Appreciate appreciate your honesty in reviewing this product. The biggest red flag to me was that the dealership and manufacturer are not working together to cover warranty issues. That’s a major issue in my opinion!
Yeah, you want to spend your money with companies that stand by their product and take interest in their customer base. There's a lot of people making RVs these days!
Glad I found you. What an absolutely terrific review. I really appreciate that even though it's not something you recommend anymore, you are still quick to point out the good things with the product - maintaining a rather unbiased approach. And you used it extensively before reviewing it. To people thinking about making reviews - THIS is how to do it. Thorough, and well articulated. I watch a lot of videos like this and yours REALLY stands out. Great work. Hell, you even come across as a great dude in general. I gotta like & subscribe just to support your efforts. Thanks again and I'll start checking out more of your videos.
@@DIYOutdoorLife Avid camper, but I don't have an RV. Interested in teardoprs/squaredrops. Can't afford either currently, just fun seeing what's out there. So many options. The shop-built/custom orders vs mass-manufactured is a pretty tough choice!
I love this video I've owned mine for about 8 months now you hit on every point. Customer service is garbage they truly don't care that has been my experience. And from the stereo to every other point you hit it perfectly. With some DIY projects we've turned a bad situation into a good one we use it all the time, but like you I would not recommend this teardrop. I wish seen this video 8 months ago I would have purchased something else you really did a good job explaining to future customers.
Thank you! I tried to make the video that I would have wanted to see before buying the trailer. Like you, a bunch of DIY projects later I have a trailer I use regularly. Hoping BC will hire a few new folks and make a commitment to stand by their products, it has not been the case. Thank you for the review and for your other videos regarding modifications and equipment. I am currently researching teardrops. I had a look at the 10HD the other day at a local dealer in Washington, NC. I was immediately disappointed in the quality of materials used in the construction. I don't believe it was a 2024 model, since the graphics were not new like those at the dealer you visited in PA. Your videos have given me context and prompts me to have another look at the Bushwhacker. I really am impressed with the attitudes of the owners you interview in your videos and the modifications they've made and with the love/hate relationships they have with these teardrops. I haven't made a decision, yet, on what my purchase will be, but your videos have given me valuable insights. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for making this 🙏🏻 We’re looking into teardrops and couldn’t figure out why the Tag and Bean are so expensive. Now we know! I won’t be wasting our money. Much appreciated.
Great vid again. Just came from the walk through vid. I agree with you and other - not backing the warranties can sink a product quickly. Did they say it would just take a long time to repair it just outright said they wouldn't fix it? Also do you have other trailers at this price point with this amount of features? I have looked at other small trailers like nucamp and scamps but price point is like twice as high as the bushwhacker
Hi Sheldon, Braxton Creek has been either unresponsive or unprofessional every time I’ve reached out. I had the opportunity to speak with many dealerships that have said they were having trouble being compensated for doing warranty repairs. As you would imagine, this will disincentivize them from wanting to work on these trailers at all. You’re seeing this show up in other reviews online. As for other trailers, stay tuned. I will be out looking as well and seeing what I can bring to the channel. What features are you looking for? Please like and subscribe!
Definitely appreciate an honest review. My wife sent me a link for us to possibly look into purchasing this brand and model. Not going forward now. Thank you
I appreciate you watching, if you have time, make sure to watch the more recent videos on the channel. I have reviewed a lot of the newer Bushwhackers that have been improved and showed how to fix all of the issues for cheap. Most recently, I just did a series on Hiker trailers definitely worth taking a look. Thanks for watching!
I really appreciate your honest review. We're first-timers, looking at buying another Braxton Creek-mfd trailer (the Free Solo OG), and I am now wondering if we should rethink our purchase. Yes, the issues are mainly 'fit and finish' but all of these 'extra' features go into making up the price. If these extra features weren't installed correctly, or are so cheap that they won't last / need to be replaced, we may end up deciding to save our money for now and spend it later on something else that doesn't have these issues. At the very least, we will be doing a VERY thorough inspection and checking all these things out very carefully. Thank you again! (and you gained a new subscriber!)
Thank you Jennifer! The Free Solo is basically the same trailer with new graphics and an ARB awning, they are for sale at dealerships that sell the most Braxton Creek trailers and are supposedly a limited time offer. Seems like you could get a "normal" bushwhacker and add the awning for a lot less, but they do look really nice. I really appreciate you comment, I was hoping to help others make a wise decision or do as you said, perform a more thorough inspection before taking it off the lot. So many of us live hours from dealerships and don't get to "kick the tires" as much as we would have hoped. I'm thrilled to have you as a subscriber and please keep us in the loop about how you make out and what you ultimately go with! :-)
@@DIYOutdoorLife Thanks so much for your reply... we decided, in the end, to NOT buy the Free Solo, and to hold off for now on purchasing any type of camper / trailer. For the amount of money, we do NOT want to *fix* things or have "unusable" accessories (such as the cooler that they call a refrigerator). If we were spending $12,000+ on a car, we would NOT find it acceptable to have the radio wired up backwards, or to have parts that don't work until we modify them. That's not why we want to get a trailer. We want to buy it, hitch it up, and go, without having to do a lot of 'fixes' first. My DH also had reservations about the towing capacity of my vehicle (KIA Soul), but ultimately for me, the decision was more about spending a LOT of money (for us) and not getting a good product for it. i.e., the best product available. Quality control is important in the industry where I work (FDA-regulated); I think shoddy quality control like what's been shown from Braxton Creek products should be unacceptable. We're going to regroup, do more research, and rethink whether we want to upgrade the vehicle so we won't be 'shoehorned' into this one option for a trailer because of the towing capacity. I appreciate all your information, as well as all the information from other Bushwhacker owners about the issues that they've seen. I understand that these issues aren't deal breakers for all owners, but for me, the totality of them, along with the possibility of problems getting warranty service from the dealer, really is a deal breaker.
@@jenniferahlstrom590 I think you're making a wise decision. Sadly, it's a tough time to find quality for a reasonable price. I hope you're able to find a teardrop that fits your needs and will come back to share with us. I'm releasing a video tomorrow on the nicest teardrop I've ever seen!

