Marvellous piece of acting and in the end a heart-rending story. Like Beatrix Potter, Louis found love but was not long to enjoy it. His compulsive artistic output can be seen as a tribute to the absolute centrality of love to the human psyche.
Knowing the way he almost swindled himself into poverty, if these were mine I honestly wouldn't know what to do with them. Giving them to a museum is one thing, but selling to spend the profit of what I originally paid for them would feel (to/for me) like a further smack to his face. Whoever said it, said it well indeed ... "ignorance is bliss".
This owner didn’t swindle Louis Wain. His grandmother picked up a sketch which he inherited. That sketch inspired him to collect more of Wain’s art, and to learn about his life. He’s not some millionaire exploiting an employee. He obviously cares about the art and the idea of £30,000 is very exciting to him but he’s not planning to sell right away. I hope he held on til now, when that art will be much higher in value, so he can make his life and the lives of others easier. If he chooses to make a donation to a mental health advocacy group, that would be a lovely idea - but none of our business
These originals are awesome, criminally undervalued in this video tho :'(
Way undervalued even for 10 years ago
I dont think so
This video just illustrates to me how little people have been valuing Louis Wain’s life and works until this film finally came out. Criminal.
I hope Louis’s work today is even more valuable his artwork was fantastic!
Benedict Cumberbatch is coming out with a movie based on Louis Wain's life this year. Definitely plan on going to see it. 9/24/21

It was very very very good!
Charming collection! Thank you 😊
I love the one that is described as disturbing. Its lovely.
Both of these guys were frustrating to watch.

@@mariag.8242 Very well put. I agree.
Now with the new film, I would bet they are worth double or even triple that.
Great upload about an amazing artist.
Well worth watching.
I would love to own some of Louis Wain's original art, shame it's just prints etc.
£200!? It's gone up since then, i've seen smaller genuine ones at £2,000.
The owner acts rather bemused at the prices he was told.
Peter! :3
smart investor.
Doubtful you're going to find it. I've never seen a scan of that one ever and I've looked through countless websites and have 3 books on him.
Or else maybe he was portraying how animals feel about (some) humans.
