@@CinemaTherapyShow I just wanna say, I really enjoy both of your analysis, and especially the enthusiasm for the movie. It's my most favorite film ever.
I heard this joke from a Jewish fan of the movie: "Die Hard is a movie about a man waging guerilla warfare against an occupying force with the aid of resources that last far longer than they should. Therefore Die Hard is technically a Hanukkah movie."
I also like that the female lead and the action hero already had a relationship before so he wasn't just overcoming a feat and claiming her as a prize like you see in so many other action movies.
Women are usually only viewed as tough by exhibiting traditionally male traits. Holly calmly discussing her feelings, caring for her coworkers & using Generro to protect her husband are awesome displays of feminine strength.
The first Wonder Woman was like that also. She was a fierce warrior but showed compassion to everyone she encountered, and she fought only to protect other people. She showed a lot of feminine qualities and she carried herself with confidence. She didn't have to act like a man. I love Black Widow but Wonder Woman had the godlike super strength to kick a 200 point man through a brick wall. Natasha did not. And I don't mean to pick on her, all the female face kickers are doing it.
I agree. It’s unfortunate that writers, have dialed strong women characters too far in one direction, and they now encompass all of the toxic traits that we hate about toxic male characters.
When I first got married, my mom told me, "Honey, all those little habits of his that you find so endearing now? Yeah, there will come a time when you'll want to kill him for them. Know that, prepare for it, and you'll be fine.". Married 35 years in March. She was absolutely right.
@@adarateranroldan for me, it started with cultivating patience,. Yeah, he does things that make me want to scream, but I KNOW I make him want to scream from time to time, so maybe I should lighten up and get over myself. The other thing was -- and this sounds so cliche -- was communication. I can live with being called a raging *itch if you at least tell me why, and give me a chance to resolve it. (Note:. Husband never calls me a *itch, because my usual response is, "Yeah. So?") ETA:. Forgot a biggie. I'm not right all the time. He's right, too (sometimes). In the DVD special features, one of the screenwriters said that he found the heart of Die Hard one night after he had a fight with his wife. It was a real bad one, he stormed out of the house and went for a drive. While he was on the highway, he was suddenly confronted with an intact refrigerator box in the middle of his lane. He couldn't get over to go around it and it looked like the fridge could still be in the box. So he decided to gun it, increase the chance of his car just demolishing the the fridge and hopefully he'd live. Hits the box, it's empty. He pulls over shaking and thinking about how he almost died, then goes to call his wife because all he could think, over and over, was, "what if I died and didn't tell her I'm sorry?" He realized that was McClane's driving force beyond the love of Holly and wanting her to be safe, he couldn't let one of them die without telling her he was sorry.
That is insane and yet lovely at the same time. To think that box was just there at the perfect time to not only give him an incentive to apologize to his wife but also the idea for one of the most popular movies from the late 1980's.
I love seeing grown men give ecstatic fangirl screams about how much they love Die Hard - it's so wholesome. Goddamnit, more adults should scream about how much they love the things they love! Rejoice in what gives you joy, fully and unapologetically! It feels good.
@@CinemaTherapyShow I know I do! And it definitely helps me! Then again, I have the passion of autism combined with the lack of inhibition due to ADHD... so it's easy for me to say XD But yeah you guys are just so awesome and positive, I love every video from this channel
The thing I like most about John McClain is that he's vulnerable. Physically, I mean. He's not "tis but a flesh wound" like Arnold, or Lundgren, or Linda Hamilton - he's actually in pain, and pushes through despite it.
I'm not much on gung-ho action heroes, so Die Hard was a very pleasant surprise; he's the first leading man I've seen who gets really hurt and doesn't brush it off as "just a scratch"; he gets afraid and shows it; no stiff-upper-lip stoicism; no brooding Manliness. He's a normal person in an abnormal situation.
@Tzisorey Tigerwuf - the suits would water it down so much that it'd be completely wishy-washy: it'd have to tick all the "inclusive" boxes and bring in characters whose only reason to be in the film would be to tick that particular box. In any case, trying to remake a classic never works: have you seen the "new improved" Wicker Man or Italian Job? They should have learned by now that it's almost impossible to improve on the original unless the original was very, very bad.
