you pop the top of the keyboard off in the back and lift towards you without putting stress on the ribbon cables and it is far easier so disconnect then the way shown.
Do you know if the gx501gi (gtx 1080 i7-8 series) motherboard is swappable with the gx501vik (1070) motherboard and parts? Hello, mine has the common issues after the 309 bios update which lead to the keyboard and rgb not working and being stuck in ECO mode. Did you figure out a solution yet?Is it fixable at all? I dont know what to do I'm desperate please help
Hey everyone. I recently have managed to spill beer over my keyboard and thus having to replace the whole topcover with preinstalled keyboard with an original spare part. All the keys, the touchpad and the backlight are working well. Nonetheless I have some issues, in which you may be able to help me. One issue is, that the hotkey layout is different from my original one. I guess ASUS changed it for later production batches. Now of course I have the old keymapping, with symbols of the never batch keyboards, and i was wondering if there is any way to driver or softwarewise change that. Deinstalling from Device Manager didn't work, nor the manual download of drivers. As a last resort, of course I could just change the keycaps and use the old ones. Another issue is, that despite the keys and the touchpad working properly, I can't switch to that virtual NumPad anymore. I reckon it's a software related issue aswell. Same here with device manager / manual install didn't help. Well, I know it's kinda rare stuff i've gotten into here. But maybe someone has had similar issues and has an idea as to what I could try.
Hey man! I think i broke the lcd cable on my asus gu502gv :( :( since its a new model, turns out the cable is 99$ ! RIP MY LIFE hahah nooooo. an off brand new screen is only 70 . Well even though the model is different, I think this video is what I needed to see for how to replace it when it gets here. Wish me luck! and if you do randomly get the chance to, please make a vid breaking down the gu502gv ! bless!
Hey guys. I replaced the inflated battery in my GX501VI today. I only disconnected the small, white ribbon and the one in the middle and had someone hold the case, whilst still connected to the broad, brown one. Two screws were impossible to unscrew, so I cut the plastic around it and then screwed them out with a plier. After I reassembled the notebook, the keyboard works fine, but the RGB background doesnt work anymore. The litte white light indicating Caps lock works fine, though. Have I damaged something or is it rather a software problem? What hardware component is responsible for the keyboard lighting? Maybe i have to open it up again and have a look. Any ideas?

Actually its hard to tell, if it has tiny screw you can but if those are rivets then basically no. We no longer have this palmrest so im going by the video.
No sorry, it's integrated into the motherboard. If reinstalling drivers doesn't fix the issue, you may need another motherboard. Another option is using a USB adapter sound card for now until you get another computer.
On this particular laptop it was all thermal paste. Not sure if it came factory like that or if this heatsink had been removed before. You can always get 1mm and stack them if needed, or use all paste.
My speakers sound like shit, and now recently my keyboard stopped working..... This laptop is a big yikes. any idea if theres a way to fix they keyboard?
If those tiny black spots are screws then you can replace it... if they are plastic rivets you might need to replace the whole assembly. Check the ribbon first, its the large black ribbon.
the best solution is to find pc service shop where they can program EEPROM=bios, in modern laptops you need professional tools to restart bios manually, otherwise, You can lose the warranty
this laptop has a known battery issue , it gets swollen and it dies , i have one and the battery is swollen and I’ve checked it online and lots of people have the same problem .
@@Sellbrokedotcom hello sir, ,if i remove the battery like the tutorial you shown above, and then i setup the rest back. Can i play without the battery?
Looks like you can maybe replace it once the bottom case is off. The speakers are wired as a pair, so unless you want to do splicing you need to replace the pair. The are usually attached with only rubber grommets or a phillips screw.

When considering a gaming laptop, the last thing you should be worried about is battery. You just need it to be portable enough for traveling or minor updates via outside wifi and stuff. Most of the time it should be plugged in. at 2.2kgs, it beats all current gaming laptop specially on cooling design
Australian here (warm-ish weather) with the i7 7700 / 24GB / GTX 1070 version. -150v undervolt on CPU, and overclocked GPU (+200 core, +100 memory) and the GPU tops at 71C, CPU at 85C. It's honestly impressive how well this laptop cools itself.
I think it's time for me to replace my battery. It just drain super fast like in 20sec even after it saying it's full.
Moe7133 it died cause you hold it wired all the time probably. Use eco mode when it charges until 40% to prevent that in future

Sorry. Are there thermal pads on the power and memory circuits? Or thermal past?
In this case there was only thermal paste on the GPU and CPU sections of the heatsink, and some for the small chips directly next to them.

Pause at 2:55, the keyboard backlight is the gold ribbon. I would make sure it is connected and inserted straight.
The black ribbon is actually the keyboard ribbon. But what about the brown/bronze one ? My bronze ribbon got accidentally split in half :/
The only thing I think it could be is the multi-color keyboard back light.
