I agree. When water levels come back up I think fishing will get better. The Susquehanna river is super low right now and so is the conidiguenit. I’ve noticed what normally works has changed.
Heard somewhere that it’s the lowest it’s been since 1964. I live right on the conodoguinet and have barely touched it all summer, but the river has been on fire even with the low water
@@jonathanplank7224 dude the conidiguenit has been on fire most of the summer honestly. I’ve caught a lot of small mouth in the last few months. Water levels are definitely low though.
I think a few guide services put that out as well mate. Definitely will do more coming up this Fall as well. Most concentrate on the summer bite but I love the river Fall bite.
Just subscribed. Thanks for the useful information on the susquehanna smallmouth! Going to try some of your tips and hopefully catch more bass on my next outing.
Love fishing the Susquehanna. Even though I own a jet boat I prefer to Wade it. Right now I’m in my glory with it being so low. One bait to consider that is super effective on our river when the water is low and clear is the good old rebel crawfish. The rebel middle wee crawfish in stream craw color is awesome this time of year. Good stuff. Maybe I’ll see you on the water sometime. Tight lines!
What brand jet boat do you have? We had a great little window on Susky and Upper Potomac for Wade or tethering kayak but think the river is gonna rise this week.
@@J.L.ScottFishing I have a G3 1860 ccj deluxe. It's a good river that handles well. I am still learning on running the river with it. But man I do love to wade fish. I'll take it over jet boat fishing. Keep up with the great video's man. Hope we can talk fishing someday in person. Take care!
I want to start fishing more of that stretch. Only been to Falmouth ramp one time. Most either fish between the dams lower Susky toward MD or fish above Goldsboro north or Harrisburg to Sunbury because most are tourney anglers and those are designated areas.
Fish it just like the beetle. It will drop deeper in water column because of the weight but fish it the same way. Use the smaller tube baits the larger one out great pressure on thin wire spinner
You really seem to know your stuff - My cousin and I want to fish the Susquehanna and we are thinking about putting in at the Milton State Park? We are coming from Ohio - we are not tournament fisherman just love to fish!!! Do you have any advice on this area of the river? Thank you for your time.
Evening mate. That's West Branch Susky. My dad grew up south of there in Lewisburg. It's a nice stretch from Milton down to confluence probably over twelve miles or so. I tend to roll with more shiner and darter patterns in bait coloration than craw on the Western Branch but also through hellgrammite and stone caddies. water levels now are under two feet and even one foot in many areas around Milton but you likely find some deeper areas south toward Lewisburg.
Certainly an awesome bait to throw. Also throw Stone Caddies and River Darters as an alternative to craw forage options. There are a couple of new hellgrammites plastics hitting the market right now as well.
You don't think the river will have changed up by then mate? Spinnerbait picking back up here on Upper Potomac as water begins to finally rise again as the Plopper bite dies a quick death ☠️
Have you seen the new cicada blank. I think it's a little smaller than the ones on the market. Looking to see what the custom guys come up with. Congrats btw. Hope you do Fishing The DMV again to talk about this Hobie season. cheers mate.

Was out wading caught 40 fish most were decent too whopper plopped Ned's and swimbaits!!
You should do a weekly Susky technique discussion on what works that week!!! Great stuff!

Thanks for the tips. Im an hour away from the river and its been years since I've fished it. Planning a trip this weekend.
Lets us know how you did. I want to get up on the Western Branch before Fall settles in.

Nice video. I fish from Columbia to Falmouth. And all points in between.

How do you fish the tube with the beetle spin? Drag on bottom? Jig / Bounce of bottom or straight retrieve?
Fish it just like the beetle. It will drop deeper in water column because of the weight but fish it the same way. Use the smaller tube baits the larger one out great pressure on thin wire spinner
Is the water lower than normal right now?
Yes in many stages of the river.

I always caught smallies using a Nikko hellgramite on a drop shot.

My spinnerbait bite never died all day, both days
Look forward to seeing your video release. If you bring that Spinnerbait to Shenandoah next weekend better be a white one 🙂
