Ultimate Spider-Man was such a good series. Brian Michael Bendis gets a lot of flack these days, but at his peak, he was a truly great writer. This and his superb run on Daredevil prove that.

Stories like "Wake Up", "Underboss", "Out", "The Trial of the Century", "Hardcore", "The Murdock Papers" and "End of Days" are among my favorites in the character's history. But like I said, Zdarsky's entire run has been top-tier as well; I've just read Bendis's run more over the years due to Zdarsky's being current.
@@joshuanelson6795 so the reason I ask is Idk Daredevil S3 was good and while it did spiritually adapt Born Again I was disappointed that Daredevil didn’t suffer the same pressure and circumstances he did in the graphic novel (losing his apartment, reputation, job, and money all at once) or what he went through in Bendis’s run. S3 while he was on the edge, it wasn’t as brutal or anxiety provoking as the comics in that aspect. It felt like Bullseye personally suffered more by the end of it all. And from what I have heard Bendis DD seems like someone that always loses and Zdarsky DD (from him standing up to Ironman, to taking out US Agent) is someone that always wins.
I really like that unlike a lot of other stories where it's some BS of 'well my lawyers are really good so blah blah blah' no, he's on tape murdering someone. and he doesn't get off from it. he loses. for once we actually see a bad guy just flat out lose, no comeback, no 'I'll get you next time' they're just done.

As for why he didnt kill Peter, my best guess is that he cared more about who might've sent him than Spidey himself since he had just crushed him with ease with Electro. To him, dissidence within his men or ingerence from a rival group was way more threatening that a masked buffoon so leaving him alive and humiliated was a more effective message than simply killing him. The point of that story is that kingpin sees himself as untouchable no matter what he does and I believe that was a great exemple of it.

That must have been the ultimate shock for kingpin. No one since his youth had dared to make fat jokes at him to his face and here was someone doing it so brazenly it shocked him. The marshmallow joke alone caught him off guard but the year book photo only hit a nerve that rarely if ever gets pinched. As a result, it was a whole new level of rage he rarely ever gets. A rage that sadly for him made him make stupid mistakes.

@@pikabk8829 Yes they did. As long as you understand that they are a bunch of racists and marxists(but I repeat myself) it's not even hard to see WHY they had to.
Their motives are entirely racist. Their end goal is racist. Once you understand that at every level top to bottom Marvel is run by racists, then you quickly see why they had to kill Peter.
Why they shat on Peter's character when they grudgingly brought him back in a last, desperate, failed attempt to save the Ultimate Universe(Which basically died when Ultimate Peter died)...and why they're doing it all over again in a slower way in the primary universe.
The most pathetic part of it is that Miles actually is decent enough...not good enough, just decent enough...to stand on his own and MAYBE be a legitimately good character someday. If they gave him his own identity.
But that doesn't serve the mission.
Now you can all go back to pretending ya'll don't see it too. It's more comfortable that way, I get it.
