I was 10 when it came out and I liked it and remember it being well liked among other kids. Haven't seen it since and I'll keep it that way. It's probably best viewed through a child's eyes. Same director of not I think it's a mistake to compare a movie like this to Godfather.
I prefer Robin Williams in Hook, in Flubber and in the Bicentinal man; his characters were much more likable and funny than in Jack :) Also theses movies are fun, had pretty music, good special effects and drama. Everything that this movie hasn't! They are classics and i love them!
I dont hate Jack but you are right in saying it was disappointing. The story was never original to begin with but with Williams and Coppola teamed up they could have thrown in some fresh ideas. Coppola himself is a very talented writer with The Godfather films and Patton so he should have known this script needed a major rewrite. I agree more scenes with Jack growing up would have made a stronger film.
If it was an adult with a kid's mind, it would make more sense! It will also be cuter and more interresting. I know how it is because i'm a 26 years old adult with a decease called '' The right hemisphere syndrom. '' physically, i look like my age but mentally i'm 15. It's hard for me to understand the non-verbal language; for exemple, i got a huge lack of empathy and can't imagine how other peoples feels. Basically, i act like a teenager who has not a lot of friends and who like video games. My point is, if Jack had my syndrom; i would like him! I'm sure i'm no the only girl with a mental decease, peoples like me could like the movie if it represent us in a cute way. Apparently being relatable and funny is what's missing in Jack... good humor and drama too U-U

I think the movie was beautifully made. The strong message was present it’s sad that you don’t see it.
The movie was meh for sure. Not good. But I kinda like Jack and Louis’ friendship. It felt oddly wholesome.
