First look at the CJ Simulations Eurofighter Typhoon in Microsoft Flight Simulator

- After buying the Typhoon primarily to make sure other aircraft appeared appropriately while flying other aircraft, I have been pleasantly surprised at just how good it actually is - and recorded this "first look". Yes, it's not study level, but it's great fun - and I think some of the community forget that sometimes. A huge thumbs up from me, and will be returning to it in the coming days and weeks.
Apologies for referring to the developer as SC Designs during the video - this aircraft was developed by CJ Simulations ("CodenameJack" - the brother of SC Designs Scott Crawford and DC Designs Dean Crawford). I bought the Eurofighter and F-16 at the same time and mixed them up :)

Worth noting (and holding my hands up) - I used to be somewhat aloof in comparing the military aircraft between MSFS and DCS in the past too. While talking to somebody recently, they reminded me that very few air force pilots ever fire a shot in anger - that most of their career is spent doing mock dogfights, or interdiction exercises. Anyway. Let's call this my redemption arc :)
"It's supposed to be fun. It's not supposed to be a job interview" well done for saying this 👏
That's the reason why I love watching your videos: you're not flying them like a lunatic. That's what people mean by 'professional' when they describe your channel.
yeah that landing sure was "professional"
100% with you - sometimes I want to fly a light A/C as close as possible to reality. Sometimes I just want some fun in a fast jet - that's where this (and DC SC etc) come in.
I fly the CJ Typhoon all the time and love it. It’s got a pretty decent autopilot too.
About the battery, a normal start would be whilst attached to a GPU, so you don’t drain the battery. Nice video. Some of the cockpit is not quite right right but it’s close enough for fun. Also, I noticed on the fuel page that although you had a full load, the fwd wing tanks had no fuel - not sure why that was.
Never mind the Typhoons... kudos for the scenery guys including the English Electric Lightning!
Did not know about the zip file for weapons..
Thanks fella 👍
Happy to see this video! I love the CJ Typhoon. I prefer flying study level’s etc, but this doesn’t need to be!
What a beautiful looking aircraft. Is it the best version of the typhoon? The airfield looks fantastic also. Slainte ❤️
Hi Jonathan, Great Video Wow what a great aircraft I didn't think i would buy it as I thought it would be so hard to set up and fly. But its not. Thank you again Hopefully next video will be Nav and radios.
Nice video💯‼️. The Eurofighter is my default choice.....100%.....only fly this jet in the sim. In my opinion a masterpiece.
Cheers
Markus
I seen one of these at low level while climbing haystacks in the lake district, the noise was something else, we absolutely 💩 ourselves 🤣
Great vid, MSFS scenery looks fantastic. I am sure it is as faithful a recreation as can be done, but the cockpit looks like a “mod” to me. The exterior model looks fantastic.
This is a very good model a very nice video too. lovely detail once m,y upgrade pc is up and running i`ll be getting this. Once again a very good video.
I highly doubt it. The flight model is generally absent as a concept in this module. This addon can fly endlessly even with thrusters on Idle.
You should close your canopy before starting your engine. It's a sign for ground personel that you will start your engine and they can start to take distance with your aircraft
Hi Jonathan, Yet again a great video and content, I went and brought it, Same question will you be doing a video on how to set up Radios as I would like to fly online and how to import or do flight plans. Fantastic work and thank you so much.
I'll be returning to it soon :)
Nice
Love flying the Typhoon, had it for a while now and a great little review, could you please explain a little more about how to add the weapons from the Marketplace purchased version. Many thanks
The weapons are only available if you have the PC version. Within the aircraft installation directory there is a subfolder with the weapons in - unzip them, put them in the community folder, and start the simulator.
