    Spot-on predictions and concerns, Nina! 🤘
    Now more than I ever I think it's time we start to view our blogs exactly like social media platforms - top-of-funnel lead capture platforms and NOT the final destination. Newsletters behind paywalls are the future. It's time to stop writing for Google/SEO and write for people again. Time to build buzz-worthy newsletters with loyal audiences who want to hear from YOU because of YOUR voice. Anyone writing blog posts as a commodity is going to be swept up by AI and left behind. Branding & a strong voice and POV are absolutely ESSENTIAL now!

      We're definitely moving away from free knowledge I'd argue as well, and putting human information behind a paywall so it's properly valued. If Google won't let us give it out for free and have people see it, then creators and publishers need a way to make an income.

    At around 42:17 minutes you said "you need any human knowledge" caught my attention because I am currently researching a place called Tirta Gangga in Bali for a blog post and an audio tour I'm creating. I was specifically looking for the meaning of "11" tiers of the fountain. My Google search came up with, and i finally stopped counting, 20 different Google listings that included "The centrepiece of the palace is an eleven-tiered fountain..."
    It's like there is no true research being done on travel locations. Writers, bloggers are just repeating what is already out there or, AI is grabbing what is out there and repeating the same information. It reminded me of the scene in the movie Fight Club, at the photocopy machine, "it's just a copy of a copy of a copy.
    I hope that by recognizing this early, it will help me shine by providing original content. Wish me luck!

      I disagree. You can't critique writers and bloggers for researching things poorly or not doing the work when you're only seeing what Google is surfacing. We've had serious issues with dedicated writers who do the research getting knocked off of Google entirely. Not sure if you've been following anything about the HCU or the March Core Update but those have been major issues and criticisms of Google that often what remains isn't very helpful or original. So those 20 listings aren't an accurate reflection of the hard work that is being done. It's a reflection of Google not recognizing the hard work or centering helpful content, regardless of their claims of doing so

    Thank you for the insight. I'm just starting up my blog and will start my RUclips channel after my move next weekend. I have to admit, I'm nervous about a lot of this.
    It feels a bit ironic. The primary benefit of creating our own sites was supposed to be that we own our own content, but that doesn't really feel like the case anymore. (Honestly, content creation is starting to look a bit like academia out here. I wouldn't be surprised if they started charging us to publish--but I digress).
    Realistically, I don't think AI is going to work the way the tech bros hope. The way people are using AI is clearly harmful, so long-term something is going to need to change.

    • @sheknowsseo
      @sheknowsseo  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes I think AI isn't being used as helpfully as it should at all. I definitely think users still want helpful, human generated content and not AI overview nonsense so I expect some of this has to shift

    21:40 - I find it very funny that they boast that their context window is so large but then when I tried to use it earlier today I said ''And now do this for article X'' and instead of writing a meta description it wrote the article 🤦‍♀ I was 4 meta descriptions in.

      It's specifically Google Gemini in the developer's area that they're talking about in the video so I don't think it applies to the free Gemini - they never even brought up the free one in the talk. I should have clarified

    Could you possibly link to the SEM rush tool you mentioned at the end? I went looking but couldn’t find it. That aspect of being able to see where my content is picked up by AI is new to me. 😊
    Thank you for this video summary.

      It's just the basic SEMRush system that does an audit of your blog. If you sign up for free from their homepage it shows up :)

      Thanks. Yeah it's well known for sending really dangerous and impractical advice. I think they're rushing it out to compete with ChatGPT but they really don't need to. They shoulda either baked it fully or tossed the batter out.

    Is there a link to the keynote?

    • @sheknowsseo
      @sheknowsseo  3 месяца назад +4

      Yes you can find it just by searching Google I/O keynote, but I'm not sharing the link as they aren't linking to bloggers, so why should we link to them, ya know? You can find RUclips copies of it from non-Google sources as well I'm sure. It's 2 hours for each keynote fyi
