Thank you to everyone for joining me live - or watching the replay - about the Google Algorithm Leak of 2024 and how it's going to affect bloggers.
I go through my new focuses for web traffic, whether I think blogging is dead, and some of the amazing data we found from this leaked API.
I know this video got long and a bit rambly - but it's because there's so much information out there about this and I think there's a huge shift happening and I really wanted to cover it. The first 30 minutes are my analysis and the last 30 minutes are me answering questions and talking about pivots.
(also don't mind my hair. The stress is making my curls frizz :p )

And of COURSE while I was live Google made a statement:
    searchengineland.com/google-responds-to-leak-documentation-lacks-context-442705
“We would caution against making inaccurate assumptions about Search based on out-of-context, outdated, or incomplete information. We’ve shared extensive information about how Search works and the types of factors that our systems weigh, while also working to protect the integrity of our results from manipulation.” - an unnamed Google spokesperson.
Barry from SEL said he believes Mike King regardless of this statement, and I'm included to agree. This is not an outright denial, and if it wasn't their algo they'd say so.

so if i created 10s of thousands of bots running on different browsers and IPs searching and clicking my site, would that rank up my SEO?

In theory yes for a short while, but why would you want to? That's not going to be sustainable and it won't make you money cause they aren't spending time on your site. Google will pretty quickly be able to spot that issue. I'd say the max I would expect that to work for it 6 months veing extremely liberal. And then you'd get banned more than likely

Descript or a similar AI tool would help you make your videos more succinct. This leaked document will help us learn how to compete with Reddit in Google’s search results.

Thanks for the feedback. I use Descript all the time, but this is my preferred longer form style. Cheers!