@@jonbeckett Thanks, I originally purchased on Xbox through MP but I now play on PC, I'll try and locate the files on my drive
CJ simulations*
Good catch - I bought the F-16 at the same time, and mixed them up :)
I liked the review cheers.....I do like to see other people flying in videos though, seems like the price of fame means you should put up with a bit of formation flying ....but yeah, not all the time and not with idiots. Happy flying to you
I fly this for more than a half year in MSFS with friends. There is a problem with the simulation of the Fly By Wire still, that almost never let's you fly steady at the horizont. The Autotrim Gauge is not fast enough especcially after some hard maneuvering. It also switches off when the Gear comes down, and then you have to trim by hand. An awkward situation is also after takeoff when the system kicks in. Normally it starts to pitch up, so you need to add enough power to get through it without losing speed rapidly. Going over 25 degree when climbing starts your nose to pitch up when you don't work against it. All this makes this thing still unenjoyable for me. The CJ Rafale is much better in these regards. Anyways out of pride and because I love raw power, I tend to fly it a lot. Hunting Swiss Hornets till they ramm the Swiss Alps is something I could do day in and day out. They are patching it nearly every month so they aren't finished with it. I hope Heatblur finishes their Eurofighter for DCS World soon, but until that I cannot find a better Simulation of the Typhoon than CJ Simulations. I had hoped Dino Cattaneo makes a Eurofighter for MSFS, I had the FSX Version. Because his Tornado, F-35 and F-14 are amazing and almost flawless. But he has decades of Flight Sim Background and knows a lot of former and active Duty Pilots from Italy and other Countries who help to test his stuff. CJ's Typhoon is far from perfect, but they at least try their best and I love supporting that.
Great video as always, thanks! Looks like you have a keybind to show/hide multiplayer nameplates? How do I do this
Search the keyboard mapping for "labels"
The stick has to be slightly turned left for the right palm accomodation
This jet flys the best on my xbox s. 👍
If you like this, I think you'll really like the Flying Iron aircraft. They are fantastic fun and can be quite a challenge.
Friend, very good video, could you help me by sharing your sensitivity of the joystick and the power lever, since I have the same one but I don't configure it well, I would appreciate it.
I leave everything on straight lines (remove any curves in the sensitivities)
Military air base, please?

@@jonbeckettthanks, it looks great.
Friendly framerate?
Hi Jonathan,
Really struggling with adding the missiles? Could you elaborate more on how to get or where that zip file is? Cannot see it in the Community folder for the life of me? Maybe or short video explaining how to would be great. Thanks!
It's inside the aircraft folder. I bought it from the marketplace, so it's in the packages/onestore folder (inside the documents subfolder)
SC Designs-F16, CJ Simulations Eurofighter Typhoon.
Good catch - I bought the F-16 at the same time, and mixed them up :)
@@jonbeckett No worries. It happens to me as well them being 3 different companies for all these planes.
Great video, thank you Jon. Do you have the link for the airport scenery? Thanks!
flightsim.to/file/10045/egxc-raf-coningsby
Thank you. I love this plane too and learned a few more things thanks to your video.
Don’t know about real world but the F35 is bigger fun than the Typhoon as is works really well with the STVOL features. Add to that the Queen Elizabeth carrier pack for some STOVL action.👍😜
Sorry wrong thread 🤪
@@jonbeckett That is showing as unavailable now :(
Hey Sir. So do you fly or have you been in the military? I was in the U.S Marines. So I am very familiar with these kind of aircraft. But not really foreign aircraft. I like your video on this aircraft.
Not a pilot, not in the military :)
@@jonbeckett Oh ok. Well thanks for the video. It was still cool
Seems a reasonable effort, flight model, not so sure, approaches were very amateur, especially 21:36 Sarajevo dive approach. FPV and E bracket seem to be in a world of their on on approach, you fly with the E bracket and forget the airspeed, same as many modern aircraft, all flown AoA on approach with the benefit of the E bracket, makes every approach straight forward as long as it’s stabilised.
can you turn off the mirrors to help with framerate?
Not tried yet
Rar file containing weapons Corrupted. Any chance of finding them online, somewhere?
Use 7 zip to extract it. Or re-download the aircraft.
@@jonbeckett Thank you. My Typhoon has Teeth, now.