Great vids on 10SS, I have 10FB and am experiencing some of the same defects. So far, I have relocated the pump switch, corrected the stereo/speaker wiring, changed the propane tank installation (now a dual tank mount, upgraded regulater, and moved closer to tongue crank) added a truck style bed box and resealed the roof where the cargo rack is mounted. Lots of small leaks fixed too. The TV antenna is useless, also added a roof vent cover, which limits roof rack storage, but is worth it for air flow during heavy rain. I added spare tire mounting supports as the spare was very "wobly" (if thats a word) when cranked to the up position. Still, I expect to keep the 10FB for a few years as most of the "bugs" are fixed. Thanks again for your xlnt vids, much appreciated !
Thanks Dave! Yeah, we're all in it together. Really nice concept that had poor quality control on the execution. Most of us would have ponied up the extra $500 to have it done right. Like you said, once you've done the repairs, it's a nice little rig. I'm happy you swung by, keep us in the loop as you fix and modify!! SUBSCRIBE: ruclips.net/user/diyoutdoorlife
I ran across your video while doing some research on teardrop style campers. I'm looking to purchase my first RV soon. I LOVE the NuCamp lineup. They seem to be pretty good quality. They listen to their customers on things to improve on. And they obviously have an avid fan base, which tells me something. I ran across the Braxton Creek Lineup and thought it would be worth looking into. However, after not seeing many online owner reviews and seeing this review, I am definitely leaning towards continued saving up for a NuCamp trailer. I appreciate the honest approach you took with this.

Hello from New Hampshire! We just purchased a 2022 Bushwacker 15FK. I agree that this is teh low end of the tear drops for all the issues you mentioned. We already have to add support to the wood framing that our cushions sit on. The " door side" frame was screwed into the side frame, but the opposite side was stapled only and broke away.....JUST like your back cavity. We wanted the 1900 lbs dry weight for our toy Tacoma to pull. It pull like a dream! That said , it feel more like a DIY project that we bought and are required to finish properly. The price was decent for what was done well. Nopw we need to make it our own.
It’s definitely a DIY project, I still can’t wrap my head around the price of other brands these days. Now that I’ve fixed it up, it’s really growing on me! 🙂
Well done. The facts speak for themselves. This is a great review has on the reality goggles. Thanks for showing the details that matter so buyers can go into the deal with both eyes open. Again well done! =Cosmo

thanks for the honest review, i have a 2020 fb. plan on taking it out to wyoming from pa this year, agree on the kitchen layout, problem is theres no room to do much of an upgrade on it i may remove the entire kitchen this winter and redoing, spent a ton of time looking for a fridge replacement, no luck . off grid i plan to run on a generator, also upgrading the batteries to dual 31 series, replaced the rack on front with an aluminum truck bed tool box, haves plenty of room for secure storage for propane and batteries and all leveling and wheel blocks. also removed the name graphics from mine, thanks again and be safe