There’s something so delightfully heartwarming about two adult men channeling their inner eight year old. Not that I’d let an eight year old watch this movie.
The scene where Holly is negotiating with Hans is great for all the reasons you two put forward, but also one other reason: a lot of action movies tend to put the female lead in a dangerous situation, but don't really give her a lot of character beyond 'damsel in distress that the hero must save'. If the film didn't add this scene, which shows off what kind of person Holly is, it would be harder to care about whether or not she and John mend their relationship at all, because who is she beyond the estranged wife of the male lead? The negotiation scene shows that she's tough, intelligent, level-headed and capable, and (hopefully) seeing all those things makes the audience look at John and go, 'this woman is amazing, you really need to fix this because you are lucky to have her'. It makes their reconciliation all the sweeter, knowing that these two badasses really do fit well with each other for reasons beyond 'the scriptwriter said so'.
And then there's Schwarzenegger's 'Commando,' where his kidnapped daughter is in the process of escaping from the bad guys' stronghold by the time he shows up and the female lead stuns Schwarzenegger's character by figuring out how to work the bazooka by "reading the instructions." (Schwarzenegger's face in that scene just *screams,* "there are instructions?")
Not really sure of her positive characteristics or why John even likes her. The movie doesn't indicate she's a good mother. She's argumentative and selfish. What she really brings to the table of the relationship isn't really explored well in this movie. I guess she can provide a big house with her salary and a place for a protector willing to break every bone to save 30 civilians? She also cares about people enough to risk her life when she's promoted to the leadership position? True - she's shown to be argumentative and a risk taker - and she wasn't doing this naturally before the boss was killed. She even tried to encourage the boss to hide who he was initially.
When in a hostage situation, it is a very bad idea to take a leadership role or to draw attention to yourself in any way. Now, you can take that hit for others, but it will reduce the chances YOU make it out alive. Especially when the hostage takers look for someone to hurt.
Coincidentally, Die Hard is playing at our local drive-in, and my husband and I went to see it. Such a great movie. This is from its IMDB trivia page: "Jeb Stuart was having difficulty writing the screenplay until he had a near-death experience while driving at night in Los Angeles after a fight with his wife. He was driving behind a truck carrying refrigerators, and one of the fridge boxes fell out of the truck. Luckily for him, the box was empty. He realized that if he had died, he wouldn't have been able to apologize to his wife. This inspired him to give clear motivations to John McClane and Holly's characters: they wanted to reunite with each other after having a fight."
Could you two do a analysis on the 1st How to train your Dragon ? The relationship between hiccup and his dad struck a cord with me and I want to know how realistic the turnaround of their dynamic was at the end of the movie.
Honestly i think the review should be for all three movies, idk i just feel like there’s a lot more to their relationships that’s explored in the other movies. but i agree
I think there are many things to pick apart in this trilogy, it is one of my favorite things of all time I’d be ecstatic to see them at least do one video💕
Agreed. Stoick gets a really bad rap in the fandom, which is just heartbreaking to me because Stoick reminds me so much of my own dad. Stubborn, most emotions come out looking like anger, loud, a bit clueless on the whole 'parenting' thing but really *really* wants to get it right, *stubborn* ... Stoick's *not* abusive or even nearly as disappointed as Hiccup thinks, he has no idea how to deal with Hiccup. He's a single parent, too! Just imagine being chief of a viking village. You're mayor, sheriff, judge, priest, and general all rolled into one. Now imagine trying to raise a kid *on your own* while doing all that. And making sure the village survives semi-regular dragon attacks. And making sure your son survives semi-regular dragon attacks. And making sure the village survives *your son.* My dad and I are pretty lucky in that we share a lot of the same interests and we have Mom to moderate for us when we butt heads. Hiccup and Stoick don't have that. A neat parallel between my life and Hiccup's life is when I told Dad that I thought Shakespeare was boring. Dad kinda flipped out, took me up to his library, shoved this *tome* at me, and told me to read it. The complete works of Shakespeare in one book. Binding over a foot long. Onion-skin paper. A week later, he asked me how it was going and I hesitantly admitted that I had almost gotten through the first page, which was mainly just a character list. Dad nearly went nuclear before Mom pulled him back and reminded him that I was *fourteen* and *not him.* Then proceeded to explain how bad public school was at introducing classics to kids and suggested starting with an abridged version. That's basically Stoick shoving a clearly over-sized axe into Hiccup's arms and telling the kid to fight dragons without first teaching him the basics of handling weapons. Only there's no Mom there to pull Stoick aside and give him a reality check. Has anyone even *tried* teaching Hiccup how to fight before the first movie? I get the distinct impression that most of his clumsiness is more nerves and trying to do things right-handed than anything else. I also suspect that people wouldn't be so harsh on him for being 'weak' (which he most definitely isn't for someone his size) if his dad wasn't the biggest, strongest viking around.
