Her book is absolutely amazing. I have already sent 20+ copies of this book family, friends, and pastors. This book is that important. How important is it? Just look at all the people trying desperately to discredit her. They know how much damage this book can do their evil agenda and they are willing to do whatever it takes to prevent that. It's no surprise that people are outright lying about her.
If you love Jesus, you'll purge the heretics, wishy-washy preachers and theologically vacuous worship music from your church and exegetically preach the whole council of God for the glory of Jesus Christ and the sanctification of the faithful.
I have read SOOO many of Megan’s articles in WORLD. Thank you for all these amazing interviews.
Curious, do you still subscribe to World Mag?
Hey, Keith
I know you may have already, but I would highly recommend watching Dr. Ortlund’s videos in response to Megan Basham. I think they’re important.
It’s telling that ortlund only cares about defending himself rather than the address the dumpster fire of corruption so obvious
Good program I just got the book. Thanks Megan for your expertise and courage...
Expertise?!? Sorry, I had to throw up a little bit when I heard that... 😂
Loved the skit at the start 😂
Best interview. Thanks for having this conversation.
Excellent. So thankful for such a Godly young woman.
Just going through that “just stop it” (14:00min) realization myself in the last 10 days and I come here and listen to this… amazing! Thank you both!
I've been waiting for interviews with this young lady. This is the first. Congrats on that catch Keith.
Labeling someone conspiracy a theorist is the time honored way to dismiss unpopular revelations. History has proven that unpopular opinions often become generally recognized facts.
Excellent comment.
Greetings from Westwood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee!
That was a fantastic interview. Thanks to both of you. I'll definitely look for Shepherds for Sale when it comes out.
Best intro yet! Even if this one is NOT filmed in front of a live studio audience.
Wow, Pastor Keith you have great guests and super interesting interviews. Bravo sir. 👏
Terrific interview, Keith! Thank you Megan, for your courage and scholarship to address this critical issue. Stay the Course.
"He's not like most Calvinists, he's nice!" LOL
But with superior theology!
@@LFDNCNot ‘but’…’and’…. As in ‘And with superior theology’…
Opening bit was hilarious!
This episode was definitely worth getting the thumbs up button three times 😂 perhaps five.
52:22 Isn't that how pastors were recognized, mentored, and trained for hundreds of years in the church? Why did we instead decide to let institutions determine who is suitable and train those who will be pastors? It seems that GPA matters more in these days than character. I'm not anti-seminary; I am anti-not-qualified-in-the-first-place.
Yep, and that's my point. There is a place for higher education. But ministry training should be done in the context of the local church. Going straight from a graduation ceremony to a pulpit is often a recipe for problems.
@@ConversationswithaCalvinistmy church has an evening service and a few interns along with several pastors. I’ve been saying that the Sunday night service should preached by the interns all the time.
There's a theme song?! Hahahahahaha. Best theme song.
If you love Jesus, you're gonna have Megan Basham on YourCalvinist (Podcast). !!
One of the most important things Megan said was that she had the power to stop sinning as a "new creation." This is fundamental to the Christian faith. Without being "born again" we have no power to truly obey Christ. "Whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Rom. 14:23). We must be born again by the Spirit of God - something we cannot do ourselves. It is a gift of God, not by works so that no one may boast! Praise the Lord for his grace.
Thoughts on the misrepresentation of Dr. Ortland?
More or less the same thoughts I have about the moon landing(s) being fake.
She didn't.
I love the bit in the beginning!
Saw Megan interview with Senior sweater vest guy DW. Good to see her here with junior sweater vest guy.😂😂
I appreciate Megan Basham's work, however, she really needs to publicly retract her false accusations made against Gavin Ortlund in the book. Please see his video correcting the record.
Yes!
💯
Yep. My bet is she won't though. I hope I'm wrong.
What exactly did she say specifically, and where in the book and what page?