Thank you for the review.. After an extensive research of teardrop campers I had settled on three potential campers. The Bushwhacker was one of the three. I was aware of its fit and finish issues, but the price point was a determining factor. Your review was very helpful to decide against this teardrop. the two remaining trailers, which are more than twice the price is High Camp, steel, and Tag320CS. I am leaning to the High Camp because they seem to have the camper in mind in the build process. It is cozy inside ,and it is a one off build. Thank yo for the review. Any thoughts towards my other choices?
It’s always a tough choice for sure, pros and cons to each. Also, make sure to check out the video I did on the 2022 Bushwhacker, some noteworthy improvements. If possible, see if there’s a place that rents the teardrops you’re looking at. Rentals are becoming more and more common and are a great way to try it on for size. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching. If you check out my videos on the newer models, they have made some solid improvements. Really tough to get anything decent without a scary price tag.
I looked at a Braxton Bushwhacker 12sk at a camper show. I was so excided and put money down for the dealer to hold it. I was going to pick it up this weekend but, thanks to your video I will be looking at other options. THNAK YOU!
I’m glad it was helpful. I will say, this video is two years old and they’ve made some significant improvements. Maybe take a look at the quality of the build after seeing this video, it might still be a great deal for you.
@@DIYOutdoorLife Unfortunately, I observed the same issues. There was sealant missing around the fan in the roof. The gas hookup was still behind the back tire. We and also the dealer could not get the radio to work, the antenna was higher then the roof rack, the same issues...
Thank you Brian for your honest opinion and well spoken review. I had this trailer on my short list. Just want to add I really enjoyed your videos with Cosmo Weems...very informative. Please keep up the good work.
just a note to let you know that your experience with Braxton Creek is similar to mine. I had a Bushwacker Plus. I as though they did about 75% of the assembly and expect you to finish it up. I put up with it for three years but finally gave up/ Love your videos!
@@DIYOutdoorLife yes! I got a Gulf Stream 197BH . A low end ultra lite 22’ trailer. Priced closely to my Plus 15FK but so much better assembled. Still needed some work but nothing like my “Walker”.
Great video. I just bought the same trailer, but have yet to take it out. There are a couple differences that I noticed with mine compared to yours. On mine the pump switch is located above the shelf so now it is out of the way of the stove. Also, the antenna on the roof is mounted towards the rear and more out of the way of the roof rack. As far as the stereo, I had to fix one of the rear speakers, but they all appear to work decently now. The antenna seems to be pretty useless as the radio sounds bad. But when I used Bluetooth and played music from my phone, it sounded a lot better. I haven't put it to the real test yet, but thought I would note some changes they made since you have bought yours. And your other videos about the trailer have been very informative, keep them coming! Also, I forgot to add that instead of the fridge, it comes with a cooler.

I just found your channel recently and appreciate your thorough and honest reviews; thank you! I am considering options for downsizing from a 7'x14' converted cargo trailer to something more fuel efficient and suitable for two people. I was thinking about buying a Bushwhacker and rebuilding the galley. Has your opinion of them changed since this video, and do you think any of the models are better built than others?
Check out my more recent videos, I think my opinion has evolved a lot. Although it is a really chintzy finish, there is a ton of value here. I’ve spent the last couple years meeting thousands of tiny camper owners, for anyone with some DIY skills, you can really make the Bushwhacker into something nice and save $$$.
I have a Bushwacker 10FP. We've taken it cross country and have had none of the issues you mention. The only real problem I have is the drain the radio puts on the battery when i don't even use the radio, but I can't figure out how to turn it off. You mention pulling the fuse... where is the fuse?
What year is yours? There seems to have been some ups and downs depending on what point of the pandemic the trailer was purchased in…lol I will link a video I did on fixing the radio once and for all. I talk about the fuse placement and show its location while I’m installing the switch. Hope this helps! ruclips.net/video/uIdrRjunjZE/видео.html

Thanks for letting me know YT somehow whacked my comments. Essentially I was thanking you for an unbiased review. I felt the price of the Bushwhacker made it something to consider, but as a potential first timer and non-DIY type (I'm into hot rodding not woodwork), and that a better model might be in store for us. Possibly in 2022.
Glad you got one through! LoL. I’m sure with your experience, this would be a breeze. It’s mostly simple projects, check out my other videos to see what I did.
Thanks for the honest review on this trailer , the wife and I still went out and purchased . Some changes made even for the same year as yours is our TV antenna , which we will never use, has been moved and also switch for water pump has be moved to the top self in galley. Finishing is sub standard but for the price of a new trailer like this still made it a pealing to us . Will need some fixing up though out it usage. Love your channel and and look for ward to to new content .
Hey Stuart, I think it’s time for an updated review with the trailer. I agree wholeheartedly that they’ve made some sound improvements. I appreciate you watching and thanks for commenting!
Do you know of a cover that would fit trailer. Have you used one. I live on Vancouver island and get alot of rain so looking to cover it up when not in use .
I was just getting ready to purchase that camper, or the Flagstaff E-Pro... simple choice now, THANKS! P.S. you seem very sincere, so I'll take your advice.