Karl, in real life, was a top Russian Ballet dancer alongside Mikhael Baryshnikov. He did all his own stunts in this and the other movies he was in. He defected in 1979 and died in 1995. RIP
When you talked about how he respected her choice so she respected them, it reminded me of a completely different scenario where I was an extreme hoarder as a child, and my mom would try to get me to throw it all away and I never would, but then when we were cleaning one time, she said she wasn't going to make me get rid of any of it, it just needed to be cleaned up. All of the sudden, it was so much easier to throw it all away, and that's what I did.
Yup! Because you hoarded to feel “in control” when you didn’t feel in control of your life… Your mom pressuring you to throw it all away made you panic & feel even less in control… But when she stopped pressuring you & told you to “just clean it up”, she gave you the power & control to make your own decisions! That’s wonderful!
Hmmm, I wonder if this would work on my mom. She’s not an extreme hoarder, but I repeatedly clean things up and make room, (bc she asks me too and bc our apartment is very small), but then she over and over and OVER again, refills the space with things she doesn’t need.
one of the things that sets this and other great action movies apart is that the goal of the protagonist isn't to kill the bad guys or stop some great crime. His goal is to fix his relationship and get back with his family.
He is his adopted son through pillaging, What Odin refers to as his "blue ice baby" (Loki being an abandoned child of ice giants). So his son yes, but not in the traditional means. Loki, learning this in adult hood, twists Odin's intentions as keeping Loki as an artifact.
whispers: Christmas movie...the producer and writer deliberately set this blockbuster at Christmas because they wanted to have an action Christmas Movie.....so it is, indeed, a holiday movie.
@@julietardos5044 It did. But if I create something, I get the rights to say what that thing is. The producer and writer call it a Christmas movie, it has holiday themes, therefore it is an action Christmas movie.
@@julietardos5044 Also, there are movies that are Christmas movies that were released in summer. Miracle of 34th St was released in June. So, the date of release does not a Christmas movie make.
@@julietardos5044 What I meant by saying "set this blockbuster at Christmas" was that they put the time and setting at Christmas, in case that was the confusion. But a movie released in July can very well be a Christmas movie. And as there are movies that have been released in July and are Christmas movies, there's no real need to point out when it was released...

The hug between John McClane and Sgt Powell is the most emotional scene in the movie. The real love scene! I'm surprised Alan isnt crying for the bromance
I stumbled on your “Inside Out” video a few days ago, and I am hooked! It's both very therapeutic and real. I appreciate the reactions, interpretations, and analysis y'all have provided. Thank you for doing this! You gained another follower and fan.
same! each video is super insightful and entertaining, I was worried inside out would be the only good one because it's immediately relevant but by god, they find a way.
One thing I've always felt this movie does better than anything else I've seen in fiction is the estranged couple that gets back together. In most other stories, the estranged couple is so lovey-dovey you can't believe they would ever be estranged, or they're fighting so much you can't believe they'd ever get back together. Here, I was able to believe that this couple had some problems, but despite these problems, they still love each other.