@@idahardy4052 One of the simplest examples is on Page 26 where she says, "To not accept that consensus, [Ortlund] says is to buy into 'conspiracy and hoax'; it is a failure to 'take a responsible posture' as a Christian."
I think the "conspiracy" and hoax accusation could go either way, but the "failure to 'take a responsible posture' as a Christian" part is not accurate. That is pulled from the section where he is says multiple times that if you are going to choose to go against the consensus, it should be on the basis of your *own* research into the topic and not simply because everyone you know denies climate change. He's just encouraging people to look into it for themselves, and says that to take on a second hand opinion is not a "responsible posture". He did not say that to research the topic and subsequently decide that climate change science is not accurate is irresponsible.
In addition, Megan's tone in discussing his "style of presentation" is surprisingly snarky.
I don't necessarily agree with Gavin's view on climate science. And I do agree with many of the issues in the book and share the concern that well funded leftist pressure is being put on our churches. We need to be aware of this. But that doesn't justify shoe-horning the evidence against a brother to make it fit well into the chapter. We should show more respect for other believers in the body of Christ.
It would be awesome if you would have Dr. Gregory P. Shulz (author of Anatomy of an Implosion), the guy that got punished for whistleblowing with the woke stuff being brought into Lutheran Universities.
Still support her Keith?
I agreed with much of her book, but her treatment of Gavin Ortlund was simply wrong.
Yes, and her behavior towards Gavin on X (twitter) has been horrible too.
@@nathanleameister7179 we live in culturally crazy times... to some extent her error is the book, while unprofessional, is understandable... but her following behavior, on e confronted, has demonstrated a deeply problematic lack of ethics and a moral blindness.
She wants to die on this hill, so to speak, despite being obviously wrong about Gavin.
And her fans are lotergoing around calling Gavin a "sellout", with zero proof.
Simply disgusting.
@@FancieRay Megan is a menace and Gavin wasn't her first target. She targets any and every Christian who demonstrates the fruits of the spirit.
“Treatment of Ortlund,” “misrepresentation,” “problematic.” It’s like you’re all reading from a script. A script that conveniently doesn’t expound on any of the claims you’re making.
@@ajclarke9189 what word would you prefer to "misrepresent" , would you prefer stronger words? Treatment... what exactly is the matter with that? This isn't a script its basic English. What a nonsense complaint. It's impossible to take such a complaint seriously. You sound like those lefties who think ok hand gestures mean white power. Look he said "problematic!" He must be in with the joooooz!!! 🙄
Just started the video. Why do I feel like she’s going to describe elevation perfectly without even knowing who they are?
Suggestion: You should interview Brian and Lexi Sauve (Bright Hearth podcast).
"He's not like most calvinists, he's nice."
Here's a clue, do NOT rely on the seminaries to correct the "drift" to the left, they are just one of the many causes of the many causes for the "drift" to the left. We had a young pastor at our PCA church who
- clearly had been influenced by feminism
- introduced Hillsong music into the church
- was fully supportive of the formation of a men's reading group that to this day focuses on secular titles, rather than formulating a curriculum within the church to further train the men of the church to fulfill their Biblically defined roles
- preached half of Scripture ("church unity" without once ever mentioning any form of discernment,
- etc.
Again, this was in a PCA church.
Best interview yet!
The Big Eva Megachurch, Multiplex, and Mini Mall (that's an important one folks: Mini Mall) is no sell out!!
Incidentally I just bought a new copy of the NYT best seller "Your Prosperity Now". Highly recommend! 🙏
I also think Conservatives do the same things as liberals. She gives a weak comparison. Some conservatives do it but are against climate change and not for it. I am conservative and I do not think conservatives do it as much. But there are examples of conservatives taking conservative politics and using that as a measuring stick for true theology. And I am not talking about abortion. But I have first hand knowledge (I lived through) conservatives doing it with their views on women. And not just women elders (which I am against) but whether women should work and other items.
