    I think if you look at the way Hamilton drove in pre-season testing it seems clear he was more interested in exploring the limits of the car rather than putting in consistent laps / fast laps, that exploration has probably taught the team a lot about the new car and has put them in a good place for the 1st race ref set up. Russell on the other hand did a more standard pre-season test and that in itself will also have given the team valuable long run / high speed consistent run data.

    After FP3 ill make my prediction for the season. McLaren so far surprising me on the long runs. Particularly Piastri who looked the closest to Max.
    Im still struggling to predict McLaren in the top 3 but if Piastri has improved long run pace to that degree already, Lando has concerns this year. Pair that with Piatri's misfortunes last year being Lewis knocking him out of a race and just bad luck at Silverstone, his contention for top dog at McLaren in year 2 seems very plausible.

    ❌ People who claim there's no such thing as the spirit of the rules clearly haven't read the rules!
    Article 3.2 of the technical regulations explicitly states the goal of wanting the cars to be able to follow each other more closely and allows rules changes and clarifications to this effect. If the teams find a loophole that makes the racing worse, it will be clamped down.

    It's easy to forget how little running Norris had in testing as both of the biggest issues from the McLaren came just as he was about to do some long runs meaning that he hasn't found his preferred set up/balance in the car & he confirmed as much in his interview. That explains his struggles in FP2. Let's see what he does tomorrow in FP3 as he'll likely iron those issues out.

    • @stevenmoran4060
      @stevenmoran4060 3 месяца назад +3

      We learnt Norris isn’t as good as “experts” say.
      I’ve always said Oscar’s is the better driver and today has clearly shown it.
      Norris is another Stoffel Vandorne another driver Brundle raved about, the next big thing was his opinion.
      Don’t forget the expert Brundle also never won a race in F1, something Johnny Herbert did. Buy his opinion wasn’t as valid as Brundle.
      In fact the Sky F1 commentators only have Damon Hill as a successful driver but then, he was in a car that was so far ahead of any other in the grid he just had to win a title. However, Frank Williams wasn’t impressed and sacked him.
      There just isn’t an excuse for ending the second session last, it isn’t the cars fault as Oscar was in P5 1.8 seconds quicker the Lando.

    My unpopular opinion: 1. Fia should just specify the length, width, height, tyre, ground clearances, weight limits and safety standards for the F1 cars.
    2. The cost cap must be slightly extended and two buckets must be done. One for the actual development of the car and the other for year long upgrades. Let the team decide the distribution.
    3. Also teams must need to purchase wind tunnel time.
    Oh I can't stop imagining the absolute chaos that would unfold in the track.