And both performances are super strong that you really get a sense of history, with a small exchange feeling like it carries the weight of so many emotions and so much regret
Die Hard IS a Christmas movie. My in-laws pushed back for many years because we all got to watch our favorite xmas movie on the eve and day of xmas. Most of them watched things like Rudolph or Muppets, but now every year they accept me watching Die Hard. BOOM, tradition started!
It might be a ploy to refuse becoming leverage, but Holly's insistence of using her maiden name also fits into her taking care of herself and establishing herself as a full person without John. She too is a badass who is working to save those people.
Yeah, they're both brave and resourceful people who step up to save the others, just in different ways. Maybe their marriage fails because they're very alike in character, just channel it into different skills/solutions?
@@helenl3193 It seems like John mistakes her independence for a lack of affection, that the more independent she is, the more it threatens their relationship. One thing that’s great about the movie is it shows how these two headstrong, stubborn, independent people can learn to reconcile! Their similarities make it difficult, but can also be their strengths!
Especially the entire fat Thor sequence. I thought the depression came across as real as the denial and I thought it was awesome that they didn't buff him up again for the final scene. but like the parent post said... the entire arc from the first movie.
I have a personal tradition where every Christmas I watch Die Hard. I don't care about what people say if it's a "Christmas Movie" or not, but I love it and it's my lil' thing to do every year. Either with someone or on my own, it always gets played.
Ik you get a lot of video suggestions, My suggestion is The Princess Bride, I grew up with that movie and I've always wondered if Wesley and Buttercups relationship is actually perfect.
I love TPB. I've seen it many times. But Wesley and Buttercup barely know each other. Plus, he threatens to hit her. In the book, he actually does hit her. And she completely exemplifies the damsel in distress, never helping herself or the group (in the movie--in the book she helps the group once). I think it's the one-liners that make this movie so great. And the fencing, of course.
@@julietardos5044 It's true that Westley and Buttercup barely knew each other on a personal level but the only reason Buttercup says she loves Westley is when she gets jealous of The Count's handmaid. And you also have to keep in mind that the book was written in the 70s so it's not going to be the most progressive thing ever. But we can both agree that the movie is great even if lots of things are unrealistic; that's the fun of it.
Those action breaks had me wheeze-laughing. 🤣 Also: I love that John actually is afraid to die, as we see when he mutters, "Please, God, don't let me die" toward the end. But he's out there giving his all anyway. True courage.

One of the funniest bits in Die Hard for me is when Hans is listing all his demands by freeing certain political groups. When it came to "Asian Dawn", his 2nd in command, Karl, mouthed silently surprised and confused the name of the group, Hans quickly said, " I read them in Time Magazine".

I would love an analysis on the Hunger Games! You just did Twilight, please dive into the young adult novel that won’t make you cringe ( too hard)! Maybe the psychology behind the tributes and how the capitol manipulates the tributes to kill each other.
@@CinemaTherapyShow This may be an unpopular opinion, but I found the relationship dynamic in that series even more uncomfortable than Twilight. This is especially clear in the book while the movie compensates by making her time with the hunter slightly more dramatized. She seems to have no clear romantic attachment to the hunter despite this. Her flashbacks and even actions with the baker seem to instead emphasize that relationship instead. The ending of course reveals that she had been stringing the baker and his real feelings all along for the sake of both of them surviving in an otherwise impossible situation, by building a false narrative and forcing the show with public opinion. The only conclusion that makes sense to me is that she was biding her time with the Hunter. She knew that he viewed her as family and not in a romantic light (yet). And that is what defines Katniss to me. She is patient and manipulative. She is held up as this icon of female strength, but she is willing to go beyond morals for the sake of survival and protecting those she deems important. It’s an intelligent and almost cold-blooded perspective. The book and movie do not hide events that reveal her psychological state, but they also never truly take off the rose coloured glasses. I have to wonder... who is Katniss really once the hero vaneer is peeled away? What is healthy or unhealthy about these relationships? My favorite character was of course Rue. I think ultimately Katniss would have killed either Rue or the baker or both if Rue had not died early if they were a real stumbling block to her survival. Her risks are just... so calculated. Looking forward to your take on hunger games one day regardless!