Thank you for another Calvinist pastor podcast. We need more.
Keith, I really appreciate your ministry, but I have been listening to Gavin Ortland for a long time and she wildly misrepresented him in her book. For the sake of the truth, I implore you to publicly comment on it (the way she publically maligned him).
Everyone keeps acting like the “drift to the left” is something new. J. Gresham Machen had to defect from Princeton and start Westminster theological seminary for this exact reason. I’ll stick with his theologically sound work “Christianity and liberalism”.
Many churches are selling out, but doing it in different ways. It can be a solid calvinist reformed church, and still have blinders on. The under shepherd is supposed to be a watchman looking out for his flock. Being able to detect trouble or danger. I believe they've lost that ability, but why? I believe they're wrapped up in the trappings of doing church instead of seeking the Lord. Asking His counsel not that of the elders or presbytery.
Is Megan any relation to Don Basham, the 1970’s charismatic leader?
Try growing up 10 minutes from Arizona State University 😅😅😅, at the time it was great, but had many lasting effects!!!
'No moral equivalency between the political Right controlling evangelicals and those with a different view wanting to make their voice known as well. The Right is right.'
So, Ms. Basham has chosen a side in the debate and preaches to the choir, selling books in the process.
Oh, well. Don't muzzle the ox when it is at work.

I never thought a two minute bit before an interview could make me feel like I need a shower! Fantastic writing!
Megan sold her character and integrity for a book deal and Gavin Ortlund has the receipts.
The book could have been a good one and 90% of it is probably spot on, but unjust character assassination based on lies is just evil.
This is so well said.
Great interview.
But please, remove the cultural blinders and see the darkness and propaganda entertainment has brought to our body. It's not ' cool' or ok.
Do you mean entertainment overall or the specific materials we watch?
Love the intro! So excited for her book.
Keith, unfortunately, Megan's book misleads on Gavin Ortlund's position on climate change. It's great to have guests on your show, but for some reason she seems to have it out for Gavin. She has mis-stated his views and when confronted, has doubled down. Her lack of integrity calls into question other claims in the book. Creeping secularization in the churches is a real issue, but slandering others undermines her whole effort. My own opinion is that Broadside Publishing (a division of HarperCollins) should recall the book. They made a mistake by publishing this poorly researched and poorly edited book.
Receipts, please.
I have used that Eddie joke for years as well! 😂
Looking forward to listening in full. In the meantime, the beginning portion was hilarious.
Hip hip hazzah, you asked my twitter question at the 49 min mark! awesome, thanks.
This is aging like Milk after her treatment of Ortlund is coming to light.
I totally agree.
Keith has a history of platforming wolves.
By “treatment of Ortlund,” I’m assuming you mean quoting him and then pointing out that he was moralizing a particular stance on the issue. If it’s something more nefarious than that, by all means, elaborate.
If you want an in-depth analysis, check out theologian Chris Date. He agrees with the premise of Megan’s book and was excited to read it when he ordered it but has concerns. As far from big Eva as possible.
STOP IT!!! -Bob Newhart
Love these two!! 🤣🤣
Keith, AMEN AND AMEN as to your view of training up pastors in n the local church!!!
Also I can help you out with not picking on First Baptist Jerkwater Georgia, you can use First Baptist Bowlegs Oklahoma, you have my permission because I’m actually the Pastor 😂
Oh wow, I LOVE that name brother! I’ll have to remember to mention that in a video :)
Justice for Dr. Ortlund!
It’s just bizarre how the comments section on every podcast featuring Megan’s important book is filled with people defending a certain RUclips pastor by attacking Megan, personally.
The lady had done her homework.
Yep. Seems organized.
That the best conversion story I've ever heard.
Yup, that one even topped Saul’s conversion on the road to Damascus 😂
Just joking, her testimony was very good
I gotta say I never usually stay away from your videos but this one I gotta pass on. She is a liar in her book with slander and not sure it’s good for her to be writing about what other Christian men should be doing. She should be silent but steer young woman close to her in the right direction. The more I learn about her the more bad I learn.
