My Chemical Romance - The Foundations of Decay Bass Cover (With Tab)

- Bass cover of The Foundations of Decay by My Chemical Romance. I covered this song in Standard tuning, but the song may be in half-step down tuning. We won't really be able to confirm the tuning until we have live videos. Really seems surreal that we have new music from My Chem in 2022 but hell I'm all for it. Quite a dark & heavy song for My Chem, it reminds of their first album (Bullets) as well as the song Ghost of You and Sleep. Can't wait to see them play this live this year at When We Were Young & the Forum. Enjoy!

It's crazy to me how much Mikey Way has grown as a bass player. This is so different than a lot of his older parts but it's still has the same feel as a lot of their bass lines.
the original bassline doesnt really changed much from their older songs, still pretty basic, the bridge after breakdown in this cover is full of improv which i liek.
and in the intro, mikey doesnt play chord aswell, so yea.
the solo on sharpest lives
did you ever think you would be tabbing and covering a new MCR song :,)
I was hopefully when they first got back together but since it's been 3 years since they got back together I assumed they weren't going to put out anymore music. Glad I was wrong!
I really hope this means we get a new album soon. The world needs more MCR.
i cant wait for their new album
The “Bridge B” section sounds so good. Nice job with the tab and cover
you always bring so much more to their songs, ty for being the main reason i continue to learn bass :-)
That is so awesome to hear Daniel! Glad you enjoyed the cover
I have watched this video multiple times weekly since you uploaded it and im still blown away at 3:45
that tone is KILLER
I'm definetley going to start buy just getting the hang of the chorus but I'm definetley going to invest time in learning this. Your skills are incredible dude
i was really struggling in figuring out some notes. thank you so much for this cover, as always it’s really helpful and sounds very nice :)
Amazingly done! I love how good the outro sounded.
can’t wait to post this! thanks so much for all the tabs you post
Nice bassline! Great! 👍👍👍
i will learn bass part of this songs through your cover 👍🏼👍🏼
Its funny, I literally JUST bought a new bass that plays great but whose neck is too long to hit 0:04 ’s stretch. Honestly with the octave pedal bit, I might just learn how to do this in drop C#. Either way, fucking incredible tab man, thank you.
Yeah that stretch is tough for anybody on a regular scale bass, it was much easier to play the piano/guitar riff on a short scale bass. Drop C# is definitely an alternative to an octave pedal, reviewing the live video I didn't notice an octave pedal nor a dropped tuning. You can probably just get away without using the octave pedal, but I think it adds a lot of low end which seems to be audible in the recording. Thanks for watching!
great transcription, i missed your mcr covers
Sounds great 🔥🔥👍

qué hermoso suena el bajo en esta canción! 🔥
Well, he is fast
Very nice
The intro is guitar not bass from what I’ve heard. Also they just played live and Mikey doesn’t play a single note till about when Gerard starts singing. Still awesome playing and the tab sounds great regardless
Yup no doubt there is no bass in the intro, but when it comes to bass covers I'm not a fan of sitting/doing nothing for 20-30 seconds. In a real band setting I wouldn't but I like having my own arrangements to spice up my bass covers. They also don't play in Standard Tuning, but I know people would rather not tune down to play this song if they don't have to. Glad you like the cover!
👏👏😍😍
I love that bass so much I might have to get one . One question however have you modded the bass or are you using it as is ?
I'm just using the bass as is. It's a cool looking bass but honestly it doesn't sound that great, Mikey went back to using jazz and p basses. I'm hoping Fender releases his new jazz bass a a signature model but chances are slim.
@@MyBassistChris cool thanks for the insight there sold out everywhere near me anyway lol I would get one and upgrade it otherwise. I agree I would very much like to see a p / jazz bass signature module as well . Shame there is not much of a chance , but Hay we can dream
Do stuart and the ave
does mikey really play chords in the intro?
I wrote this
Damn. I can't keep up with mikey anymore lol