@@AnonymousPiLover 'the ending reveales' i presume we've watched the same Hunger Games so I don't know how you could say that bc it was super obvious she faked her love for Peeta. I mean, he confessed his love and she threatened him
Funny how you mentioned Home Alone. Every time I rewatch it the family dynamics at the beginning bugs me. Why are they all so mean to Kevin that allows them to banish him to the attack and then forget him when they have to rush to the airport?
I have a few theories. 1. None of it is real, it's all Kevin's playful imagination/dreaming. He's dreaming about empowerment and personal agency. 2. Kevin is a Psychopath, and that's because of, or perhaps why his family behaves as they do. They are all distant and emotionally uninvolved. 3. Kevin is actually Deadpool's Wade Wilson as a child. His "villains" are nearly indestructible, his "antics" are like a road runner cartoon, and he talks to the camera, breaking the 4th wall.
I never liked this film. I remember all the kids around me feeling empowered by it and I just felt terribly sad and scared throughout the movie. I couldn't even laugh about the pain of the bad guys, because I found Kevin so much more dangerous than them. I also thought he was really stupid for not asking for help from anyone.
@@helgaioannidis9365 Before he died John Hughes was planning on making a Home Alone horror film with Macaulay Culkin back as an adult Kevin who'd become a psychopath after seeing how much he could get away with with traps like the ones he made for Harry and Marv in the 1st 2 films. He'd have probably started by torturing and killing his family and if he'd repeated the "I made my family disappear" line from the original it would have been much darker. He'd have killed Harry and Marv after that I reckon.
@@thatcoffee Agreed, Fleabag is soooo good. And her tendency to self sabotage was something I related to far more than I am comfortable with (even if I don't do so in quite the same way 😅). But every character is a beautiful mess in desperate need of some therapy so the show could provide tons of excellent content for analysis. Pus it's really short, with just 12 episodes over 2 series, each less than half an hour long; it can basically be watched as a couple of movies
I have a lot of fear and trust issues surrounding therapists and mental health workers who are men because of an abusive relationship I was in with a man who worked in that field. Watching these videos and seeing how you both are just normal, kind people has been so helpful.

It would be so cool if you guys could react to the mother-daughter relationship and becoming your own person in Lady Bird. This channel is so insightful and interesting!
Honestly there's so much to unpack with each character! Iroh lost his child and tried to fix it by taking in his nephew as a surrogate. Zuko suffered all kinds of abuse and trauma and slowly heals over time thanks to his surrogate father and newfound friends (AND ACTUALLY CALLS HIS DAD OUT ON IT FOR ONCE). Azula was abused and traumatized too, but she went in the complete opposite direction and ended up psychotic. Sokka and Katara both went through traumatic loss and experienced/dealt with it differently. Sokka had a lovely development from sexist jerk to chugging Respect Women Juice for breakfast on the daily. Haru grew a mustache. Toph dealt with a disability, neglectful/emotionally distant parents, and Teenage Rebellion. Aang had to deal with way too much responsibility all at once when he should have been a 12-year-old kid, and he had to find a solution to the world's biggest problem ever while also not losing his own values. It talks about the consequences of war, imperialism, propaganda, etc. There's even a whole episode dealing with animal abuse. Honestly, Alan and Jonathan should do a miniseries.
It would be cool if you guys talked about The Umbrella Academy! It's really interesting how each of the siblings deal with parental neglect/abuse and build unique coping mechanisms.

I hated the ending. So sad the brother who has zero memories has an older brother who wouldn't tell him to go ahead. I'm an eldest child and so is my husband and we jut didn't get the logic. We would never.
@@TahtahmesDiary Oh wow! I never thought of it that way. I thought it was good of the younger brother to do because he DOES have a father figure in his life, his older brother. While the older brother had a father figure that was taken from him too soon. I thought the elder brother getting to have one last talk with Dad was more important and more impactful than the younger brother who has no memories of this man and isn't lacking in a father figure already (at least not as much as his older brother is lacking a father figure.) But I am the youngest in my family! Haha. Neat how that affects opinions. :)

There is something in how Bruce Willis plays his roles that often has both a toughness and a tenderness to it. I don't know what it is, the way his face looks or his voice or the roles he picks. He plays tough tender guy so well. Ugh. I adore seeing him act.