Gavin is misinformed on CC and holds to a false mini flood view but he’s not a sell out. Including Gavin hurt Meghan’s credibility.
Isnt that Big evas thing ?? To sell out ..
Oddly she's a big fan of big eva institutional leaders like Jmac and Voddie who are both very successful at selling their brand of evangelicalism... vs smaller, more humble leaders like Gavin Ortlund, who she calls a sellout, over 1 issue he nearly never talks about, without any advocacy or overlap with doctrine, and for which he's divided no one, made no money on and never touched again... but he's the sellout? She's making that issue and other political issues a litmus test of Christian orthodoxy, all via a book she sells, which is the very epitome of selling out.
It's awfully fishy to me.
@ravissary79 voddie and Jmac big eva??? What alternate universe you in ??
A RUclips add in the middle of the theme song. A horrid unfairness to Hans. Oh Patrick. This travesty shall not stand.
Haven't read the book, won't buy it. Justice for Ortlund!!!
Hilarious intro
Gavin's gang is out in force.
Is it a church or a social club for the self righteous?
My experience with elevation folks (I’m not calling them elevators) is that they’ve been duped. Steven Furtick has duped himself; he didn’t seem to start out like he is now.
@LFDNC I'd say Furtick has always been a wolf in sheep's clothing. Watch his "hey, haters" video from about 8 years ago.
@@carolberubee I saw that when he put it out, and he may always have been that way. I do remember elevation having a different reputation before it became what it is now. I never attended there and walked out of the one “service” I went to.
@LFDNC yeah, it makes you wonder if, the whole time, it had always been a matter of bait-and-switch. I just don't see how Furtick was ever a true shepherd and then turned into what he is now. It seems like the master plan was always to capture the "seekers," build a cult of personality, begin the gaslighting, then unleash the full agenda of Word of Faith/Eastern mysticism.
@@carolberubee it is entirely possible, the wolves are everywhere. The people of elevation are definitely captured and you can’t get a straight answer about what they like other than how charismatic furtick is.
Imagine god goes to all the trouble to make the universe. the birth and death of galaxies and stars. super novas and black holes. the development of life on earth. billions of lives and deaths. suffering and joy. dinosaurs. mammals. civilization. nations and wars. all of that to get to get to this...
😂
Is this a satire?
Check out Conversations that Matter for a good response to the claim that she's misrepresented Ortlund in her book...
I feel like once your a liberal you can convert to a conservative and if your a conservative you can’t really convert to a liberal (let me know if what you think pastor Keith ) (please reply)
Sort of. If you go from liberal to conservative, you won't go back. If you are a low information, cultural conservative it can certainly happen. Ask any parent who has lost a Christian kid to a liberal college.
@@YSLRD that’s very true
I’ve heard it said that everyone goes through phases. If you aren’t somewhat liberal when you’re young, you have no heart ❤️ . If you’re not conservative when you’re old, you have no brain. 🧠 :-)

Unpopular opinion - Voting for Biden is equal to voting for Trump in moral reprehensibility
Bollocks.
Stupid opinion too. As if killing babies is the same as saying immature things
@@roberttrevino62800 If that were the only marks on their scorecard, I'd be a Trump voter for sure. To try to boil it down to that as a pithy internet line is weak. To the best of my knowledge Biden did not incite a riot or sexually assault anyone. The OT treated abortion and rape the same way, death penalty.
@@RayRice-lr8vi “incite a riot” . That lets me know you are a progressive left wing Christian. You’re simply not informed and have not done the research yourself. You rely on the media to tell you what happened. Send me a video link where Donald Trump incited a riot. I’ll wait.

You've missed the story re: the young female on Biden's staff who, in the mid-1990s, accuses him of assault in a Capitol building corridor?
