I got a 75 itasca class c in a chevy chassis with a 350 v8...I usually pump the peddle 3 times then wait a couple minutes then 2 more pumps then it starts immediately...you don't wanna tax that starter with a minutes long crank
In response to all the comments about you pumping the accelerator ect. I had the exact same chassis in a vanguard. When they sit and the carb float and fuel pump are a little worn and old, the fuel drains back to the tank. That tank is way back rear of the unit, so it takes time to pull fuel up from the tank. If mine was sitting for a while, I would prime(pour a little gas into the carburetor directly) the carb. It just helps save on the starter, but the cranking works as a pre-lube also.😋
I had a 79 gmc almost just like yours but the door to get into the living space was at the back and I had the 350 engine in it. Also It was the same color and had the same color stripes on it too mine didn't have the overhead bunk
You should have only pumped it once... I have a 1977 Dodge mellard class C with a 360 V8 and I had to change the intake manifold and carburetor to really get my girl to run right but I put a Edelbrock high performance aluminum intake manifold and four barrel Edelbrock carburetor and now she purrs like a kitten just one pump and she fires right up she don't even crank anymore before mine sounded just like yours.
Our friends 1972 Coachman fires and idles beautifully. However, when she hits the highway it turns into a piece of $hi/. No mechanic has solved her problems yet (4 yrs).
Did he check the Oil ? ! Just Starting up an Engine that hasn't Run in Years " Can Be the Worst thing that you can do " ! If you don't check the oil level 1st and try to get oil to the Moving Parts Before you Start a Long siting engine [ 1st.,] You'll be starting a Dry Engine and That will cause Severe Damage ! And if the Gasoline has been in the Tank for more then 2 years, then it has probably separated into Layers / I'm Not Kidding I bought a 30 year old MBZ 220SB once and That is what I found in the Tank before I Started it / There are Books on " How to Store an R.V.. It is Best to go by those instructions, Even if it for a Car !
Your demonstration could’ve went a little slower and I wish you would’ve had more lighting in there from a woman’s point of view because you went by so fast but other than that I enjoyed it
I suggest you talk to some one about making a video, you wave the camera around all over the place........look at other videos.....sadly yours is fast...good camera work is morving about slowly a good focus. poor presentation like this is like farts and burps in a conversation.........I encourage you to think it through on your next video, and you will be so please you did so and more will subscribe to you. Have a script also makes a difference.......Good luck with future videos.
I'm restoring one of these at the moment. Same model as yours. Thanks for sharing the video. It's nice to see another RV that looks just like ours!
We had a similar '79 when I was a kid in the 80's. Lots of fun memories cruising to Florida and Canada.

i have a 79 american clipper 21ft with a 440 edelbrock pefomance intake 600cfm holly dual exhaust and a beefed up 727tourque flight tranz its quick
Sounded like you had a belt or pulley bearing going, tell tale is the squeezing belt lol, by chance do you have any manuals for the gmc ?
Does this have a grey water and black tank? I'm purchasing a 1984 and I'm not sure where the separate tanks are.
Whats the length on this?
what is the fuel consumption on such a beast
Approx 8mpg. LoL.
GMC. A Chevy with lockwashers.
I would love to have that thing. To live in year round and start my utube page.
I have one. It's not fun. No room when you need it. It's like living in a hallway
What are you doing with the rv
Family camping trips to State Parks, making memories. 💙🏞🌅

Ours had dry rotted tires. Rode like a semi truck. Now with brand new pliable ones it drives like a van.
Is this for sale?
Not at the moment. Will update if they decide to sell. Thanks for asking.