I’ve been saving this episode because I’ve never seen the movie and this Christmas I finally watched it and you’re right, WHAT WAS I DOING. Instantly in my top 10 favorite movies of all time. My absolute favorite scene (besides the gun taped to his back and the final showdown) is his speech about not being a good husband. Watching it for the first time I was shocked this that this manly, macho, machine gun toting action hero was not crying on screen. It’s so vulnerable and beautiful. Bruce Willis acted it so well. John McClane is one of the best fictional characters of all time.

I also like that the female lead and the action hero already had a relationship before so he wasn't just overcoming a feat and claiming her as a prize like you see in so many other action movies.
PREACH!
Women are usually only viewed as tough by exhibiting traditionally male traits. Holly calmly discussing her feelings, caring for her coworkers & using Generro to protect her husband are awesome displays of feminine strength.
YES!

Holly is such a badass in this movie.
I agree. It’s unfortunate that writers, have dialed strong women characters too far in one direction, and they now encompass all of the toxic traits that we hate about toxic male characters.

That's beautiful
That is insane and yet lovely at the same time. To think that box was just there at the perfect time to not only give him an incentive to apologize to his wife but also the idea for one of the most popular movies from the late 1980's.

I loved when they did that. It was so hilarious.
@@franl155 Honestly... I wish they'd make another action movie like that. But I doubt it'd make it through all the studio interference.
@@franl155 I'm firmly convinced that "remake" movies aren't about improving anything - they're just about extending the copyright.
Linda Hamilton shows vulnerability in Terminator 1.

You never need an excuse to scream DIE HAAAARD. Just be yourself, you know?
Hahaha. Only movie freaks can appreciate the importance of randomness!
The importance of laughter and utter randomness is also something we forget we need xD
There’s something so delightfully heartwarming about two adult men channeling their inner eight year old. Not that I’d let an eight year old watch this movie.
Felt like a Joey and Chandler moment!
Great point!!
@@denierlexiese She was trying to protect her boss. It wouldn't exactly be great to *encourage* someone to risk his life.
This is from its IMDB trivia page:
"Jeb Stuart was having difficulty writing the screenplay until he had a near-death experience while driving at night in Los Angeles after a fight with his wife.
Oh that so cool (not the near death but the overall of how the movie came to be)
Could you two do a analysis on the 1st How to train your Dragon ? The relationship between hiccup and his dad struck a cord with me and I want to know how realistic the turnaround of their dynamic was at the end of the movie.

Stay tuned. Coming in 2021!
And making sure the village survives *your son.*
My dad and I are pretty lucky in that we share a lot of the same interests and we have Mom to moderate for us when we butt heads.

@sapphire Thank you so much for sharing this, it really is helpful and very inspiring!
My Dad is an a hoarder and I am the opposite, so that example is so heartening.
I’m becoming a hoarder in my old age and these comments have shed light on a better path....Thankyou so much!
Hmmm, I wonder if this would work on my mom. She’s not an extreme hoarder, but I repeatedly clean things up and make room, (bc she asks me too and bc our apartment is very small), but then she over and over and OVER again, refills the space with things she doesn’t need.

@@AnonymousPiLover I like that you know Rue's name but not Gale's or Peeta's. They're just The Hunter and The Baker. It's great.
It explains why Kevin is a jerk to the pizza guy.
It certainly explains why he's so happy they disappeared.
Watching Jon just geek out and say "Die Hard" multiple times is the best. We need a video compilation of this.
Please do Marraige Story. I feel like you'll be able to do a lot with it and I want your opinion
Jonathans enthusiasm for the movie is as contagious as Covid. :-) (Also, my gods, do I miss Alan Rickman; the man left us too soon).
