do a video on that. I’m seriously considering buying them from military auctions, civilianizing them, and selling them. I’d love to hear an honest opinion on how shitty they really are
I'll do a walk around video on it soon. My dad and his buddy Denny George bought a pair of Hummers a few months ago. They're beat all to pieces but there's a story behind it.
Take off them stupid paddle tires and put some nice big slicks back on it. I guess it is most famous with those paddles on it but the thing was never built to dirt race.
That's the first step. It came with the old Super Trick wheels, so we plan to mount some giant slicks on there and get this thing looking proper again.
It last raced on dirt, but was previously a conventional drag car. We'll be mounting up some slicks on the original Super Trick wheels soon to get it back to looking like a drag car.
Man that Opel is sweeeet!! Love watching all the old sand drag videos from the '80s here on youtube.

From south Africa...I wish we had cars like this out and about often like USA ....so I really like watching these cars in action...
WOW!! It even has Crowerglide!!...Awesome find my friend...This is going to be some awesome content....-John
School me on the crowerglide. Is that a clutch type setup? I wouldn't know how to tell if this car had one.

Very interesting ! Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching!
It will be cool to jear what your findings are on the flopper body Opal. Put something in it and go sand racing! Ready to go out back, already 💪
I'll be sure to get a video together as soon as I find something out. I love having a new research project.
Nice trade ! ...looking forward to the history dig on this one 👌

Newbern and Cotton put the paddles on the back. It was repurposed into a dirt drag car on an episode of Faster on Motortrend a while back.
Thanks @glb5053 for the reply. We'll probably put some slicks on the original Super Trick wheels and put those back on it.
@HotRodHoarder No problem! I've always loved the Opal GT in any form other than stock. lol Such cool looking little cars.
Thanks!
Awesome to see you and Dave in videos together. Hope to see more in the future.
We definitely have similar tastes...I'm sure we won't be strangers.
Nice swap mate. Can't wait to here about the history. You could easily get that on track too. Thanks champion. 👍🇦🇺
Thank you sir!
I think you got the better half of that deal. Nice find, looking forward to the archive of its history.

They run sand drag cars in Newtown Virginia it's 300ft
This thing was probably a lot of fun when Newbern raced it on dirt. He said the blower combo in this thing made over 700 horsepower to the wheels.
Wayyyyy cool

Search around Norwalk and Dragway 42 in Ohio. It looks familiar from late 80s early 90s
Will do! I saw the Ohio decal so that gave me a clue of where to start looking. I'll dig around and see what I can find. Thanks!
That hummer for sale?
It is not.

I know that's right.
I would have kept the T-bucket dragster.