There has been considerable improvements over the years with this model, and I've review dozens of the new Bushwhackers and gave some pretty positive reviews.
I just bought the 10FB version of this teardrop and it seems they have learned from some of these mistakes. The roommates clear the vent when not opened. The antenna has also been moved toward the rear so it doesn't interfere with the racks either. My radio was wired correctly but I haven't used it yet. Also, the water pump switch was moved above the shelf now.
I saw this on a newer model I checked out. Really happy they’re fixing some things. Unfortunately they’re still selling FB’s with the AC not working. I’m really excited glad they’re improving, can’t beat the price!
My friends, I’m very happy for everyone’s information here and I’m absolutely subscribing for more of your spot on observation. Heath sir, I just put a deposit on a 10FB and looking forward to picking it up in 2 weeks. The things that you mentioned, I also saw and understood along with the refrigerator has been replaced with an ice box type cooler which I will probably replace and use the space for more storage. My real questions would be about the water leakage and the electrical wiring. Any issues in any of those areas?? Is the spare tire a donut or an actual replacement tire? In your opinion, are the walls solid enough to screw brackets and hooks for additional shelving or Bungee cord anchors? Thanks for any advice anyone can offer a novice like me. Cheers and Happy Trails🍻
@@xinuganda221 So far no water issues as far as the sink goes. I did find an issue where some of the foam on one bolt for the storage rack didn't fully cover and some water got onto the inside. Should be an easy fix with some flex seal. I would not drill into the walls for sure. They will not support much weight. I plan to use some command hooks for additional hanging storage.
@@heathdunnam2378 Thank You very much my friend, I’m really concerned because I always tell my wife “you get what you pay for “ and I understand the market right now as well, but I just hope I don’t eat my words later. Someone mentioned painting the whole thing with truckbed liner but that would probably cause more problems, yes??
@@xinuganda221 you're very welcome. I haven't used it out on the road yet. I'm still checking everything and making some changes to it. But so far so good. I have seen some trailer sold with the bed liner on them. I wouldn't paint it right now because I've seen many of those paint jobs that look very weird once they start fading. It could certainly be an option down the road though as the stock paint starts to fade.
Thank you. I've been shopping around for something affordable. Had not heard of Bushwhacker, but it looked intriguing. I would prefer they leave off the cooktop and maybe make the sink a pullout with a plastic basket I could take out. The fridge too would have to go. Cute trailer though.

