Fantastic tutorial! And what a great song as well for learning guitar. 3-4 chords, but different shapes/triads, funk/reaggae strumming, arpeggiations….and a short melody line. Should be a core song to learn for intermediate players.
Nice. I like that you explained how to get the sound too. But there are things that I hear different in the original. The most important one is that they keep doing the palm muted b-f# also in the chorus.
Great job Desi! I never realized all the stuff going on in these guitar parts. Of course I never tried to dissect it that level anyway and I certainly don't have the ear that you have either. But very cool guitar parts, great job by you figuring them out and a great lesson on how to play it. You are an excellent teacher! Thank you!
Great video Desi ... I like how you stay in key and call the keys out ..it helps me understands my short comings ..also the use of triads of the chords ( I hope I got those right on utube) ..thanks for the walk through of the song. Excellent instruction great book .... I’m writing as I’m watching ...cause the flute is in C you play the relative minor Bb to harmonize..do I have that right...thanks for everything
If you're asking me which scale the flute is in, I'm not sure. I would say the same scale, B minor/D major, but I don't know if the flute is a transposed instrument or not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I believe the relative minor of C is Am. A natural is the 6th of the key of C. My piano teacher used teach me to count down 3 from the root note as well. Also Bb is not in the key of C. But maybe it's a mode? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't remember, and settings will differ from device to device. I don't pay attention to the number, I listen for the amount of gain to match what I'm trying to copy.
Hi Desi wonder if you would please do a guitar tutorial on the Michael Buble medley …. Fly me to the moon ,somebody to love ,just a gigolo much appreciated

Probably the best sounding and the most detailed tutorial ever made for this song. Mahalo
15:44 That's what i was looking for! Great!
My god that tone is AMAZING
When used right, the Kemper Profiling Amplifier is really a splendid piece of gear. And I'm a sucker for this 80s style chorused-out guitar tone.
Very authentic demonstration of this famous song sir . Thanks alot for sharing your knowledge on this song. GB

There are layers in the recording. I focused on the basic parts.
Wasn’t on my radar of songs I wanted to learn but just might give this one a whirl. Thanks Desi

Great lesson! Oh the 1980s. Who would have the wit to rhyme thunder with chunder nowadays?
Sheer brilliance
What did you have the gain set at? I set my around 4 on the vintage Marshall on amplitube 5 and got pretty close.
