    Should you buy a Honda ZR-V in Australia in 2023, and does Honda offer any value for your money when we honestly compare their cars and prices against the competition? 🤷‍♀️
    Honda ZR-V 2023 is a roomy family vehicle that I would not call a real SUV, but it's more of a slightly lifted ADVENTURE WAGON with no off-roading capabilities (at least not in the Honda ZR-V VTI-x model that I am reviewing).
    Is Honda ZR-V a good car and should you buy it for your family needs in 2023? Let's discuss and find out together!

    I think the top of the range non hybrid model is the go and represents pretty good value. I tested out the 12 speaker Bose system and was impressed. Boot is a bit small and shame there is no HUD.

    Hi there, I really appreciate your review. I just read from another source that the ZR-V doesn't come with an auto-lock function. Since you've been driving this car for a while now, does that mean you have to manually lock the doors every time?

      I've also only had a brief exposure to the car and one test drive. I don't own one and haven't tested it extensively, so unfortunately wouldn't be able to provide extra information on it, sorry.

    Given your familiarity with both the Honda ZR & MG HS, am I reading correctly you’d go with the Honda & spend a bit extra? I’m deciding between the two. Cheers

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  9 месяцев назад

      Hey I can hardly say I'm on the same familiarity level between the 2 vehicles. I wouldn't buy Honda in 2023, due to the whole bunch of reasons. But neither would I recommend an MG HS, it's just not the best SUV. Wait until the end of the week, I'll give my take on what budget brand to buy. If you have money for Japanese, consider whatever it is that Subaru is offering within your price range.

    So our Kuga was totalled and we were in the market for a replacement for No1 son. We seriously considered both MG and Omoda. If it were for me the Omoda would do the job as a runaround. However for peace of mind and long term reliability for the youngling I just couldn't go away from Japan. Honda is great, so is Toyota and we went with a Corolla.
    I drove the Corolla the 100km from the Melbourne dealer and whilst it doesn't have the electronic nick nacks of our Lexus UX, the ride and sound was so close that it makes the UX pretty poor value. Having said that you will need to pry the UX from my cold dead hands.
    Like I've said, once there is a Tank 500 V8, I'm in.

      I just found Toyotas "too plastic" and too hard to obtain in terms of delivery times. Not supporting a company like that. Honda - meh - wait for my HR-V review (which "in spirit" is going to be closer to what I think about Toyota in general).

    • @darroncrick9993
      @darroncrick9993 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@ValueCarsAU We never buy "brand new" so delivery is never a problem. We hired a Rav4 once and found it to be a plasticky hunk o junk but then got "stuck" with a Yaris which we loved!
      The plastickness is very model specific. Any Toyota with industrial heritage, ie 4WD, has a sparse interior. Pure passenger vehicles are far more refined but still more plastic than the current range of Chinese cars. Toyota is ultra conservative, the old Hiace was a rubbish vehicle but they last forever.
      The plushness of our Lexus is probably no better than current Chinese fare but the longevity is the question. My argument is that the Chinese are starting to overprice their vehicles compared to the opposition. They need to maintain a substantial discount to build a core following while they have the advantage of supply which seems to afflict everyone else. Once that floodgate opens they may be washed aside if they are not cheap enough.
      When collecting the Corolla from the Hyundai dealer the sales guy said some Hyundais have a 2 year waiting list........

    Hi, what would you recommend for $45000AUD or less? I like the ZRV but just want to know other options. I just want something reliable, good fuel consumption and if possible looks quiet and calm rather than looking like a racing car or transformer car of sorts...thanks heaps
    Edit: also I am not afer Chinese cars, which is just a personal preference.

      I find Corollas generally quite boring, but it'll certainly last you a long time and save you on petrol in that long time. Especially if you don't mind general "poverty" feel from driving a Toyota.

    Good review Dimitri, great to see you covering something different. Only two models for NZ, the turbo at $47k and the Sport HEV @ $55k, as with Haval the HEV has less boot space and no spare tyre, might be worth a look if I can find a dealer reasonably close, most of the regional dealers have been closed down with their new marketing philosophy.
    Being different countries we have standard pricing for all colours on both MG and Haval models, no extra charge for any colour. MG, Haval, Suzuki all have fixed pricing so there is no haggling over price or having to shop around for the best deal.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  11 месяцев назад

      That's great to know that you guys aren't ripped off for different colors - we are in AU - and Honda is among very few companies that have it all packaged into one price tag

  • @minlou4639
    @minlou4639 9 месяцев назад

    The pricing structure is fine if it’s only for the top of the line car or limited addition. But the base model no. Make a ton of them and sell them to dealers. I have the hrv but if they sold the zrv in the US I would trade in my HRV. The speakers and the seats in hrv not so fab.

      ZRV produces an impression of a slightly cheaper and smaller Toyota Kluger.

  • @haymont78
    @haymont78 11 месяцев назад +2

    Personally I think non negotiable pricing is fantastic. There's nothing worse than purchasing a car and wondering if you've got the best deal possible. There's nothing worse when you hear someone got the same thing for a few grand cheaper all because of the location or dealership.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  11 месяцев назад +2

      At the same time it completely kills the possibility of you actually spending time looking around and feeling rewarded for finding a car that's cheaper than an obnoxious dealer up the road wanted to charge you. There are upsides and downsides. 🤷‍♀️

    It's still a 1.5 turbo with possible oil dilution issues that the engine is famous for. I wouldn't touch this engine after my experience with my CRV and the 1.5 turbo.

    • @ValueCarsAU
      @ValueCarsAU  10 месяцев назад

      I don't know enough about that engine, but overall still wouldn't buy it for my own family needs. There are simply better cars on the market. The point I was making in this video is that if someone wants a Honda - for any reason - then this one is probably the best they can get "cheaply".

    • @worrywart1311
      @worrywart1311 7 месяцев назад +1

      For a company you say is "going under, it has managed over the past two years to introduce its first all-new car in 20 years (ZR-V), put out a much admired new model Civic, new model Accord, and new model CR-V, and revised HR-V. The ZR-V is price-competitive with similarly a equipped Mazda CX-30 or Kia Seltos. Many consider its hybrid system better than Toyotas. I'd say their is life in the old dog yet. They will learn and adjust their currently unpopular marketing strategy as required.
