Seeing Rhino Ranger reminded me of how one of my friends and I talked about unusual it was that Jungle Fury's toyline had the Rangers referred to by the animal their Zords are based on, yet the show only had Red, Blue, and Yellow referred to in the traditional color designation.
My assumption would be them being scared of calling RJ a purple ranger, but then they just decided to keep it consistent with the other 4 extra rangers and just left it as colours with the first 3
I always kind if wish they called them Tiger, Cheetah, and Jaguar rangers tbh. Thought it would have been unique.

Abarekiller is a 6th ranger due to abarepink What about dekamaster or gosei green or jarrod and cameille

X1 Mask; The unofficial first sixth ranger, Only real problem is that I agree that it fits more in line with Battle Fever J than Maskman.
Dragonranger/MMPR Green: The OG sixth ranger, and certainly the baseline for all Sixth rangers to follow.
Kibaranger/MMPR White: A really cool White/gold contrast, also in the context of MMPR; It works as as an evolution of the Green ranger suit.
Kingranger/Zeo Gold: Firstly, I still do a double take on the fact that he's technically classiified as a Black Ranger in Ohranger. Otherwise it's a cool suit, really fits the ancient/regal vibes.
White Racer:IDK if she counts, but screw it I'm putting her in here anyways! The idea of Magical Girl as a Sixth Ranger is just hilariosu, and just par for the course for the madcap insanity of Carranger.
VRV Master/Phantom Ranger: True to his name, he certainly has this mysterious phantom like prescence to him. Also, the Phantom Ranger arc was the highlight of Turbo.
Mega Silver/Silver Space Ranger: A basic design, but it makes sense given that it's basically a prototype of the core five.
Black Knight/Magna Defender: Very cool, a great black suit.
Titanium Ranger: Very simple, but otherwise pretty great for an American made ranger.
Time Fire/Quantum Ranger: Our first Red Sixth ranger, again it has that prototype feel to the suit. Also Both Eric and Naoto are absolute chadded characters.
GaoSilver/Wild Force Lunar Wolf: Like the rest of the Wild Force suits, it has that very savage aspect to it.
Shurikenger/Green Samurai Ranger: It has a gimick with the Fire mode, but otherwise it feels rather basic compaired to the others.
Abarekiller/Dino thunder White: That fierce jagged energy to it, for a White ranger suit, it still manage to radiate Black Air Force energy.
Dekabreak/SPD Omega Ranger: Very sleek, very elite. I also like how it has the Roman Numeral VI contrast to the others Arabic numerals.
Magi Shine/Solaris Knight: Really regal, really magestic.
Boukensilver/Mercury Ranger: I like the more metallic vibe to it.(Although I could do without the shoulder sirens)
Geki Chopper/Jungle Fury Rhino Ranger: Really like the Karate gi style of his suit compaired to the core 3's track suit design.
Go-On Wings/Ranger operator series Gold and Silver: Very sleek, and very aerodynamic.
Shinken Gold/Samurai Gold: A very standard looking Sixth Ranger suit. A bit of a downgrade from Magishine.
Gosei Knight/Robo Knight: Very sleek, very cool for both his humanoid and Zord modes.
Gokai Silver/Super Megaforce Silver: It's cool that the top of his helmet, and visor give the appearence of a bandanna and sunglasses.
Beat and Stag Busters/Gold And Silver Grid battleforce rangers: Very sleek, Certainly up there with Kabuto and Gattack for best beetle-themed toku suits.
Kyoryu Gold/Dino Charge Gold: A very solid suit, very unique that we gave a Pteranadon to the Sixth ranger this time around.
ToQ6: Really digging the construction worker vibes on his suit, also the helmet also looks very Dinosaur-esque.
StarNinger/Ninja Steel gold: It's a cowboy ninja, what's not to love?!
Zyuoh the World: It's a cool suit with a cool gimmick.(A real shame that Misao is such a pathetic Weenie!)
Houou Soldier: Like time fire, it's cool for a Red sixth ranger.(Even though he's tecnically the 12th, but that's just semantics.)
Lupin/Patren X: I like the dual motieff, fits for a double agent.
Ryuusoul gold/Dino Fury gold: Feels like a diet Kyoryu Gold tbh.
Cosmic Fury Zenith Ranger: Again, IDK if he counts, but still; it's itneresting how they basically took the concept of Leo red orion, and basically made it into a seperate entity for Zayto.
Kiramai Silver: Very dazzling, Certainly has the Gogglehead seal of approval. Reminds me a bit of Wizard's infinity style.
Twokaiser: It may be a repaint of Gokai Red, but like Kamen Rider Legend, that still doesn't detract from the style!
Don Dragoku/Torabolt: Really love the Sun Wukong vibes of his suit.
Spider Kimonos: A very unique suit, a breath of fresh air after a 13 years worth of Gold and Silver rangers. Really dig the Anti Venom vibes.
Boon Violet: It's a great suit with a cool F1 Racer vibe.
For me the best 6th Ranger Suit is Bouken Silver. I might be part dragon because I like shiny things and if there’s one thing Bouken Silver is, it’s shiny! I am still mad at how Dino Fury and Cosmic Fury Gold weren’t even gold most of the time! He was like more of a creamy yellow!

Apparently not officially, but you are free to count them if you want, it really doesn't matter.
Patoren/lupin X always seemed mixed to me. Like silver had a protective vest which would be like a SWAT version of police, but it was the robbers suit. Then gold had the long coat, which is more in line with a criminal and an extension of the capes, but it was the police suit.

As you said, a good Sixth Ranger design stands out on its own but also looks right when posing with the core team. It’s a hard thing to balance, but most shows get it right. BUT, it’s also not a hard rule. The early Sixths were more minor deviations from the core team yet they have some of the best designs. On the other end of the spectrum, Magna Defender shares only a few design elements with the Galaxy Rangers but never looks truly out of place (though I imagine there’s a reason he/Black Knight are usually off to the side in group shots instead of standing directly beside Red. Some real Tuxedo Mask energy with them). Dino Thunder White might be my favorite Sixth Ranger as well. It’s the perfect look for a villain or a hero and works as a great inversion of DT Red’s suit.
