    Knight model decided to add the card in a printable version that the community made. a lot easier to play that way than using the app.

    Very nice video. They should include basic stats in the box so you can play the game. Hopefully they do a PDF so people can print it.

    I don't mind the app in general but I'd want the base stats printed SOMEWHERE in the starter set so you could at least play the box without it.

    Haha- nice CRKT plug! I bought my first of their M16 pocketknives all the way back in 2005 when I moved to Los Angeles. Since moving back to CT, I’ve had several of them, but with different options (sizes, blade shapes, etc). The one that I eventually settled on is the large Special Forces version with the half-serrated Tanto blade. It’s a workhorse and has been super reliable. Anyway- thanks for reviewing this kit, and enjoy your weekend!

    Requiring the app to play is a definite deal breaker. And no terrain? I trust the game is dirt cheap (as if!). I remember playing a WFB game back in the day against an opponent whose Army book was on his phone. We spent almost as much time searching for info on his phone as actually playing the game. I can see spending half the game time searching thru trying to find your stat cards. Not when you can have a set of cards, or even a printout sitting on the tasble.

    Let's see if they can actually produce the minis this time around. Years of "out of stock" is no way to support a game.
    Cheers for the coverage Ash.

      @@joemountains1539 I am confused by this tbh, is it an issue with getting them to the US? Have zero issues here in Europe. I have models no longer made from second edition that have updated rules via the app, third party sellers sell even older models.

      @yagsipcc287 2 года назад +1

      @@joemountains1539 Ah ok yeah I think it is all done in Spain besides card stock as far as I know. Usually if stuff is not in stock it is on some third party site as well as been cheaper. Also this set just came out and had 3 weeks or so of pre orders. It isnt a big company really with tons of man power. But then again it also might just be harder to get the stuff to the US and other places. The same stuff happens here in Europe that is easy to get in the US. Hopefully it will get better. They seemed to of had zero issues getting things done or shipped for the last two years at least over here. (Im in Ireland myself)

  • @Jarkeld
    @Jarkeld 2 года назад +6

    Yeah; I follow another channel that plays this as well, and 3rd edition has all the stat cards on the App only. The game is easier to score now, with objective decks, but it's annoying that you need to have the app for the stat cards.

    Oof -- I was interested in this one but required app use is a deal breaker for me. I play tabletop games specifically to disconnect from a screen. Anyway, I'm glad I watched this first; thanks Ash.

    • @anab0lic
      @anab0lic 2 года назад +4

      Likewise, any table top game that FORCES app use is a hard pass for me, companies need to realize that one of the greatest strengths of this hobby is its detachment from the modern day over integration of digital/screen use in peoples lifes... and play to that strength. I will happily pay extra for the stat cards (and any errata's/balance changes) to keep the hobby 'pure.' At the very least provide pdfs for people to self print.

    • @anab0lic
      @anab0lic 2 года назад +3

      @@actualwafflesenjoyer They arnt even superior most of the time in terms of function, having to navigate through touch screen menus instead of glancing at a card is just so god damn cumbersome. And what if your battery runs out on your phone... The only real advantage they have is in their ability for quick balance tweaks, but again id much rather go through the extra steps of acquiring or self printing a card than 'infect' my games with more screen time, we have too much of that in our life's as is... I feel like theres always that temptation of - ill just check my social media or youtube or whatever when such devices are present at the table too... a terrible distraction.

  • @worlds-in-conflict

    Taking a step back from the actual contents I'm surprised they used such a big box just to accomodate full sized counter sheets. Everything else in there looks like it would have fit in a box less than half that size.
    (Why the hell am I so obsessed with packaging all of a sudden?)

  • @yagsipcc287

    Mine came the other week, it looks great!! models are amazing as always!! I have only ever had one issue with their models got parts replaced within 2 weeks I have a massive box full of minis many still undone ha but still. The rules are great, app is super useful for everything and has updated rules and stats for old models. The set is great, a bit more than the standard third edition set but you get two full teams and dont need to get another model or two like you did with the other one (either Joker or Gordan)

    No terrain is an issue for me. More and more "Starter" boxes are toting minis but nothing to hide them behind or interact with. Tokens just dinnae cut it for me.

    • @anab0lic
      @anab0lic 2 года назад +2

      yeah, seems weird they didnt include any of their previously produced card stock terrain. That fairground set they had in a previous starter actually looked pretty good and would bulk out a table quickly to get the game up and running with terrain that thematically/aesthetically fits with the game.

    I HATE the app requirements for tabletop games. It also means that even though you might keep your game pristine, one day itll be unplayable due to an app no longer being supported. I have bosrd games nearly 50 years old so believe me, itll happen.

    I dislike that more and more companies are going the app route for either all the rules/stats or the bulk of it. This, Conquest, Infinity and I'm sure there are others too, in the short term I can see this helping smaller companies (as well as keeping it updated via FAQs built into the app) but that means if you don't have internet access or sadly, the company goes under, you CAN'T play these games anymore.

    Stat cards in app is a deal breaker for me. I always purchase a smartphone with the smallest screensize. Cause it's easier to carry around and use one-handed. Stat cards are always unreadable in an app on a small smartphone. And I game mostly in the evenings, at wich point my phone is probably at 20% bat.

      They are smaller but they have realistic proportions across all their models as they also have more comic book styled minis. most models are on 30-35 mm bases though some are 50mm plus more so "boss" types.
