I was lucky enough to see Colin perform and meet him after when he played at the Luton Hat Factory. Superb guy and fantastic to watch in a small venue.
These accounts bring to life these songs that have been such a tapestry of my memories. I particularly like that account of Ron sending you that tape of music ideas, how enchanting!
I've played this a couple of times at Open MIc's this summer in the UK( in this acoustic style) and the song is still so popular, so I added it to my busking set as well - It sort of stops people in their tracks done like this - Thanks Colin for writing such an amazing song.
Important for me too, that song. Colin, you nailed it. I imigrated from Switzerland and your song stuck with me right from the beginning. Im sure it wil live forever. Thank you for that song Colin.
Please Come to Phoenix for Winter, theres no snow here, and lots of FANS SCREAMING TO SEE YOU AGAIN! come on now.... lol... loved this video. Thx for the insight. Business as Usual was the first music I ever owned. I was around 8 or so. Still have that tape and case....thanks for signing it for me! Its sitting right here with a huge pic of you I took hanging on the wall next to it. Thx for everything. Your music soothes my soul. Thank you Colin.
Great to hear you explain the stories around these songs that I have listened to for the best part of nearly 40 years...40 bloody years, where did that go....😫
Wow! I didn't know the "Buying bred from a man in Brussels" verse has been based on a true story. :) Nice to know, every day is a school day. ;) Thank you for all this, Colin! Sometimes I wish the old band was still together, but I know that's not possible. :( Anyway, it's good to be here.
Great to hear this background history and love that you appreciate this beautiful country of ours. Love the whole story but you missed out the best bit that it made us so proud to be Australian when we won the Americas cup.
Thanks for postng Jimmy you old pirate. Love Jimmy Jay on 1510 AM wmex. Hope Ed and John will be at his show at South Shore Music Circus. Sawyer Street Cohasset, Ma. Nice to see Collin on Don's small stage. Hope Collin and family are enjoying their stay with us here on the East Coast.
Has your music changed because you live in Cuba maybe? We are so proud of you in Australia. I watched you with Julia Zemaris on your life story. I too came to Australia in 1973 at age 22. Cogee Beach from the depressed North of England and know what you mean. It was fabulous when I knew nothing of the political, story. Down Under and Down by the Sea was a new revelation after 3 years in South east London where I trained as a nurse. Wow that ocean that sand, that Sunburn! Owwweee! Come back to Perth and wow us one day after Covid, Pleases.
Interesting that Ron's parents were also immigrants;I never knew that. It's certainly enlightening to hear Colin's explanation of the song, which is pretty lighthearted on the surface but can be misinterpreted, much like Springsteen's "Born In The USA".Thanks for educating us,Colin!
Apropos educating, I wish Colin was my guitar teacher...well he could teach m.....no he can't teach me singing...that's an impossible mission! Even for him!

These videos are so enjoyable. Also, your back yard looks and sounds lovely!
That part from 3:15 on is really killing me. It looks easy, but it sounds like joy in a bottle.
Amazing, Thanks!
A songwriter's perspective. Thanks for sharing, Colin. It makes lockdown tolerable.

BRILLANT.👍👍👍
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your songs. I enjoy hearing about your creative process.
I love the talks as much as if not more than the songs themselves.