The Bushwacker debacle is a shame. It seems like a nice sleeper to travel across country, but if the company doesn't have it's product line together then why buy the product? I'd like to ask what would be a good teardrop camper, but where do you good to find one? But all in all -- it was a good video. Cheers, SoCalJoe
I hear ya. The HD models from 2022 are assembled considerably better than mine. That’s promising. As far as good trailers, you’ll see why I went with a Bushwhacker..$$$ Campinn, Vistabule, Bean etc command a pretty unbelievable price tag. Thanks for swinging by, let me know how you make out.
I am looking to buy my first trailer and I stumbled upon your video. Before buying an expensive trailer, I want get something cheap and get my feet wet in camping and see if I like or not. I know you made this video sometime back. But do you still don’t recommend the new BW 10HD in 2022?
Check out this updated review I did on Playing with Sticks. ruclips.net/video/nArWlWIJDgI/видео.html The 10 HD is a definite improvement. I was looking at the Free Solo DIN (made by Braxton), which is the same as the Braxton Plus 17FD. Do you still recommend that? I know it is a different model, but it is still made with similar cheap materials.
I was just out camping with someone who owned one this weekend! Unfortunately, it is definitely made with the same construction. Braxton Creek is making entry level, affordable RV's. They "skimp" every way they can. With that being said, they cost 60% of the competition, so it's important to know what you're getting yourself into. If you are handy, or a light user, I would say it's an excellent value. If you want to use the camper regularly and don't want to spend time "fixing things up", I'd recommend getting a different brand. Have you looked at the GeoPros?
Great informative review man, thank you. Bushwackers are as you mentioned kind of seem to stand alone in the features vs price point class. Several options near the price range but with no kitchen, just galley storage. It has made me look at one dealer in particular that is a couple hours away that offers a lifetime warranty on all campers IN-HOUSE, separate from the manufacturer. Just today we stopped and talked with our retired camper-owning neighbors. The husband said "It's not if, it's what you'll have to fix and troubleshoot on them. That's just the sad reality of the fun and freedom of having a camper and we've owned them at many price points." There's probably some real truth to that!
Absolutely! I was impressed with the bones of the build_ frame, carriage, axle, tires, skin_ but it's almost laughable how low the quality control on finishing is. They're selling them full of shavings and saw dust with crooked trim and sealant smeared all over the place. If you know what you are getting into, are handy, and can inspect before you buy...the price is fantastic. Just hate seeing people walk into a surprise. SUBSCRIBE: ruclips.net/user/DIYOutdoorLife
Such a difficult question. If you're handy and don't mind some projects, go with a Bushwhacker. They have made some improvements since this video came out. If you're looking for a turn key trailer that is quality built, they start at 20k. Look at geo pro, great price for the build quality. Circle back to let me know what you find! From what I’ve seen, Braxton Creek is poorly made across the board. They are however, considerably cheaper than the competition across the board as well. If you are looking for high quality, low maintenance, consider going with someone else. If you’re handy and don’t mind working on your RV, save some money and get the 17FD. Hope this helps, I don’t like people being surprised by things after spending hard earned money. Hope you’ll subscribe! - Brian
Great review! I see Bushwackers available at dealers in the MI WI area and wondered about them. Yours is the best review. Not many other campers out there that are not on a waiting list. Good to hear they started out with good frame and running components. Like you, I can fix leaks as long as they are not hidden-camper-killers, and I can fix broken stuff - some to be expected (hey, its a house going over bumps) as long as it is easily fixable, not dangerous, and does not leave me stranded and wreck my fun. The nice price suggests more “self-warranty”. Some of the setup is really nice, but that “fridge,” faucet, and rack setups really should have never made it past conception (really - just need a spot for an ice chest or compressor fridge that eveyone has). The solutions at the mfg is just to easy and saves money, so these continued bad decisions suggest they dont care at all does not bode well. Unfixable leaks are very disappointing. So the question is if paying half price for self repair is worth it. Long term probably no - but hey, if the price gets people out camping, running gear is reliable, they have the ability to find and fix a bit, and can store it protected, it could last a very long time and provide a bunch of fun like my parents’ cheap Colman popup did for many years. Without going broke. And if still in the market later, then know EXACTLY what is important. Thanks! Forewarned is forearmed.
This is one of the most spot on comments I've read. In my mind, you get it 100%!! The trailer is a brand new fixer-upper, priced like a used teardrop. If you can do the fixing up yourself, it's a great buy. If you can't, steer clear!! BC has dropped the fridge and fixed the roof rack...that's a start. They seem to be unmotivated to up their QC. Appreciate you tuning in, thanks for the helpful contribution to comments!
@@DIYOutdoorLife Thank you for your great & complete review! Great to hear about the fridge and roof rack fix. Yeah, QC is horribly bad all over the mass produced industry even in the high priced. The small batch small guys are doing it right - Good for them! Still kind’a need the cheap mass produced. Hopefully a few of them figure it out. Runaway and Hiker seem to do a good job, but Bushwhacker has a couple of additional nice features. Thanks Again!
They came out in 2020, but the vast majority of the trailers on the road are ‘21. I know some used ones on the market, but they’re the same price as new…
Thanks for such an informative video. You mentioned some things I hadn't thought of that I need to consider on ANY tear drop trailer. I subscribed just because of this video. Thanks so much!
I have, they are nearly identical. BC puts an aftermarket ARB awning on a Bushwhacker with new graphics. They are not worth the added price. I have talked to several folks who picked them up because it was all they could find, seems like bigger dealerships are getting more Freesolos in than normal Bushwhackers. I will say that BC has changed several of the things that I've commented on in this video (for 10ss, 10 fb, & Freesolo) If you are handy, or willing to follow the videos I've made on this channel, they are an excellent value for the price. I’ve read nothing but bad reviews. Thanks for your input. I was looking at a cheap used 2022 model. Now I know why it’s cheap and for sale under a year old
Thanks for tuning in, check out some of the newer videos I have on the channel as well. I have a review of the 2022 - 10 HD model, which proved to be a little better than the one I got.
@@DIYOutdoorLife I’m looking at buying a 10 HD for $10,800 USD. It’s about $1,500 USD lower than what the dealers in this area are asking, I’m in Canada. What do you think? Also I’m gonna weather this thing outdoors thru the winter.
@@a.b.317 did you look at my new series on hiker? They have some amazing options in that price range. If not, that’s a great price for a Bushwhacker. Keep me in the loop, happy to help if I can.
The price is a good selling point. But craftsmanship and quality issues that you highlighted steered me away from product. What do you say about nucamp TAG that is asking for 20k?
It seems like you've picked up on the dilemma we are all facing. The T@G is nice, I really like the Boondock. The problem is, it's way way wayyyy overpriced. The Bushwhacker has everything I wanted, but is unnecessarily poorly made. I wish they would have charged $500 more for the BW and finished it a tad slower... Anyway, I am actively seeking out other trailers and will share what I find. One option is to get a BW and bring it somewhere to finish it off a little better...probably cheapest route. Also, look at the Sunray or Geo Pro... I haven't used them heavily but I'm hearing great things! Thanks for contributing, circle back and let us know how you're making out!

