Thanks for posting, I'd given up with the bottomless portafilter on mine. I don't have a portafilter screen, so that must be the difference. Also it looks like you are grinding finer.
It’s a must to throw away the pressurised portafilter and work with an traditional one. It’s night and day if you grind your coffee fresh. Thanx for your comment.
so you didn’t change the pressure from 15 to 9 bar ? on the edesiaespress page for this portafilter it says there might be a big mess if not or you think the additional puck prevents the spillage ? thanks for the content, i do really appreciate what people can do using Gaggia Viva models. I am still figuring out what dosage is better for the espresso and I do struggle sometimes with the measurements 😂
Do you use the additional Metal Filter against channeling due to the Higher pressure (15bar which are usually 12..12.5bar instead of 9bar) of the Gaggia Viva? Which Metal Filter do you use?
Yes I use and I have zero channeling. Also I see that the machine works in lower pressure from the noise it produce. I’m very happy with the results. This is the puck screen I use. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B09FPNCK91/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@@DimHim7473 Superb info....e.g. including the "lower pressure" factor....👍....would the Normcore equipment with 53.3mm fit, or do you need to Go for 53.5mm Equipment or 53mm at some Tools Like the Tamper? I could Imagine the Gaggia Viva does better Espresso than all Machines with Just thermoblocks and some with single Boilers... By the way if you Like good coffee - portafilter Machines are for Espresso and Lungo - try the Melitta AromaBoy. The Ratio Six and Ratio Eight does Just a slight Kind of Pre-Infusion/Blooming. They do Imitate the Melitta AromaBoy...more or less. The Bonavita 8-/9-cup or Technivorm Moccamaster does good 8-/9 Cups but is weak at even 50%. There you need to Go for a Ratio Six, Ratio Eight or a Wilfa Precision. Why Not using a Melitta AromaBoy instead? Looking for a Timer Mod for the Melitta AromaBoy....
@@espacesX The tamper that I have is 53 and is perfect. The coffee distribution tool that I have is also 53mm and is perfect. The screen puck is 53,5mm but I had measured the basket and I have 53,4 all the way down. You have and the +-1mm false in production of the coffee puck,so is also perfect.I use 18gr of coffee so I have plenty of room to dispense the water evenly. That’s why I have minimum or no channeling. And also the coffee puck helped me slow down the extraction to 32 from 25 seconds, which I need with my single origin coffee that I use.

@@DimHim7473would you recommend getting 53.5mm over 53mm.
@@DimHim7473 Is it possible to lower the pump pressure?
I don't find a portafilter like this to my machine: 53mm bottomless and 2 ears. If you have a link put here

¿How fine is the grinding?
In this grinder I have 4-5 clicks depending the coffee.
Where can I buy portafilter and metal screen like that ?
