Out of all the LA bands, Ratt is far too underrated. They should be out touring on the Motley Crue, Def Leppard Stadium Tour. Yeah I've been saying this since I was a kid in my opinion Robin is a better guitarist just for the fact that he has more soul. RIP Robin the king Crosby

I think Detonator is underrated. Yeah, it's more commercial than previous efforts, and Desmond Child's fingerprints are all over it, but honestly I think the songs are solid. "Shame Shame Shame" was a killer opening to the album, and a good choice for a single, to show they hadn't lost their edge.

First time I heard Ratt as a teenager around 18yrs, over 20 something years ago the music blew me away and it still does, it really cemented my love for heavy metal which I'm still very passionate about, those riffy guitar melodies and kick ass vocals, and with songs you could sing along to. Even though I've gotten into much heavier bands since then I still listen to Ratt, their music is timeless.

Ratt is one of those bands where going through the entire history is warranted. For reasons I don't quite understand, normies only seem to listen to the two first records, but their entire output with Robbin as well as the Infestation record is well worth owning for any classic hard rock or heavy metal fan.
@Lungho To me there are two modifiers to this. I don't think that the metal aspect of Ratt ever receded entirely, but rather that it was complemented by a bluesier approach over time. Way Cool Jr. wouldn't have worked on one of the first two albums, but it works like a charm on Reach for the Sky. As far as Detonator goes, it is very different from the other ones, and I can see people not liking that style, but for what it is I think it is a great album, and it might actually be the one I reach for the most these days. Warren's tone on the album, I can say without doubt, is one of my all-time favourites, equalled in that era only by George Lynch on Wicked Sensation.

HolyDiver73 Dokken is underrated?? Icon, Keel or Helix were/are Underrated. Dokken have always been. One of the most often remembered & played bands of all the 80s hard Rock/Metal years.
Great video. Ratt was always a bit different in sound and vibe than all their hirsute contemporaries. To me its mostly due to Stephen's voice. Literally no one has ever sounded like him. Even now his voice is in ( relatively I say lol ) good shape. His other band Arcade had a couple strong lps too. He also sang on an industrial record by a band called Vertex which although very different than Ratt still to me at least still works. Keep these retrospectives coming. Really dig the humor and content.
@@uggadugga8070 Dokken and Tate's voices are toast. One will admit it,Don. And the other wont,Geoff. Still think Stephen's voice holds up better now. He still has "it" so to speak.
Ratt and Dokken are easily the best bands from the 80's. Both bands music has aged very well. I love all of Ratt's albums, but the first two Out Of The Cellar and Invasion Of Your Privacy are MASTERPIECES to me.
Ratt stands toe to toe with all of the 80s hair metal bands .. They’re first 4 albums went platinum when buying albums actually meant something and they ALWAYS had the hottest chicks in they’re videos !
Very good song, I love the video too, so many great songs though from them, I can only pick out a few "slower" songs that I might not like, but they are very very few
That is so cool that you found their contribution to METAL MASSACRE on Metal Blade Records because I knew they had done that but I never heard it - sounds like a totally raw young band. "Out of the Cellar" is the all time best glam metal / pop metal album. Final thoughts: "Dance" should have been a massive radio hit. I don't know why corporate radio did not embrace that song. What a killer hook!
They still are my all time favorite band. The moment I met Warren De Martini, doodling away at a guitar shop in San Diego in June 1984 (I was 16) when Round and Round was cruising up the Top 40 charts, I bought my first guitar right then and there; a red Flying V. I played in 4 bands after that and still play today. They were the best of the 80s and saw them live 9 times between 1984-1990.
Younger fans will never understand how HUGE Ratt was during their prime.

Ah yes;Live to rock - rock to live, it’s all you’ve got, when you’re down on the skin, yeah...
Oh yeah dokken is another level of dock so different yet the same!!!!
Well skip shadowlife whatever tf that was, but George Lynch learned nothin’ (for he went and reformed Lynch Mob with a bunch of nobodys then released that god awful Nu-metal style album which I’m surprised didn’t kill the band, but then Oni yo-yo’d for years before leaving for good a couple of years ago....
@@dragonqueen6589 well said, on all counts.
HolyDiver73 Dokken is underrated?? Icon, Keel or Helix were/are Underrated. Dokken have always been. One of the most often
remembered & played bands of all the 80s hard Rock/Metal years.
Thank you for this!! Im 16 i love this era of hard rock
Love you ❤️ for loving Ratt . OMG great comment about Ratt and Stephen pearcy
I think is voice kinda sucks. One of my favorite 80's singers was Don Dokken. But even he doesn't compare to Geoff Tate of Queensryche...
@@uggadugga8070 Dokken and Tate's voices are toast. One will admit it,Don. And the other wont,Geoff. Still think Stephen's voice holds up better now. He still has "it" so to speak.
The commentary on the music videos is absolutely the best part. I loved Tawny in Back For More! 💃 🎸 🔥
Ratt and Dokken are easily the best bands from the 80's. Both bands music has aged very well. I love all of Ratt's albums, but the first two Out Of The Cellar and Invasion Of Your Privacy are MASTERPIECES to me.
Dancing Undercover Was Also A Killer Album!
Agree
Cinderella are top of the heap of 80s glam bands followed closely by warrant. 😊
@@XBLxMaverickX and don't forget about reach for the sky.... NOT😂
Definitely my favorite as well!
Please more bands!!!. Your channel kicks ass truly
Excellent. Love every minute of this video.
Hahaha😂😂😂 OMG dude your narration is so funny… I was crying laughing the whole time… I love RATT
Ratt stands toe to toe with all of the 80s hair metal bands .. They’re first 4 albums went platinum when buying albums actually meant something and they ALWAYS had the hottest chicks in they’re videos !
Ratt is one of my favorite bands of all time!
I can't believe it!!!! Awesome . Thanks!!
Saw them open for Billy Squier in 1984 and I was hooked for life.
You need more subs ! Good job man, pretty cool video !
one of my all time favorite bands. Man do these guys know how to rock!!!
I love Ratt!!! Youre in love is one of the best songs ever!!!
Very good song, I love the video too, so many great songs though from them, I can only pick out a few "slower" songs that I might not like, but they are very very few
Struck by lightning ⚡
@@angelripper_420 you’re in love!!
My mom told me she had NEVER heard of Ratt. I was so SHOCKED. They are legendary
Either she didn't like or wasn't a fan of rock/metal music OR "Ratt were BEFORE her time."
Ratt and Roll forever!! One of the best bands that came out of the 80's
Great doc. Excellent band. RIP RC.
I love your dry commentary on the music videos.
Another great video. I would love to see the directors cut. So many worthy acts, I am anxiously awaiting the next installment.
I met them at a hotel in Poughkeepsie, NY back in 1984. They were so thrilled that I knew who they were.
Wonderful sarcasm throughout sir!!