This channel here is providing me with better therapy than my actual therapy
Also would love to see you guys break down 'Jojo Rabbit' and 'Fleabag'
Seconding Fleabag. Fantastic show, and hit wayyy too close (unfortunately lol)
Fleabag is so amazing and I would love to see Jonathan and Alan's analyse it!
I love that they chose Die Hard as a Christmas movie! Respect my friends, respect.
they reached 100k! I'm so happy for them, honestly the quality of their videos are just amazing
I just love the action breaks and them screaming "DIE HARD!" at the screen.
I have a lot of fear and trust issues surrounding therapists and mental health workers who are men because of an abusive relationship I was in with a man who worked in that field. Watching these videos and seeing how you both are just normal, kind people has been so helpful.
I would love to see you do Narnia, specifically Edmund and the White Witch
I'd love to see a therapist's take on Dead Poet's Society
The "only John can drive someone that crazy" to me also sounds proud
Man, I never noticed these little detail on their relationship. How the last name argument went a full arc
Your commentary and insight is always so enlightening, but can I just say how much I love your logo of a soda and popcorn holding hands and walking into the sunset? So tasteful.
Hi Jonathan and Alan, Could you react to the star wars prequels (specifically revenge of the sith)?? It would really interesting to hear what you have to say about the way palpatine manipulates Anakin ! I know you get lots of movie requests already but id like to add another to the list anyway 😅
Ooo I'd also be really interested in Anakin's relationship with Obi-wan
@@alexiane250 omg yasss
Could you please do Unbreakable? It's also about Bruce Willis in a marriage on the rocks that's saved when the man embraces responsibility and agency in his own life.
I’m hooked on your guys Chanel! I definitely recommend checking out A Silent Voice. It would fit very well in your theme of therapy with Alan crying.
hell yeah i can't watch that movie without crying i mean i kinda hate how much i related to that movie it's beautiful story about learning to admit your wrong while also learning to forgive yourself and others and its a really difficult thing to put into words but somehow this movie manages that
bump
Oh man, that would hurt. But I agree
It would be so cool if you guys could react to the mother-daughter relationship and becoming your own person in Lady Bird. This channel is so insightful and interesting!
DIE HARD: Ah yes, Jake Paralta. And other stuff of curse.
This is why Jake and Amy have such a good relationship 💕
Yippy Kayak other buckets!
Amy REALLY nailed this Holly Gennaro look wowza!
Also, NINE-NINE!
Yippee kayak mother buckets lol
Haha
I'd really love to see you guys tackle Avatar: The Last Airbender!
yes PLEASE
That series made me soooo furious. That's one shitty dad who SHOULDN'T HAVE KIDS.
@@leiajiang7877 Bad people adopting gaggles of kids they could never adequately care for is a common thing in real life. These people are cheered on and given TV shows.
@@TahtahmesDiary Meanwhile caring parents can't adopt. Work full time? Oh no you can't possibly work to look after your kids! Are single? Oh no you couldn't possibly be a single parent! Do sports? Oh no far too violent! It's a joke sometimes it really is
So here are my genuine picks:
• Baby Driver; I kind of want to know why Miles latches to music so much
• Into the Spider verse; someone else on RUclips brought up how this movie is about finding a mentor figure
• Forrest Gump; I feel like there’s a lot with this one cus of Jenny but I’m also interested in what you think of Forrest
• The Waterboy; aka the Mommas boy
• Sherlock (a third one is coming out in 2021 so hype); idk I just like these two movies
In Baby Driver the music helps him deal with his tinitinutus (ringing in the ears) from a car accident. Also I believe he suffered from SPD (sensory processing disorder) which fits with the fact that he seems to be on the autism spectrum and SPD is one of the possible indicators.
I think it would be a great idea to analyze "Onward" - the Pixar movie. The sibling relationship is so beautifully shown there that I felt like crying at the end
Oh yeah, I totally cried in that one. Great sibling relationship
Yess! So good
I hated the ending.
Jonathan and Alan screaming "DIE HAARRD!!!!" like crazy fan girls is therapy in itself! love you guys!
