At 31:38 when he said “weirdoism” I literally laughed out loud. What a perfect word to describe much of our country. I WILL be using that. Thanks for this, was a great conversation. Gonna have to check home out.
The line between historic premill and dispensational premill isnt simple and clear cut. For one thing there are different forms of historic premill and different forms of dispensationalism. The early church had a more allegorical premill (Epistle of Barnabas) and a more literal form (Papais/asiatic school). Progressive dispensationalism looks a lot like certain kinds of historic premill.
There are two clear markers between the 2. PreTribulationism and the strict Church/Israel distinction that necessitates pretrib. A HP may allow the possibility of some form of National Restoration for Israel. But it will not be a driver. And it isn't because Israel gets special privilege in the Millenium. HP has no room for pretribulationism. It's not Biblical. And the Early Church thought it was in that period. So there's no Historic grounds for saying the people of God will not be persecuted by the enemy.
@shawngillogly6873 okay, on that note can a post-trib believer be considered a dispensationalist? Would some of them consider themselves dispensational?
@shawngillogly6873 but can a dispensationalist be pre-trib, mid-trib, pre-wrath, or post-trib? Or are dispensationalists only pre-trib? We've got to narrow in on what we perceive as the problem with the system. I'm a leaky dispensationalist myself trying to make sense of the issues. When we talk about dispensationalism with the broadest brush possible, there are points associated with I agree with it, and others I don't. So what's the main problem with it in your opinion? Future for Israel? Pre-Tribulationism? John Nelson Darby? The Left Behind novels? We got to narrow in on the problem, and I agree there are some, maybe more than I think. But the broad dismissing doesn't help

@@torcoffee2747 Pre-Wrath exists. Mid-Trib is pretty much the same. But in both cases, they still want to cut the days short.
