I shorten a lot of these boxes, this is a great video it covers a lot of things that are more metalworking knowledge that’s lacking in all of the other videos that are out there.
I was planning on buying repop bedsides to shorten my 70 but this is the kind of content that gives a home gamer the confidence to tackle shortening the OE bedsides, thanks!
JF having spent a career as a Technical Trainer I feel comfortable commenting you do a great job of demonstrating and explaining the task. David already knows I'm sure but he is apprenticing at the right shop! Thanks for sharing .... 👍
Long gone are the days of the $500.00 pickups. They used to be found everywhere, but as you've experienced, they are not easily found anymore, especially in decent shape. I bought my 1968 C10 longbed on Sept 20, 2003, for $500.00. I drove it home. It has the 327 large journal crank, TH400, and HD rear leaf springs. For nearly five years, it was my daily driver until I had wanted something with A/C, power steering, and cruise control. I've had several offers on my truck, some very good offers too, but I've turned down every offer.
I sure miss rust valley. Was super cool to see them in your opening. But I love the fact you spoke so much on death wheel safety, then finished the video welding without a helmet.. haha love it!🤣
Allright! Nice, clear and straightforward. I learned some things in a new way, thanks. One thing on the blades fracturing- If you put the piece on a solid set of sawhorses and really stabilize it and support the offcut it minimizes any wobble of the piece you are cutting. Without doing that as soon as something moves the blade pinches and binds. Those body shop stands are not very stable.
OMG a buyer who actually shared what he paid? Rust free ya stole it, expensive hours repairing the body and frame eats a budget alive. LOL, ask our boys at Rust Valley about dealing with rust!! The C10 is such a desirable platform for modifying and customizing, love where you are headed!
That's one thing we actually want to share is the price - my pet peeve is watching a car clip , them buying something that has my interest and not telling us what they bought it for !! keepin' it real
@@killerkustoms you're more then welcome, plan on following along as the channel grows. The build you did on RVR of the truck for your brother I think it was (?) really showed what you and your shop can produce! Loved it, hope he still has that beauty! Tucked away safe for winter I'm guessing?
Great video I love your work. I became a fan after seeing you on rust bros. you really break it down for us home garage guys please keep these types of videos going
Cool Stuff and nice explanation on the proper rotation of the cutting blade...!!! QUESTION>>>>>????!!!! Would you cut the same place in a 1990 OBS Chevy Truck??? ( asking for a friend... :) Keep up the good stuff. :)
Haven't studied that truck , but yes it will be similar - there are a lot of those boxes still around , so don't think you would have to go to that trouble . Thanks for the comments and subscribing ! more to come.
I live in Manitoba , as far as I know you can't alter the frame in Canada ? I want to bag my truck and notch rear frame. I also subbed👍I'M 396 LIKED VIDEO. BB Chevy 396

Awesome! Thank you!
Great content I can see myself learning a bunch of tricks and techniques. I just need to get brave enough to put what I learn into practice. Thanks
You can do it!
Awesome new channel! New subscriber for sure . Done a few of these trucks, always enjoy learning new stuff. Cheers from peachland!
Thanks for the sub!
My first truck was a 67 C10 short box. I fortunatley never had to shorten the box!
Very good job,I have a truck like yours, want to make it short, can you share the angles measures if you did that to make the cuts on rear?😊
There was no angle measures , we just kept them the same distance apart as the straight cuts

When cutting 12" off the front of the bed floor, did you make the very front flat like the factory?
We the 12” ,2 inches into the truck bed to keep it looking original
Hey ,nice Video you do amazing work ,but where your welding hood ? Your going to mess, your eyes up

Looks good but you lost your side marker light.
Dam that’s the longest intro I’ve ever seen. Definitely will be scrolling forward on future vids.
That was one of our older videos , intros are 10 sec on our new ones
Having done this task before, I feel humbled😀
Think harder, work less.
