I managed to build a great social media tool for my organization, and its working super great! we can keep adding features when needed, And having full control is what makes Airtable my favorite tool! its like creating my own super APP! Thanks so much for all the amazing information you give to us! I dont miss a video from you!
This is great and i’ve trying to use interface for crm base. I have question on “add record” in interface. So I have Opportunity table with linked record to account table. When I create interface to add record it uses a form. Problem is, when adding new opportunity through this form, i can only choose account that has been created but unable to create new account. This unlike if i just add record directly in the base as usual. Am I doing it wrong or is it known airtable interface limitation?
This is by design. You can solve this by adding two records through two forms, first creating a new account and then creating a new opportunity and linking it to the new account.
Gavin, thank you SO MUCH for helping me use Airtable for my business. I am confused about extensions/dashbaords vs interfaces. I wish I could plug an extension into an interface, but I don't know how to do that. Is is possible?
Extensions can't be inserted into an interface. Extensions are left over from early Airtable versions and interfaces are the future. In time, I suspect all extensions will be made redundant by interfaces. 🤞
Question: I have a complex database with 6+ tables with interrelated fields (projects - sections of projects - tasks - subtasks). I want to give the employee access to the "Subtasks" section, so that he can see only the subtasks of the projects to which he belongs. I found how to create it through the Interfaces functionality, but I faced the following problem: a large number of subtasks looks nice and clear in the airtable table, because there is a grouping there. So we have each subtask clearly structured. Instead, in Interfaces, I can only see a jumble of all the subtasks, which are not grouped in any way So the question is: how to organize the grouping of subtasks and Interfaces?
To assign a user to a table in Airtable, it asks me to grant them permission to the base. However, I only want to give them permission to interfaces and not to the table itself. I just want to assign them without granting base permissions in order to limit their view in interfaces. How can I do that?
Share the interface but not the database. To do this, make sure you are in the interface and access "Share" - when you select people to share it with, you'll be asked if you want to share access to the database, and make sure you toggle this off. Note that sharing access to an interface will add users to your plan and increase your bill with Airtable
@@GarethPronovost I'm having the same issue. If you add a collaborator it invites them to the entire base. Is there a way to make them a collaborator of just the interface?
My problem is we have 12+ users. At the moment, they have their own views. I want them all to use one Interface (with field visability etc sorted out by me). However, when a someone applies a filter to an Interface, the next person sees that filtered view. Is there a way to always 're-set' the interface for next user, or do I have to disallowing sorting and any filtering (apart from 'is current user')
God it's terrible. I just want my data from the form I created with question 1 to 4 all viewed as graphics. It only creates the first question. I hate a software that is hard to navigate.

Thanks for this, got me over the first hurdle, and I quickly put my interface together. 😍
Glad to hear it!
You've helped so many of us venture into so many different fields with these lessons. Thank you and bless you, Gareth! You're legit a hero 🏆

Very helpful video. As always. Thanks, Gareth!
Thanks for watching!
Great video, thank you! Just a quick question about your setup: What Screen-Recording tools are you using?
Camtasia is the software that captures my screen and sound. I have a separate camera on a tripod for the talking head element

@@GarethPronovost Thank you for clarifying.
How does one duplicate a record in the list view? Or List interface?
You can right click and duplicate in interfaces now

Depends on the element you added. Grid or list elements would work here and allow for grouping!

Also, even just sharing the interface to anyone without access to the data is a Pro feature. Seems a bit odd
@@volkswurst2208 I've not experience that. I've shared several interfaces from free plans, unless this is a new update.

Solved my own problem I think - one user does not affect another's filters! Thanks for videos btw, they are very helpful

google forms might be best for you then
Very good ! I thought of a tool for opening tickets. service desk. it would be very good. 😁😁