Brilliant review my friend. I just put down a deposit on this camper 10FD model, today before I saw your excellent balanced and informative review. I will likely move forward with it since most of the issues have been resolved or adjusted. I’m still very concerned about the leaking and electrical issues though. I picked mine up yesterday. I got home after a 380 mile drive and lay down in it. I could see right outside above the passenger side door. There is a full 1/4" gap. I bought it knowing it would have issues (my galley hatch is cockeyed) but this gap is ridiculous.
Shakes my head… they’re made a lot of improvements but there still doesn’t seem to be any quality control. There should be some inspection where they send them back to the line. Would probably save Braxton Creek money on recalls and warranty…
Hey Brian, if you ever try the ARC22 or ARC35 by Alpicool, let us know. The measurements appear to favor the tiny-ass refrigerator slot we have in the Bushwhacker. LG compressor in them so not all that bad. A tad $pendy, but heck, I think I'm ready to bite on one. I think I'll make a box(es) first using the dimensions of the 22 and 35 first then dry fit.
Make sure to check the height where the galley door shuts… that’s the one that catches you. I absolutely love the bouge RV refrigerators…lol they’re dirt cheap, bullet proof, and the 23 quart fits in with no modifications. I’m going to be making slide out for it this month, that might require a little cutting. I don’t have any experience with the Alpicool but I’ve heard good things.
@@DIYOutdoorLife Yeah, the height possibilities is the Achilles heal for sure getting a fridge to fit. I'm showing 22.28*12.20*12.60in as the dimensions for the 23 quart. I guess the 'win' at that length is the height. I'll check it out. Thanks Brian
Going to look at these Saturday at a dealership just to see and touch one. I thank you for being honest. I like the way it looks and laid out. They are around 14,000 here in The Atlanta area. Figured if I liked it I would find a year old for sale and save some money ? Great info thanks again !
That’s a great idea, in fact most people fix some of the simple stuff. Might actually get a better trailer for less money! Check out our other videos to see upgrades mods etc.
Checking out reviews for these campers. Getting ready to buy a 2022 model. I feel like it will be a great camper. Seems like the issues that were presented are just minor and very fixable. Can't wait to get mine.
That’s right, you will love it. Having a tiny camper is great and the HD has some nice improvements. Check out my other videos for some nice modifications to the new trailer. Thanks for watching!
I bought mine sight unseen. My door has a gap large enough to pass the stereo remote through. I have yet to hear from my dealer (380 miles away), but the 'fix' would be to remove and reinstall the door and frame. The problem might be that the opening is too large or out of square. Color me bummed.
@@DIYOutdoorLife Right now due to the tow capacity of my 2019 Jeep Compass I'm looking at the Braxton Creek Free Solo Plus Romo 15FK, again with my tow max I am shopping for an option under 2k in weight.

I'm considering one of these trailers and one BIG question I have is regarding putting a rooftop tent up top. I'd like to put a Thule Tepui 3-person tent up top that weighs 120 lbs. But once there are 3 people in it (just kids for now) it will start to exceed 300 lbs pretty quick. Is the 300 lb rating static or dynamic? Has anyone in the community done this? I really enjoy my new 2021 Bushwacker and have taken it on some pretty sketchy roads that I would not try with other teardrops. I agree about the warranty. The AC doesn’t work and I am having trouble getting it repaired. I wish that the stupid radio was not included. Taking out the fuse is a good idea.
Hey Wendy, great point! I really love the Dexter Axle, wheels, and tires. I've had mine places that campers shouldn't go...haha Do you have a FB w/ the AC in the middle?
I have the SS, with the AC next to the window. I am trying to make a grate that will distance the bed from the furnace. I just took apart the stereo, but I can't find the fuse!!! @@DIYOutdoorLife
Hi Wendy, what is the AC doing? Does it overheat and shut off or not work at all? I also addressed the fan for furnace. Cut the cushion open, removed a chunk of foam, then sewed it back up. When I topped with memory foam, I cut a horse shoe out of that as well....feels much safer! Now for the stereo...haha ... Remove trim by prying off (easy), take the screws out on corners, pull unit out, fuse on back, reinstall...lol Hope this helps! PS...nice channel! @@DIYOutdoorLife Thanks so much, got the fuse out! My AC blows air that has not been cooled, so I have to suspect the compressor. The nearest dealer is over 2 hours away, so that would take 8-9 hours of travel to repair, since it would require 2 trips. I am working with Braxton Creek to figure out a better solution. Your videos have been really helpful. My next project will be to reseal, thanks to your instructions. I bought the Bushwacker knowing that the "fridge" was really just a glorified cooler, and I place a gallon water jug that has been frozen in it, as I would any cooler. Another good video Sir 👍👍 the position of the propane was the first thing I thought was not necessarily the best place and the gas line connection behind the wheel should have a skid plate protecting it but for the price I can do modifications and reinforcements snow roofing and roll on bed liner thanks for the good info I've always had to modify everything anyways and it would be less expensive than building my own especially if I built one from an aluminum trailer and marine decking I don't you good advice has just destroyed my life plans lol 👍 it's back to the drawing board 😀
Haha.. I have zero regrets now. My modifications have been simple and inexpensive and the total value of the trailer is now through the roof. For people that don’t mind doing some small upgrades, like the ones you mentioned, there’s a ton of value here. I do still try to steer people clear that are looking for a maintenance free, turnkey trailer.
The Yeti roadie 24 actually fits perfectly in the spot of that coleman cooler. I have a cigreen 22qt 12v fridge that also fit perfectly, but its been out of stock for months. Not sure its coming back :(