I didn't see this in the theater when it was new, but my husband rented it on VHS when that came out. I knew nothing about it when I sat down on the couch with him to watch. I never enjoyed, and usually avoided movies with violence, blood & gore, and bad language. I watched this with him and when he went off to do something else I immediately watched it again. I loved it (to my great surprise) even though it had the things I didn't like because it also had the things you talked about in your commentary. It remains an all time favorite Christmas movie, right up there with It's a Wonderful Life.
This should be called
“Why die hard is a Christmas movie”
Pretty simple, Christmas needed an action movie
I would like an analysis of The shape of water, I like the relationship Elisa developed with the Gillman and how as she puts it he doesn't see her as flawed but her
I like the father-daughter relationship in Die Hard 4.
You guys should analyze Loki’s trauma, although Odin is a very Toxic person in general! (I know there’s a lot of Thor/avenger movies)
Odin's A+ parenting
Yeah theyre going to do thor but this is also a really good idea. I think they should cover the whole family
I love the way John work his communication with Al through the radio
Y'all did it, you made me watch Die Hard just so I could properly follow this video. Jake Peralta and 7 seasons of Brooklyn 99 couldn't do that.
😂😂
Could you do a video on Uptown Girls? There's grief, loss of a parent, finding a surrogate mother figure, and also some romantic(ish) relationship stuff that might be fun to unpack.
Your subscriber count has skyrocketed in a matter of days. I’m glad I was one of them. You guys deserve every single one.
I love watching these dudes lose their minds over Die Hard and also tear up watching Inside Out. This is what we need more of!!!
Would you guys do a breakdown of Padme and Anakin’s relationship?
Oh God yes. "You murdered a whole bunch of Sand People? Everyone gets angry sometimes." Wow. Run!
YES PLEASE!!!😲
The Clone Wars show fleshes out their characters more but the downfall...
@@julietardos5044 Yes, exactly! So many red flags in that relationship!
Yes. I thought that was the worst onscreen relationship. Of course, then Twilight came out.
Okay, it was a roller coaster! I cried and then I laughed when you guys yelled “DIE HARD” every time there was an action scene. You guys are amazing!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I would love to listen to you guys talk about mother and daughter relationship in the movie Brave?
On it!
that would be awesome
Y'ALL BLEW UP! I remember watching you when you were barely at 100 subscribers and wanting to spread the word. But now you're at 150K! Can't wait until you reach a million!
Can we just take a moment to the switches they make from very professional to 2 little boys just enjoying really overly overdone action moments? This really made me smile xD
Could you react to "Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life" and talk about grief in children?
You two are probably the best upcoming channel from 2020. In the brink of this shit year, a channel so awesome as this just show up for all of us. Theres a reason why the algorythm is helping ya'll, you're helping so much people. Keep up !!!
I love when he talks to himself. But the ‘I work here, you have a great opportunity on the other side of the country’ is hard to reconcile, let’s be honest. One will have to give up that entire part of themselves if they want it to work…
You guys are so nerd adorbs! Thank you 😊
I LOVE WHEN THEY DO THE ACTION BREAK!! THING, I JUST CAN'T STOP LAUGHING!!
I remember watching this in the theater in high school. It was quite an event, because it was the 1st movie I remember with the crazy stereo. The sound of the gunfights and explosions came out of different speakers. It was like I was there!
I would love to see an analysis of Its a Wonderful Life. That’s probably one of my favorite Christmas movies of all time
I have GOOD NEWS for you. You'll want to check the channel out, say... On Christmas Eve.
"Action break!"
🔥🔥🔥
Never thought of this angle of the film! Love it. Especially how you're both still clearly twelve years old when you watch this, screaming DIE HAAAARD 😂💜
We're watching this on my husband's birthday, we didn't realize Die Hard came out the same year he was born! 🥳
I love how red Jonathan's face gets when he screams, "Die Haarrd!"
If you guys are up for it, I Am Legend would be a really interesting movie, I think. It's a bit sad and intense at times but it's really cool and I think there's a lot to dissect there when it comes to isolation and grief and desperation. Love the channel!
