Mark is setting a great example in many ways & can't wait to see the movie.
I had the privilege of seeing this movie twice, and each time I was moved to tears. Suffering reminds each of us we are fragile, and humility will only draw us closer to each other and to Him. In a time during which we are all experiencing great suffering, God is calling us to be closer to Him, for we can do nothing without His grace and love. Thank you, Fr. Stu, for showing us what it means to be grateful even during the most difficult times.

I was very touched by the movie and its message. I too am thankful there are l people like Mark Walberg and Mel Gibson who want to make faith based movies. I left that theater with tears in my eyes with my heart stirred for God.
The Jews cancelled Mel (Catholic) Gibson, they were so butthurt because for them, Mel Hummilated their Religion in the Movie, "The Passion of Christ"

In the cesspool that is Hollywood, glad we have people like Mel Gibson, Jim Caviezel, and Mark Wahlberg who can make redemptive films. God Bless them!
Can hardly wait to see the film. I always love conversion stories and am amazed by some of the stories of people who have been called to be a priest.
I just watched ‘Father Stu’…it’s SO unlike other Mark Wahlberg movies, it took me a minute to adjust my expectations! But I was deeply touched by the reality of the dialogue (a little rougher than I’m used to), the tragic dysfunction of his family and the physical changes of Mark… from a guy who’s in great shape to fight in ‘low level boxing matches’ to a man focused on following his new found Catholic faith, even after a devastating diagnosis (his weight gain, struggle to speak, and his emotional vulnerability) I was brought to tears several times with ‘the reality’ of it all!! Faith and religion are NOT popular topics in our current, so I doubt the movie will be greeted with much enthusiasm, but I think many will identify with his family, character, and redemption!
Saw this yesterday in ATL and LOVED IT. So inspiring, so moving, cried a few times. Thank you!! Good job Mark and crew.
So sorry about Mark's Mom. I saw a documentary on his family and I was impressed buy his morher..she held things tigether more than orhers think...
This movie has got to be Mark Wahlberg's best movie to date. He should be nominated for an Oscar.
I really do appreciate this powerful movie and characters. It got my thoughts going as to my own life, where I am now with my life, faith, happiness and where my journey is heading. No other movie has ever done this to me before other than just entertainment and enjoyment. Excellent movie.

I just watched this tonight. Rented it. What an incredible story of grit,and mercy, its a pure endurance for life, and human suffering of one self, with illness...is just such a good portrayal, of how if your meant to be a leader..you'd achieve that true lesson,in ways you never truly expect! .....this will capture your attention.

Nah, Mark wasn't left to die a life's reject. He was able to overcome and LIVE, unlike his character Father Stu. God doesn't need us to die, to sacrifice our love and our joy, to validate His existence. Mark's real life story is far better at showing us what redemption truly is ...the movie Father Stu does no justice

Wondered why have I never heard Mark sell a movie like this? Must be something really special? Then the cynical side of me thought he might be a Producer looking for a return on his investment; turned out to be correct. I still plan on seeing the film as I'm a huge fan & sure it's great. Also noteworthy; this was directed by Rosalind Ross in her directorial debut.
I hope he regrets his HATE CRIMES. Beating up old asian men and throwing rocks at black children is not the move.

The conversion of a sinner who has no love for God to become someone who offers his life to serve God is a rebellion to Jesus? That is a bold statement that is part of today's problem. As Christians (Protestant and Catholic) we are one body of Christ. I respect ALL Christians who live their lives as an example for Christ. One should not go around accusing others as you have. Maybe you should look at the beam in your own eye. We all fall short of the call to live as God wants us to no matter what we profess our faith to be.

That is what happens when you take a verse and isolate it. Taking it out of context leaves out the meaning of the whole passage Mark 23:1-36. In this passage of many verses, Jesus is denouncing the scribes and Pharisees for exaulting themselves. It is a long discourse about the way in which they live a life that does not set the example they hold everyone else to.
He says the same thing about calling someone Rabbi which means teacher - do you not call people your teacher? Doctor is also latin for teacher. Have you not called a professor Dr....
What do you call the male parent in your family? Do you not call him your father?

That is directly from the King James Bible. Does Jesus correct his mother when she refers to Joseph as his father?
What about the Commandment to Honor thy father and mother? Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
You can't pick and choose how you use that verse.
A priest is a spiritual father who helps the people of his parish to live the Christian life we are called to live.
Anyone who puts a priest above their love of God is making him an idol, but Catholics who know and profess their faith accurately, don't do that. You don't have to agree with having priests for your beliefs, but don't go accusing things that you can't speak truthfully about.