The fridge works pretty well and definitely fits. You do have to remove the bottom wooden shelf in order to make it fit. It’s only screwed on with a couple of screws. It is a little bit more power-hungry then I would like but it is definitely better than the Coleman cooler

Appreciate appreciate your honesty in reviewing this product. The biggest red flag to me was that the dealership and manufacturer are not working together to cover warranty issues. That’s a major issue in my opinion!
^
Yeah, you want to spend your money with companies that stand by their product and take interest in their customer base. There's a lot of people making RVs these days!
That seems to be par for the course with most RV manufacturers and dealers now. It’s shocking what they get away with.
Hi Sheldon,
Braxton Creek has been either unresponsive or unprofessional every time I’ve reached out.

This is a very cool video. I think me and my bother we'll be having quite the summer.
it's a real cliff hanger

We and also the dealer could not get the radio to work, the antenna was higher then the roof rack, the same issues...

just a note to let you know that your experience with Braxton Creek is similar to mine. I had a Bushwacker Plus. I as though they did about 75% of the assembly and expect you to finish it up. I put up with it for three years but finally gave up/ Love your videos!
That’s a shame, did you get something new?
Thank you! I've been keeping up with some of the changes, happy to see they're adjusting some of the design. You're going to love having a teardrop, circle back and keep us in the loop!

There seems to have been some ups and downs depending on what point of the pandemic the trailer was purchased in…lol
I will link a video I did on fixing the radio once and for all. I talk about the fuse placement and show its location while I’m installing the switch. Hope this helps!

Thanks for letting me know YT somehow whacked my comments. Essentially I was thanking you for an unbiased review. A great honest review. (You might flip the gas struts. The pistons should be down so the seals stay oiled and start leaking.)
This is great advice. I’m considering swapping them before they lead to someone getting hurt, I’ll put the new ones with the proper orientation.
Thanks for the honest review on this trailer , the wife and I still went out and purchased . Some changes made even for the same year as yours is our TV antenna , which we will never use, has been moved and also switch for water pump has be moved to the top self in galley. Also, make sure to check out our more recent videos.

@@xinuganda221 So far no water issues as far as the sink goes. I did find an issue where some of the foam on one bolt for the storage rack didn't fully cover and some water got onto the inside. Should be an easy fix with some flex seal.

@@DIYOutdoorLife thats an excellent idea!

What campers would you recommend as an alternative to this?
Such a difficult question. If you're handy and don't mind some projects, go with a Bushwhacker. They have made some improvements since this video came out. If you're looking for a turn key trailer that is quality built, they start at 20k.
Look at geo pro, great price for the build quality.

was looking at the bushwhacker plus 17FD, do you think that model maybe a little better built than yours?
From what I’ve seen, Braxton Creek is poorly made across the board. They are however, considerably cheaper than the competition across the board as well. If you are looking for high quality, low maintenance, consider going with someone else. If you’re handy and don’t mind working on your RV, save some money and get the 17FD. First time watching. Thank you for your honesty!
Thank you for watching

Have you seen their Freesolo line of teardrops? I am going to look at them hoping they corrected some of these issues.
It seems like you've picked up on the dilemma we are all facing. The T@G is nice, I really like the Boondock. The problem is, it's way way wayyyy overpriced.