Where can we get it
With reference to cresting a ridge upside down. Buccaneer crews use to do this whilst on Operation Red Flag at Nellis AFB. Interview with one of the crew confirming this. ruclips.net/video/2EwIwE7cjds/видео.htmlsi=3xpiTkJTIaps7HB6
That's interesting - I've seen a couple of videos of other pilots saying the opposite. Thanks for sharing.
I think the sim will simulate the weight but not the drag of the stores.
that is correct. flight models are based on clean configuration, weapons and stores do not change drag
Drag is added to the CJ model when stores are added
@@batterby7675 drag, or weight? because the aircraft has the same top speed in sim regardless of stores
@vlxxrd4866 not for me it doesn't. Latest update yet again corrected the CFD. You must have either an old version or using legacy flight mode
@vlxxrd4866 but of course if you have more reliable data than the serving Typhoon pilot consulting on the project please contact us and prove a 3000hr pilot wrong
Ive got DCS, the sim is far to complicated, all I can do is start up and take off ,such a shame it isn't simpler grat in VR, but cant play it.😢
DCS is a proper simulator though :) You would expect it to be complicated.
this is great, the flight model is just a bit weird like with their rest of their products. tons of fun, though
F35 is my favorite 🫡
There's another aircraft I've not looked at yet.
Bit late for this review?
New for me :)
@@jonbeckett Ah haha, you had me going for a lil while i thought we had a new Typhoon coming 🤣
Only reason people say stuff like that when it comes to Military aircraft, is DCS has fully dynamic campaign's where you have to fly in an appropriate way etc. Adn the jet, which is a multi-role fighter can't actually be used in MSFS sadly, I wish it was like back in the day with Microsoft Combat Flight simulator, it would be awesome. That's the only reason I dont purchase MSFS. At some point the Eurofighter will be released for DCS too, it's in the works but god knows how long that will take.
I do take issue with the type of comment that you mentioned that someone said to you when you was flying around in the tomahawk what’s the point? It’s a game/simulator it’s having fun re-creating what you want in your own world it serves no different content to the gameplay And all use simulator above just turned in your grave when I said game it’s exactly the same when flying around in example a typhoon and flying in a way which the aircraft would be flown different from an airbus A380 or Boeing it’s the same you’re having fun in an aircraft that you’ve chosen out of a menu Flying in a simulated world, but here’s another bombshell for all the gatekeepers. It’s not real you know it’s a game I know I’m in trouble I said game again I know simulator have fun makes no difference where in a 747 or a Hawk trainer and I think when you get some people in the comments that think they have the right to insinuate you shouldn’t be doing that and it’s only airliners only I think they’re missing the point
You do not start the engines through switches. After the APU you just need to set both throttles to idle. It’s not realistic
whats the point of having a fighter jet in msfs just to fly around .lol
Perhaps because most military pilots never fire a shot in anger during their entire career ?
I don't really bother with anything in MSFS that isn't a fast jet, other than helicopters & the odd WW2 plane.
Spoilers are designed to reduce lift and generally are found on the wing. Airbrakes are for creating drag which reduce speed. The Typhoon has a large airbrake and has no spoilers. Your video is very good otherwise but please use the correct terms for the aircraft.
2 Second Google gives me loads of real Typhoon cockpit pictures ... No excuse for not modelling the basic panels properly .... I'm not a FS Plane snob if it's fun I'm in but I want it to look as it should .... Why just not have a popout with these options ?
Possibly unfair to tar one brother with the negatives of another but the apparent ‘abandonware’ nature of DC Designs’ Concorde (which nowadays just doesn’t work) has put me off anything from these three.
I will admit - I bought with F-16 on a bit of a whim, and thought "why not do a video with it" - but then loaded it into the sim, and thought "there's no way I can share this".
Have you seen the landing gear shock absorbers? Especially the nose? It's a joke. It's as if it didn't even exist. Another thing, observe in 3rd person what happens to the rear landing gear right after touching the ground. It's as if it were already on the ground but visually it continues to float. Total joke.
YOU left out, where can I get the scenery, YOU used, Thanks?
contrail.shop/products/egxc-coningsby-air-base-msfs
I fly the CJ Typhoon a lot. It's a really fun plane to fly in MSFS.
