He's no virtuoso but man, I never realized how far Mikey came on his instrument by the time MCR disbanded. That bass line on "the only hope for me..." is so sick.
Tysm for making a review, overall the neck is a bit concerning to me because I like to play a lot of fast stuff but it also gives me an excuse to use my other basses and not overplay the Mikey one too much lel. The pickups sound great and aesthetically it’s perfect, I just hope by the time I can afford it it’s not too expensive. Great review!!
Yes the neck is pretty much a standard P bass profile which is fairly beefy. Again some people prefer that, but I prefer a modern C or thin C profile. Hope you're able to snag your hands on one, I used Fender10 to get 10% so the base price was $1350 instead of $1500
The bullet truss rod is bc this bass is based off a 70s jazz when Fender was using that type of truss rod adjustment system. I nice touch to make it appear more vintage. Thanks for the review!
Nice comparison. Nice pick playing (I can't play with a pick). As you know, I just picked up my Mikey Way Jazz Sparkle. My serial is 911. I am a J bass player myself. This was made for me. Extremely disappointed with just a gig bag as the offering. for this bass. This is my 5th (and last bass...I say that now) in my collection.
Nice glad you were able to get the Mikey Way as well! Yes the "Deluxe" gig bag doesn't feel like a deluxe gig bag if you look at what other companies are doing. Overall though I'm still extremely happy with my purchase, I literally could not contain my excitement opening this bass. Enjoy your new bass!
That’s crazy, coz MCR formed after 9/11, and thus has some association to it for anyone that knows, that’ll probably be a pretty valuable serial number one day. Also if you really love it, it’d look amazing in a Black with Red lining G&G hardcase, that’s what I’m gonna do with mine once i can justify it
Thank you for this review! I'm not able to get the jazz bass myself as I don't live in the US (and even if I did I don't think I'd be able to afford it), so it's good to know about it through you!
When I heard the Jazz bass at 100% Neck Pickup, it made me think Mikey recorded Three Cheers and The Black Parade with a Jazz Bass. I wonder if there are songs that he played with a P-bass on the albums I mentioned.
acabo de redescubrir tu canal buscando información para comprarme un bajo, hace unos años veía tus covers de MCR y me emociona ver que conseguiste el bajo de mikey :)
Also- from what I can tell this is the exact same feature set as the Vintera 2 Jazz but with a $500 custom finish. Still worth it as a collector, loving mine
Glad you liked the review! The Vintera also has 60s styled jazz pickups while this has 70s styled jazz pickups. Also block inlays are a must for me on jazz basses haha
True as much as I love my P Bass, I think the music I've been listening too recently works better with jazz & humbuckers. I've been eying the Dunable R2 for a while and might try to get one of those later this year.
Yeah I think the Mustang will still retain it's value or appreciate in the next few years. Oh man I remember Phant-o-matics were $400 when they first came out but were about $600 when they were discontinued. $850 ain't bad at all for that guitar! I still need to get my phant-o-matic setup, it plays very poorly haha.
I'm using the Aguilar AGRO Bass Overdrive for all the overdriven tones in this video. It has a great overdriven tone, but you lose a lot of low end. It really only works well if you have cab simulation or an actual cabinet. Hope this helps!
@@MyBassistChris helps alot. i love the sound you got but i mostly go di live and use an amp just for stage volume so maybe ill keep searching for the perfect overdrive. great video
@@JK_35 The DI you use will impact your decision for the overdrive! Honestly the AGRO is overpriced for what it is. Some of my other favorites are the Way Huge Green Rhino, Darkglass Alpha Omega, and Joyo Tauren. Good luck with your overdrive search!
@@MyBassistChris My radial DI i have built into my rig so that is always consistant. good choices. ive been looking at the solid gold BETA V, or the Way huge pork and pickle
Sorry to hear that! I've been loving my Squier Classic Vibe '60s Competition Mustang. Chicago Music Exchange has it in the US and in Europe it should be under the name Squier FSR Classic Vibe '60s Competition. Honestly it is a much better bass than the Mikey Mustang lol
Thank you! Love your playing! Fellow bass player here - nice to hear what they would like in action the way they were intended to be played!

The mustang bass sounds really good with distortion/fuzz!

@@MyBassistChris yeah I like short scale and thin c usually, def gonna take some getting used to (but it’s worth it)

Nice vid, you should make another review for another signature bass🤘
I would love to review the Mike Kerr signature that came out, but I don't think I can afford two signature Fender models in the same year haha.
@@MyBassistChris yeah the price is kinda mehh

What happened to the defender of the p-bass?

if i believe hard enough the mustang will go down in price...
(i already payed $850 a phantomatic, im in debt)

Can;t find any good Mustangs anywhere near me, idk why.

You just need to upgrade to badass bridge the jazz bass and boo ya