I bought mine sight unseen. My door has a gap large enough to pass the stereo remote through. I have yet to hear from my dealer (380 miles away), but the 'fix' would be to remove and reinstall the door and frame. The problem might be that the opening is too large or out of square. Color me bummed.

Harry watched this today - I overheard the roast. 🔥 😂 Hey, the honesty is appreciated!
Haha.. Harry is our favorite fan!

Ugh! Thank you! Was gonna order this unit, literally this upcoming Saturday. Definitely saved my butt. I’ll be looking elsewhere
I'm glad it helped. I think they've made some improvements vs where they were in the heart of the pandemic, but the trailers definitely need to be inspected before purchase. Thanks for watching, hope you'll subscribe!

Thank you! I appreciate that.
in the furture? Can you livestream or record and upload and show us the versatility of the tear drop? I'd really like to see where you can take this bad boy. Especially attached to that jeep. That some next level swagger. im looking for
happy to take requests...more vids to come!
What do you think of the Coachman Clipper TD? I think it's near the 10k price.
Which model? They have one clipper that pops up I’ve seen, is that the one you’re asking about?
@@DIYOutdoorLife yes the pop up I think the full model name is Clipper td 9 or td-12 depending on the size.
@@knightrc They do look cool! My issue is with the lifting mechanism and canvas. If you have ever owned a pop-up, you know what I mean. They are prone to failures and the canvas gets mildew on it and smells. Seems to go from smelling like mold, to vinegar, to bleach, back to mold....lol
Have you seen the SunRay? Also, someone just asked me to check out the GEO Pro G12SRK, haven't seen one in person yet though.
Keep us in the loop, let us know how you're making out and ultimately what you go with. Thanks for watching, hope you'll subscribe!

@@DIYOutdoorLife I have not owned a popup.
@@knightrc some people love them, I certainly spent my fair share of nights staying in one, they just tend to have more issues then a solid, enclosed cabin. I'm excited to try some new rigs out and share on channel!
Remove trim by prying off (easy), take the screws out on corners, pull unit out, fuse on back, reinstall...lol
Hope this helps!
PS...nice channel! I love what you're doing and have subbed and will continue watching. Very impressive!
After 4 days, a triple wrapped bag of ice does the trick. Perhaps not as good as my Stanley cooler, but so much more convenient.
@@wvannorden1 I have received AMAZING tips on fridge. There is both a high quality cooler and a actual fridge that fit! Happy to share if you ever decide to upgrade. Also, circle back if you resolve AC issue, there's always someone else with the same problem. Thank you!
Thanks for this great review. I was considering buying a Bushwacker, but I think I'll pass and look for something else.
It’s definitely not for everyone, but check out some of my newer videos. They have made a lot of improvement and there’s some easy ways to fix the problems and save a ton of money over other camper brands. I’m still up in the air, some people should avoid it and it would be great for others.
@@DIYOutdoorLife thank you for the heads up. I'll check out your other vids. Maybe the Bushwhacker is not out of the running yet! Do you know if it will hold my rooftop tent?

Appreciate your honesty. I considered a used one but will decline. Ty
Thank you so much for watching! I will say, they've made significant improvements in the last couple years. Some things are the same, but there's a lot of saving graces now. If you have a minute, check out all of our more recent content on the Bushwhacker, this video is three years old.
Was thinking of getting one not now awesome review!
Check out my review of the new model, they have made some improvements. Thanks for watching!
I just checked out HYK trailers maybe U can check those out .They not only custom order them but they also have kits to have the person put them together themselves or even rent them before they buy them and their price is around 6. 000$ or so and they have other options with them but they are way under the $ 15,000 mark .
I’ve definitely continued to circle back to them. They seem to be doing great things and building well.

@@DIYOutdoorLife , I did thanks
I do still try to steer people clear that are looking for a maintenance free, turnkey trailer.
great job on the real world review. thanks.

The Yeti roadie 24 actually fits perfectly in the spot of that coleman cooler. I have a cigreen 22qt 12v fridge that also fit perfectly, but its been out of stock for months. Not sure its coming back :(

@@OutdoorTXs you helped me make the new faucet...game changer! I really like your channel too, maybe a collaboration some day?
@@DIYOutdoorLife sounds like a plan!
Hey man! I have the same one. Found a fridge that fits and works great! Need a link?
Yes sir! Someone else reached out too, what are you using?
The fridge works pretty well and definitely fits. You do have to remove the bottom wooden shelf in order to make it fit. It’s only screwed on with a couple of screws. It is a little bit more power-hungry then I would like but it is definitely better than the Coleman cooler
The link didn’t show up. Would love to see how you’re solving the problem.
Hopefully the link works. It's currently unavailable on amazon but I'm sure you can find it somewhere else.
It fit and works well.
